Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

  • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
  • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
  • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

In the "Product Description" section:

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

Woot, according to joystiq Dark Souls will eventually be getting a patch to remove GFWL.
http://www.joystiq.com/2014/01/17/games-for-windows-live-is-dying-we-check-the-life-support-of-ga/#continued
They didn't say that...
They said:
Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition (Exploring options, but no set plans yet.)
It **WAS** going to be, however, now, it is **DOWNGRADED* to that.
Update: Namco Bandai descriptions altered from "will update" to "exploring options."
That puts in into the *maybe not* category. ie, don't count on it...

Mmh there's no EA game offered with Steam keys on Amazon.. even if the game is available on Steam it will also be available on Origin and for some reason, highly probable that it's because EA wants it this way.. Amazon only offers EA games with Origin keys, never Steam.

Not to blow your bubble but I don't see how a price drop on Steam could change that. :???:
Not that it necessarily makes any difference, but KOA on Steam is one of the only EA games that are Steamworks with Steam cloud, achievements, etc., so it might be more "fit" to sell Steam keys alongside the Origin version. Uh, Plz EA guy? ;)

Just a theory I daydreamed about.

It can always go into that rumored Humble Origin bundle #2

Use Homeward bone or Ring of Sacrifice, next time you have big amount of souls, or just go back and recover your bloodstain, then youll recover your souls as well.

As soon as I finish patching the hole in the wall that my controller went through, there may be more words.

Mate, I know how to play, but you're never expecting to get stuck/glitched behind a sentinel's shield and flung into the nothing around Anor Londo. And, I was on my way to touch my expensive blood stain when it happened.

I'd buy EC Amalur DLC for Steam (or even a complete pack, despite owning the base game) as fast as you can throw it at me.

On a side note, the gifs, pictures, videos, etc... are getting a bit excessive IMHO.  What's wrong with 1 picture/gif/video per post?  Just sayin'

Anyone living in a USA tax free country willing to help buy one/two EC games tomorrow? We can discuss about a little tip or you can keep Inversion key from the Enslaved+Inversion Bundle. :D

PM me, thanks. :)

All I've been waiting for is Enslaved. Much more amazing deal than I ever expected, heard Inversion sucks but I'll consider it a freebie and give it a go anyway. PRAISE THE SUN (and Tony).

I deliberately waited on Enslaved, counting on a deal.  Tony, your work with the Namco peeps went well.

This reminds me of that MS deal you did last year that came out of nowhere and SAAAAVED CHRISTMAS!  Well, er... I mean, post-Christmas.  The only way that Enslaved bundle could have been better is if it had been across two publishers and been an Enslaved/Remember Me bundle.  "Two games, MOSTLY the same, but by different publishers.  For one great price."
Combine that with your recent add of Guild Wars 2 and I'm thinking you've accounted for two of my EC coupons.

Got any magic left?  I have one coupon remaining.

hey guys

I just found that Amazon sent me this Email Thanks for purchasing from the Amazon Digital Games Store this holiday. Your purchase entitles you to a $5 credit which can be redeemed on a selected group of games designated as our "Editor's Choice Best Games of 2013".

will the 5$ credit appear after I press buy and download or they should appear earlier ?

and which games do you recommend from the editor's choice?

The credit will show on the screen when you click "buy and download". Note that as specified, it only works on specific titles. See the first post in this thread for a link to a spreadsheet with all current and upcoming sales.

Is there something to know about Enslaved.. that game wasn't even on my radar but it looks pretty decent if not pretty good. And it actually just came out in October this past year.. that's like 3 months ago. I'm not gonna complain in any way on such a deal but is there some "undisclosed" reason why this game would be thrown in the "crazy deals bin" so quick after it's release.. bad port? technical issues ? or simply Tony making the people at Namco drunk and pulling this wildcard afterwards ?
Frankly, its just not that good of a game... Its pretty but it very shallow... but at that price you should find some enjoyment.

Tony,

Thanks for the new deals! :D

Only one coupon left, I think I'll just get whatever is still in stock when I wake up.

What time do the deals go up, around midnight eastern, midnight pacific?
Tony has said between midnight and 1AM PT. Unless the hamsters are drunk, then it's whenever Tony can press the start button.

You'd then be surprised.. about how some people love some type of games..

Over the years I've come to love all type of games.. and found people (mostly streaming) who also love and are good at unknown games..

For me.. I guess I've always been a CAG at heart.. ever since I was young we could never afford the expensive games and had to buy the on sale ones who no one touched..

So I had a 3rd party nintendo, with 4 games in 1 cartridge that had mario 1, mario 2, duck hunt and wildgunman.

Later, I'd have a gameboy but I couldn't really get Super Mario Land 2.. so I played Aliens 3, and Blades of Steel..

On Playstation 1 my first game was Silverload.. and to this day I am the only person who has streamed and beaten it on Twitch TV.

Now I work and I can buy whatever.. but one thing that I've always liked is how people can bring such joy out of random games.. makes me feel not so much out of place..

Hmm.. I'm feeling very nostalgic today..

I'm pretty sure I still have a bunch of EC coupons left so if any regular CAGs still want a game, send me a PM and we'll work it out through paypal (for the cost of the game, nothing extra).

Yeah, those. Ok I'll stay up so they don't run out.

1AM? Damn I don't wanna stay up til 4.
Right there with you.. I may just end up setting an alarm or something.

Pssshhh. You want to hear about nightmares? I had a nightmare that Tony cancelled all the EC deals and just put that shitty excuse for a game, Lost Planet, on the EC list for the last two days.
For how much before coupon? :)
