Amazon trade in condition requirements

I just did my first amazon trade in earlier, but I am not certain as to if my game will be deemed as acceptable or not until they receive it, but was wondering if I could possibly get a heads up answer to ease my mind.

The game I am tradin in, is in good playable condition with only minor scratches, and it comes complete with case and manual. The only problem though, is that the top of the disc art, part of it has been chipped off and ou can see through the disc. I say it's a good cm or two of the area that's been chipped. But the disc itself obviously is fine since only the top is missing the paint.

My question is if amazon will deem that damage to the game even though it doesn't affect play. I tried looking through the FAQ, and the closest thing I could find was if the foil was damaged, but not sure what that's even referring too, so still unsure about this situation.

If anyone knows or has experience with this, any help is appreciated.

I would be absolutely shocked if they took that disc. The Amazon trade thread has many instances where trades get rejected for less damage.

flip a coin

heads they smash it and send it back
tails they give you half value and don't send it back

For whatever reason, they really kill you about anything wrong with games. DVDs on the otherhand are likely to be accepted in that condition.

I traded in a mint condition game and a DVD and they gave me a (small) bonus credit on the DVD, beyond what was stated for "like new"... but not the game. I guess they are more strict on games.

I was under the impression that the data is stored in the foil at the top of the disc. If the top art has been chipped off and you can see through the disc, then the foil has probably been damaged, and the disc can't be repaired.

It should be fine if the game played OK. I don't think they even look at the discs; what they do is put it in an optical drive and see if the entire disc is readable.

I'm betting on sent back as unacceptable. Combine both of what chiwii and donkeydrop say and the answer is becoming clear.

I sent in two copies of Mario Kart Wii w/ wheels that were brand new (from the consoles bundles; I took off the plastic to make it less suspicious) and they were deemed to be not "like new." Absolute lie on their part.

I think their rejection criteria has more to do with how hungry they are for any given item; which would explain why some Like New specimens are knocked down or returned while other scratched-to-hell discs and cart-onlys are gleefully accepted. Gamestop seems to be the same way on trade-ins, where they're more worried about being "oversupplied" than the actual condition.
