Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

I usually check your posts Tony to see whats going on, but I didn't this time.

I checked the OP and a couple pages back, but not enough. My fault.

I'm really tempted... if that Sleeping Dogs DLC bundle would be available during a sale. :bouncy: (I would like to buy them from Amazon, not Steam.)

amazon needs to do a better job at figuring out which games are actually steam play and mac compatible. I hate having to browse through the deals and then cross reference with steam to see if it is actually mac compatible.

That deal's AWESOME.
TR 2013, Sleeping Dogs, and Hitman Ab are all really good.
I own all of that stuff already, though.

If only I didn't had SD and Hitman abs... Awesome games really

If only Blood Dragon was bundled w/ that for the SAME price. ;)

EDIT:

MyD is always late to those parties - oh well.

Of course, I already own all of those 1st Tier games except Eets on Steam already, anyways.

I own the entire 2nd Tier (FTL and Fez) somewhere.
lol mysterd i just got lucky i dont think anyone want eets so if i wasnt there it would stil be around

The Square deals need DLC included.  Or there needs to be other deals created that include the DLC.

Hey guys,

Looks like the EA issue was a fat finger error on my part ( I set up the promotion incorrectly so the pricing didn't flip).

The following prices will be live 9/9-9/11

BATTLEFIELD 3 PREMIUM EDITION - $19.99
BATTLEFIELD 3 PREMIUM SERVICE - $14.99
Kingdoms of Amalur Complete Bundle [Download] - $9.99
FIFA 13 - $9.99
Need for Speed Most Wanted Pack (Game + DLC) - $24.99
SIMCITY (PC/MAC) - $29.99

Cheers,

Tony
What about The Sims Medieval and Mass Effect 3? They raised price days before sale ended. :/

Shame Hitman: Contracts can't be a part of the package, it isn't available digitally on PC because some band who have one song on the soundtrack are assholes and won't renew the license, and the dev is apparently too lazy to replace it.

Actually the DLC for TR and Hitman really isn't worth buying. And most of the Sleepy Dogs dlc isn't worth buying either, and the few that are, are short. I've beaten all of these and the base game for all of these is quite compelling.

Well it *was* available digitally.. I own it digitially from GameFly (they were slow to shut-off sales). There's hope though since Contracts got an HD-re-release for console peasants this year.

That band is Clutch and they're pretty badass, not assholes at all. I'm sure if it was up to them they'd let it be in the game. Unfortunately, Atlantic Records owns the rights to the song "Immortal." Hate on them, leave Clutch out of it. Not their fault. A ton of artists that were formerly signed by Atlantic have nothing good to say about them once they are no longer under contract. Clutch is signed with a different label now as well. Atlantic still has the rights to the song as far as I'm aware.

Oh, I'm sorry. You're not allowed to do giveaways in this thread, as that would be off topic.

:shame:
I wanted to comment on this. I just emailed Cheapy to ask him about this policy. Specifically I told him that I really enjoy giving you guys games from time to time because it's fun, you guys appreciate it, and it is a quick and easy way for me to show that I appreciate your participation, both in this thread and in the others around the internet I see you guys posting in.

Under that same logic, we (me and Cheapy) also don't have a problem if you guys want to show appreciation for the camaraderie we've built in this thread by giving away games to other CAGS in thread. For context, when I do random giveaways like the one I did today, Amazon isn't paying for that, I literally bought 5 or 6 bundles today do give out in the various communities I work in and enjoy so it's not like I'm doing an official Amazon giveaway or anything.

So, with that context, if you want to give other CAGS games in thread that's cool, please don't take advantage of this and use this thread as a place to trade games, as that is definitely off topic. If you buy a Humble Bundle, or get an key for a game you already in one of our bundles and want to give some of those extras out in the thread feel free to. If this is bothersome to some of the other readers/posters, I apologize for the inconvenience, but we've built a really fun community here that has fun talking about games, dogs, making jokes about both, etc. and we'd love for you to join it, it's a blast :).

Cheers,

Tony

LN is referencing a time where he was giving away a shit ton of games here and the mods literally came into the thread, deleted pages of posts, and told everyone "No dropping codes here."

Granted there were a CRAZY amount of code drops, it was fun and I'd imagine one dude tattled and said it was off topic and the mods flipped their shit like they always do.

But if Cheapy said it's okay, it's okay. He's really slack on letting the mods do whatever they feel is best, and they've been proven to abuse their power in the past.

To be fair, I think its pointless to spam code drops in this thread. Most people that get them are lurkers anyway, or use bots. I wouldn't mind if you do something like Tony did though, where you require the person to PM you or reply to the post to get the key.

Ya, I'm happy to talk about ways to do stuff more organized, I mean, Cheapy even built us a code giveaway platform! I'd be happy to figure out how to utilize that too :).

Cheers,

Tony

Yeah, much better approach to just say "I have x game, first to PM me gets it." or to use the "Rest of the code is in my status." method.

But the mods nuking pages and banning code drops from the thread was bullshit. Even if it took over, it was free fucking games...

Let's not focus on the negative :). We've addressed the topic and I think we're all on the same page now. The mods are hard working volunteers and we all want the community to rock. It's totally cool for us to be able to collaborate directly with Cheapy to be flexible rather than rigid, we're all adults :).

Cheers,

Tony

That Hitman/Tomb Raider/Sleeping Dogs pack is insane. The cheapest Tomb Raider, Hitman, and Sleeping Dogs have ever been on Steam is 12.50, 6.25, and 4.50. You'd probably have to wait a couple years, possibly, to get all those games separately at the same price. I'm totally in for that deal.

Hey Tony,

I was wondering if you guys will do a sale on Mass Effect Trilogy anytime soon? I missed the sale from Greenmangaming a couple of days ago.

Thank you for your hard work on bringing us these awesome video game deals!

You guys should check out Papo Y Yo at that price - the mechanics are sound if a little simple, but the story/metaphor and emotional resonance is quite moving.

I think the mods should say that ONLY Tony can give away codes here.  It's logical enough, since it's virtually his thread.

If everyone starts doing giveaways here, followed by thank you's, and talking about the games in the giveaways, followed by the obligatory hatred of "lurkers", etc etc etc ....  then the signal to noise ratio of this thread will turn to utter crap.

There are so many other threads, not only on this forum, but on the internet in general, to do these things.  Isn't it good enough for *this* thread to be about Amazon digital deals and whatever Tony wants to do to promote them?

Tony is building a community of Amazon DVG customers. Why shouldn't we be allowed to give away stuff to each other if that's what T-Money wants?

It was 14.99 during the LSS. Fantastic deal--I finally picked it up.
