Hey CAGS,

I’ve got some news I’m both excited and sad to share with you at the same time. I’ll be leaving the Digital Video Games team in Mid-March to join the marketing team for Amazon.com’s Loyalty and Rewards program, Amazon Coins. My boss and I have talked extensively about how to maintain and continue our presence here and across the other communities we’ve created in the past couple of years. To that end I’d like to introduce you to Josh, who take over monitoring, updating, and responding to this thread. Josh will be ramping up over the next couple of weeks, he  will be posting shortly to introduce himself.

Now that the “what’s going on” part of the message is out of the way I want to tell you all how much I love CAG and the posters here. This was the first community I joined when I started this job (anyone still remember that first thread?) and all of you have had a huge hand in shaping how we think about and execute Community Development and Management here at Amazon, which has in turn shaped my career these last two and a half years.

I started to write out a section calling out the regular posters and realized the list would be both overly long and incomplete at the same time. Instead I’d like to thank you all again, you all have my deep and sincere gratitude. I’ll still be around and my gaming accounts aren’t going anywhere so feel free to hit me up anytime you want to chat. I’ll probably still hang out in the thread too :).

Thanks again everyone, let me or Josh know if you have any questions!

The Indie Store has launched!
Amazon.com is launching a storefront dedicated to supporting and promoting PC/Mac/Web-based Indie Games. Our Digital Video Games team is a small group of passionate gamers and we’re all really excited to help Indie developers reach more customers quickly by providing a quick and simple process for bringing their games to market. Additionally we’ll be supporting the Indie Store with a ton of promotions, both at and after launch. Many of these promotions are designed to give the developer the opportunity to maximize their revenue. For example, Amazon is forfeiting all royalties from bundle sales and passing them along directly to the developer, we’ve also created an “Indie Spotlight” program to help customers learn more about the games and developers they love. We view the Indie developers as some of the most creative in the industry and we want to help them continue to create new and innovative experience for customers.

Why we are doing this:

 • Allow customers to discover an entirely new category of games on Amazon.com
 • Help developers reach new customers quickly. Our onboarding process is straightforward and we want to sell every Indie game available
 • We want to leverage our strengths to support and help the developers who are driving forward innovation and creativity in the games industry
General Information

Hi CAGs,
I'll be posting deals we're running on Digital Games (PC/Mac, Free to Play, Sony/Microsoft Points/Subs).

I'm also here to answer questions you might have, get you closer to the developers by hosting Q&As, setting up podcasts, live streaming gameplay etc. If I don't respond to a question you have in thread please send me a PM. These ping my email address and make it more likely that I will see your question and respond more quickly.

Cheers,
Tony

FYI. EA Games sold by Amazon will not activate on Steam.
F.A.Q.S.:

1. Does the game I'm buying from Amazon Activate on Steam/Origin/Uplay? What DRM does the game use?

There are two places to identify DRM on a digital video game detail page:

At the top of the page, below the title:

16hm7a8.png

In the "Product Description" section:

r06ykl.jpg

2. Note on Electronic Arts Games - For the most part, EA games sold on Amazon do not activate on Steam. Most activate on Origin.

3. Note on DRM with limited activations:

Our Policy

4. Sometimes I'll do giveaways.

5. I work with developers and publishers to get fun (or at least what I think is fun) content to share with you all. Here are some examples:

a. Check out the Pax Gameplay videos here: Xcom: Enemy Unknown I played Xcom with Jake, the Creative Director for the game, a few months before the game came out Also, on this page, check out the Q&A, also a community driven event.

b. Check out the interview on this page: Borderlands 2 we did this interview at E3 with Randy Pitchford this year.

c. We've partnered with the ++GoodGames Podcast to feature many of the games we carry. They talk to the developers about the game development process, how the games are conceptualized and managed, all kinds of fun stuff. I'm working on putting together full link list and will update when I have it.

What else do we sell?

