Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

In the "Product Description" section:

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

Syndicate+Saboteur $10 Pre-coupon is incoming.

Cheers,

Tony
In for Syndicate. I got Saboteur for PS3 or else would also get that. Thanks for the info Tony Guy.

Edit: Wait a minute does that mean it's a bundle of both games for that price?

Oh! I thought it was a Syndicate+Saboteur bundle for $10 pre... my bad.

Edit: I'm confused. I'll just be quiet and watch the EC page.

Hey guys,

No update on these yet. I'll add this to the OP too, I'm going to have to stop responding to the "have you heard back from" questions. Unless I post an update, assume no, I generally get updates up here within 24 hours of getting them from the vendor. It is usually much quicker than that but I haven't missed the 24 SLA yet. Apologies, but it is taking too much time from my ability to actually run down deals.

Cheers,

Tony
No worries. Thank you for replying. You mentioned you'd try to push this for this week a bit ago, but since nothing else was said since then...

I'll stop bugging you with my questions now. I know you can't do anything if the publisher doesn't want to help. :(

FYI the map in Saboteur doesn't work at resolutions higher than 1024p. It's difficult to get around without using the waypoints but I guess it's possible. I love that game but can't really play it on PC.
I just went with a lower resolution when I played. Even with that, I have to recommend the game. It was quite fun to play. Scratched much the same itch as GTA with the added bonus of killing Nazis.

Okay, I've been gone the last couple of days, busy running around getting stuff done and reinstalling a bunch of stuff back on my PC. After that whole SSD break away convo I decided to dismantle my RAID array and give Win8.1 a shot. Anyways, so instead of reading some 50+ pages of posts can someone give me a quick summary of everything that I missed. Any new additions to the EC list that are generally considered worth grabbing?

I did catch the disrespect that LN got though and that warrants a bit of a comment. First and foremost I just want to thank you LN for all time you spent doing the giveaways and for all the random code drops. I completely missed the giveaway and I've yet to ever get a chance to snag one of the drops but we all appreciate them because you certainly don't have to ever do any of that. It's a shame idiotic people have to get on here and rage out because they're so ridiculously self entitled but try to not let it get to you. You showed amazing restraint in your response so much respect for that. I don't know if I could've kept my composure in the same situation. Thanks again for all you do. There's a lot that I could say on top of what I've briefly read about the whole matter but really, after all this time all I have left to say about that is:

yes-yes-let-the-butthurt-flow-through-you.jpg

I just finished Brothers a Tale of Two Sons and...
I'm stunned. Words cannot describe how awesome this game is, and how fitting the controls are not just for gameplay, but for the story. How many games do you know of that the actual way that you use the controls is part of the story?

Anyone on the fence better jump over quick! Get from Amazon of course, when they get more keys :D

To be more specific, you can bring up the map, but all markers and stuff don't line up with the map. You can't put a waypoint on the map for where you want to go, and it's a big ass map with routes all over the place. You have to keep checking the map as you drive, you can't just follow a colored line on your minimap like you would normally do.

Here's a short discussion on it from Gamefaqs.
I may be remembering wrong, but doesn't it also have issues with AMD cards?
IIRC, The Saboteur once had issues w/ AMD cards.
Did it ever get fixed officially?
Looks like I'll be skipping this bundle too.

Your list is missing some stuff, http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/316950-amazon-pcdd-january-deals-749-brothers-1320-bioshock-infinite-and-more/page-152#entry11428765 has everything reddit has if you want to add the missing stuff to yours.
Thanks. I'm updating from the spreadsheet Tony sent.

Huh. Back on old CAG, you could see someone's sig via their profile. I guess that feature didn't make it into this version of the forum.
I open up a post in chrome incognito when I want to see a sig (including mine) >.>

Keys finnally ran out for the bundle it seems. It was a DLC hammer that did the bundle in.
LOL. Isn't it always one piece of DLC that kills these bundles (when they have DLC in them)? I remember that Paradox bundle running out of one of the DLC items for A Game of Dwarves.

I can contribute. I have 13 credits left.

Castlevania LoS Ultimate $9.99 precoupon
blacklist $15 precoupon
Metro LL $13.59 precoupon
state of decay $9.99 precoupon
Jurassic park the game 12.99 or less
Sounds like a good list to me - especially what I bolded.
I complete agree with that selection. I'm specifically looking at State of Decay and SC: Blacklist. I'm still hoping for Metro LL to hit a solid sub $10 as well.

Looks like I'll be skipping this bundle too.
For anyone looking into The Saboteur, might wanna do a little bit of research & Googling - to see what's up w/ it.

There's a Beta Patch 1.03 out there (put out either around or after Pandemic closed - I'm not sure) that was released for AMD cards that was "supposed" to fix AMD issues:

http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2009/12/21/ea-patches-the-saboteur-for-ati-cards/1

Here's a Steam-user talking about running that beta patch - and still had some issues w/ it (namely on the races):

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=34657528&postcount=34

So, yeah - buyers, beware / be-aware of what you could be getting yourself into.

EDIT:

I played the game a while back - yeah, the game's really good. A good swan song from Pandemic. Now, if only a modder or someone would fix the thing for everyone, things would be great - b/c you know EA won't properly fix the bloody thing.

I guess a simple solution would be to buy one of the console versions.. but I can't do that, because consoles don't exist.

Ughhhh, so annoyed that the closest thing to a goty edition for Mass Effect 2 will only JUST NOW be available for 25-30 dollars. A four year old game. I know this isn't Amazon's fault btw
