Hi all, I had ordered an old game, Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance on Xbox (I collect MGS stuff), and received it today and am pretty sure its been resealed. Has anyone else experienced this from Amazon of all places?

First sign is that its not factory sealed style - the Y fold seal. It looks like a reseal job and the reseal isn't even good. the area around where you open the case doesn't even have the wrapping on it, and its not torn, just whomever did it didn't cover all the area.

Second, if that's how the game came sealed (I got some Phoenix Wright games that didn't have Yfold seals) it is pretty dirty under the seal. There's lots of white on the cover art and it looks dirty and a little worn.

This looks like something that should have come from the Amazon warehouse deals or something. Also when I ordered it, it said "only 4 left in stock" and it still has that right now.

Obviously I guess I need to deal with Amazon CS, but I was just curious if this ever happened to anyone before and if its worth trying to get another one from them.

thanks

Ah yeah, your are right which was my number one sign that it was a used copy. I can see on ebay the this game originally came with the Yfold style factory job.

I probably wouldnt even have had too much a problem with it if the copy was actually decent. But touching it made my hands feel grimy heh.

Never say never. I feel I got a used resealed Y-fold game from eBay user: Member id gamers_factory - gut feeling further strengthened after visiting their website (We Pay Ca$h for Used Games & Systems) and they don't even sell "new" games on their own site (only on eBay they did, weird).

I received X-Men blu-ray trilogy resealed from Amazon just last week. When I took the shrink wrap off, the half torn off price sticker was underneath the wrap. Just email support about the order and they'll send you a new one and put a return ticket in for you.

This is most likely due to return fraud. Don't fault amazon for it. How do people even re-seal their own stuff? It seems like those machines are expensive, unless there's some other cheap way to do it.

When I was in high school, my friend worked at a convenience/grocery store and they had a shrink-wrap machine there. We used to be wrap random shit when we were hanging out in the back and bored. I'd think other various businesses have them as well. Maybe the people doing the fraud don't actually own the machine.

It could've been someone who went to a Hollywood Video/Blockbuster closing sale and bought one of their shrinkwrapping set ups.

But I have to ask whether or not the item said it truly was FROM Amazon or if it was sold by a third party seller, since some of the ones on there are pretty sketchy.

Nor-Am(selling as PieceOfMindMedia/PieceOfMindBooks), which runs Amazon's trade in program, has been known to reseal stuff. Same deal with Gamer's Factory(which runs the Toys R' Us in store trade program).

But most likely this was just a case of return fraud, which is what happened with a PS3 I got in 'like new'(in this case like new meaning defective/beat up console and none of the games or controller the bundle was supposed to come with) last week from Warehouse Deals.

I'm seeing more and more instances of stuff showing up in deplorable shape to folks from Amazon. Not usually new/sealed stuff, but sometimes it happens.:whistle2:#

Wow I literally just got out of a CS chat on Amazon about a used game received as new... Mine was CoD4 PS3 original packaging UNSEALED fingerprints on disc and Amazon barcode directly on the case proclaiming it as NEW. Was 3rd party seller: New Town Videos but handled and shipped by Amazon. $25 shipped, REFUND coming.

Was a bad today for Amazon was other purchase of CoD MW2 Hardened Editon. Arrived this time Amazon owned and shipped but it was shoved into a way to small bubble mailer and the shrink wrap was shredded. Had a large rip on the front as well that judging from the way it was folded was done prior to shipment.. This was actually a replacement for another that arrived with wrapping tore and horrible packaging. $49 shipped, refund coming.

Only thing they did manage to get right was my 2nd MW2 veteran statue. The package is huge and it's the one I had worried about since they weigh nothing. This one way packed like gold in Fort Knox. The one yesterday was in a huge box with a couple bubble wrap inserts just banging around but package was mint. ($16.50 shipped each)

I've been collecting sealed Call of Duty games lately. COLLECT THEM ALL! I've got 95% sealed of the hard to find ones. :)