Xbox Live Points and Subscriptions:

1600 Microsoft Live Points
4000 Microsoft Live Points
12 Month XBOX Live Subscription
3 Month XBOX Live Subscription]
12 Month + 1 XBOX Live Subscription

PSN+ Subscriptions and PSN Points:

$20 PSN Points
$50 PSN Points
12 Month PSN+ Subscription
3 Month PSN+ Subscription

We also have a Free-2-Play store supported by our GameConnect technology. Gameconnect allows you to link your Amazon.com account with free-2-play and MMO accounts so that you can buy things like in game currency, premium game time/subscriptions, in game items, etc. on Amazon.com using your Amazon.com payment options and have this content delivered directly into your game.

5. Price Matching notes: Generally we do not match international retailers (GMG, Gamersgate, etc) or physical retailers (Best Buy, Newegg.com, etc.)
To check out the Free-2-Play games we offer you can visit our storefront here: Free-2-Play Store

When will coupons expire, time-wise?
Tomorrow except for Dark Souls.

Edit - If you didn't understand what i've wrote, coupons will only work at Dark Souls or if Tony says that another game will be extended to 1/2. So if you want to buy anything, buy it now/today.

I am trying to get Enslaved and pontering the LoK collction (actuall, I have all games on retail disc sans Defiance), so trying to decide whether to go back to work or stalk Amazon for a bit longer.

Should I buy the legacy of Kain pack? I've never played any other blood omen game

No, seriously, the plot and lore is Amy Hennig's work. Do I need to tell you more?

It's really a personal taste kinda question.. if it was me I'd pick Tomb Raider.. most recent and would play for sure where the others would go into my back-log.

That would be an easy decision for me. Tomb Raider if you have the rig to run it.
I've never played any of them, but if I had to choose, I'd go with Tomb Raider.

Looks like we have a clear winner here. However, a lot of people found it disappointing and from what I saw, the control is pretty much console-esque, which I really hate (tapping buttons repeatedly is silly). Also keen on the Kain thing...

I don't know her work but your enthusiasm is enough for me! Thanks :D

Anyone with a spare $5 coupon care to pick up Enslaved/Inversion for me? I'll send you an extra buck over the cost. I stupidly spent my last coupon on the Kain pack, I WANT ENSLAVED.

Enslaved link isn't working from the EC landing page. Guess I'll wrap up up my EC coupons with that when it starts working again and Thief in the Shadows pack.

Tomb Raider

As a TBS fan I love Ace patrol but the games are dirt cheap anyway in sales from GMG or something.

There's quite a bit of QTE, especially at the beginning. However, the gameplay and controls are generally very good, and the combat was much better than I expected.

The only reason I've found as to why some people found it dissapointing is that it wasn't an exact copy of the original games.

I just find this somewhat ironic.

Random CAGs at the start of the EC sale: Get the pitchforks 'n torches, we're gonna git Tony and string him up along with EA guy.  Burn it all down!

Random CAGs at the close of the EC sale: Does anyone have any EC credits left?  I'm all out and want to buy moar games.

I am thinking of getting Naruto as well but would that make me a fake CAG? :whistle2:k
Well it's not so much fake CAG as much as no one in the hardcore CAG clique will be able to talk to you. You'll have the shame of having to eat lunch alone or with the posers. It's not a pretty thing...

...or you could just say fuck it and I'll garrote whomever buy whatever I please.

And so predictable.

Eh. I have enough bad karma on me. I figured I'd better let other folks use these. I -did- exchange one of my coupons but then I felt bad about it. So...

Two coupons left.

Incidentally, if someone wants to split a Hitman pack, I only need Blood Money and Silent Assassin out of it, if you want to make a deal.

Well i have to agree with you. For this sale I only got 3 coupons as i though it would be enough but in the end I was needing 3\4 more coupons. Next time if Tony does this kind of promotion i'll try to grab some more coupons. And yes maybe this EC sales was not a killer or very much exciting to everyone (to me it's always a good deal if makes me save more bucks), but it seems that everybody got a game or two that they wanted.

