This is "do it at your own risk" situation thats covered in the new Trading and Feedback rules. Meaning no feedback is to be left for this , as well as a special warning that this isn't what Amazon designed Prime to be used for.
If they get wise, and kick everyone out of Prime - don't expect us mods to worry about getting you your money back (assuming you were not the original Prime purchaser).

A year of Amazon Prime costs $80.

Amazon Prime has a feature where you can invite four other people to share the subscription with you. The Amazon terms say that the people need to live at the same address, but several people from slickdeals say this is not the case.

So people get together in groups of 5, paypal $16 over to one trusted guy. The trusted guy buys the prime membership and adds the other four as household members sharing the subscription.

Then everyone in the group gets Amazon Prime for a year, for $16.

The initial purchaser needs these three pieces of information from the people who are joining:

1) Birth date (Month and Day only)
2) Name associated with the Amazon account that wants to be added to prime
3) The e-mail address associated with your Amazon account that wants to be added to prime

The people joining the account need the birth date (month and day only) of the originating account member to accept the invitation.

I just started an Amazon Prime Membership about a minute ago. I have 4 invites available ($16) if anyone is interested. LMK, thanks!

Well, it seems i'm still hunting. Missed out on a couple of spots just before I could message in. So, if anyone else is creating an account or thinking about it, let me know. I may be down to do it myself if there is still interest out there...PM me.
 
All right, I'm doing it. There are just way too many good games coming out this fall and I'm still used to the Oregon no sales tax way of life despite living in LA, therefore I love me some Amazon. So, if you want to join into the account it will begin today. PM me if interested. Thanks!

Edit: Cribs you show as an accepted invitation on amazon. Are you SURE you don't have access to prime right now? If not I'll just send back the money and remove you. Munch, not so fast on the witch hunt please.
 
Update, Cribbs has been refunded. I'm not sure what the issue is, it shows up fine on my end. Maybe amazon is wising up. Whatever the case if any of the others who have signed up on my acct are experiencing the same problem let me know and I'll refund the money and remove your name. I can't tell from my end so you'll need to let me know. Cribbs, sorry for the scare. I only check my personal email every hour or so, wasnt ignoring/avoiding you.

Huh, now that this gets mentioned, when I check my own account, it claims it has been cancelled...

But yet I can still get free shipping on new orders. This is rather strange. I wonder if the cancellation notice is from when my 3-month free trial ended earlier in the year.

Yeah, this happened to me also. I had a friend sign me up through their account, and I received Prime service for a few months even though my account said Prime was cancelled. (I had also done the 3-month trial.)

It didn't make a lot of sense to me either. But, it was working fine.
 
Glad it's working Cribbs. Callandor & xeex thanks for the update so we know it's not an isolated issue. I guess it's just some Amazon glitch but it doesn't seem to be affecting service.

Update: Thanks stormrage360 for feeding the addiction. Prime is all set for me. No more hunting for slots :D.

To anyone who did not get in on time, good news is there were plenty of people pm'ing me for spots. Respond to any messages in this thread and you all should be able to put together a few more groups. Good luck!

Oh yea, before I forget...