Obligatory post for each page: Enslaved + Inversion Pack (non-404 URL)

Who cares what random people on the internet bought in a horrible sale but here's an Inversion key 6R9QN-Q5HQ2-4PCTI
I'm personally always glad to see what people bought. I find it interesting. I also don't think of the regulars in this thread as random people. Perhaps that's the difference?

So, what are the Mac gamers using the $5 code on???
There were lots of Mac deals, you just need to check Steam to see if a title is Steamplay (Mac/PC). In fact, Defense Technica (Mac version) was cheaper than the PC version and it activated on Steam for both.

Ended up getting Enslaved bundle just to use a coupon this sale hahah. I stand by the fact that there really wasn't that much worth while, but a large reason is because I own too much already haha

Either way I think I have 2 more coupons left if anyone needs some help. Or a suggestion if there are any games that come out to just about a dollar that I could try

Being a regular on an anonymous internet forum doesn't make one any less random. "This is what I bought guys, look at me, aren't I cool?" posts are just silly and any sane person is going to scroll right past them. Do you live vicariously through other peoples Amazon purchases?

I ended up talking myself out of more purchases than I bought.

My meager haul:

Lords of Football

Burnout Paradise Vehicle Pack

Ace Patrol Pack

I have Dark Souls and Enslaved for PS3 and think I will just play them there for now since my backlog is ridiculous.  Most of my coupon earning purchases were for DLC that I actually wanted so I don't feel like I wasted any money in December.  Well,  no more than usual when it comes to padding my backlog.

Thanks for the deals Tony even if I didn't take advantage of them!

Sweet, I almost forgot about this.  Got Hitman Absolution for $2.70 after tax.  Pretty cool.  A month ago I thought there was nothing for me but I Kinda want to snag Enslaved bundle as well.  Any CAG have an extra coupon they are not going to use?  I would love to be able to get Enslaved and Inversion at that price.

Look, the perople complaining about not being able to activate Inversion are using a phony address to buy something in a region they're not supposed to be buying in. We get it. Like 80% of the regulars at Reddit Game Deals do it and regularly boast about it. It happens. Don't pretend it's on the up and up with the address thing though. Amazon is clearly indicating they only sell to residents of the US and everyone knows it. A lot of people don't care but the whole 'Oh well I have my aunt's uncle's sister's cousin's babysitter's once removed shipping address and it's legit' argument is a bit lame.

If someone is buying outside of their region when a store clearly indicates this then it's their responsibility to check for region locks. The store is not going to tell you that the item is region locked to Europe or where ever because they are not supposed to be selling there anyway.

As an aside, for those that are going to continue to do this I suggest in the future you check in at http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/new/ since that site is primarily European (while CAG is largely North American) and they regularly discuss this sort of thing openly (in front of the Amazon rep even ) so you can find out there easily if something is region locked by the number of complaints and people saying they are using VPNs to fake a region to activate to Valve's servers a game that they bought with a fake address all while the European Reddit mods allow this talk to freely go on.

Seriously, go to Reddit next time.
once again I am not having a problem and I always buy from amazon and never had an issue so it is not about me and ,I understand your point but what if someone bought a lot of games during a visit to the states?and you didn't know that Amazon sellers makes deals with some some shipping couriers all over the world?

It wont hurt anyone if Amazon include this info in the product details like the voltage and frequency details in the electronics devices as it might not work everywhere

I feel sorry for people who bought it and they should take care in the future and yeah complaining wont do anything

Being a regular on an anonymous internet forum does make one less random. "This is what I complain about guys, look at me, aren't I cool?" posts are just silly and any sane person is going to scroll right past them. Do you live vicariously through other peoples Amazon bitching like me?
I wholeheartedly agree with the above statement.

:whistle2:
