Agreed, that's how Jack the Ripper got started you know!

Mrs Ripper - "I don't think little Jack should be playing an E +10 rated game."
Mr Ripper " Pfft, stop moaning, whats the worst that can happen ?"

i just think having a five year old play video games or watch extended amounts of TV is basically encouraging the development of A.D.D. Guess we will find out who is right in a couple of years,
I don't think kids in the future will know how to actually write. They'll know how to text and type like they're born with it though.

Have you tried writing lately? Especially if your job doesn't require it. It's so awkward. I barely know how to write in cursive anymore.
+1 I have been printing exclusively since high school since people were not able to read my cursive. 15 years later I am at a point where they can't read my printing anymore.

My print sucks. I only write in cursive, since I always get complements.

Okay, I need some opinions. I'm trying to decide if I should buy some of these games or not. Right now, the total of what I want is $80, averaging the price to around $16. The games I'm looking at are:

LittleBigPlanet :psp: - The game is $20 every where I have looked and most places only have a few copies, not sure if I will be able to find it for much less.

Toy Story Mania :wii: - I wish it was a little cheaper, but I'm a big Toy Story fan so I have been waiting for a decent price on this game and it never seems to drop.

Ratchet and Clank A Crack In Time :ps3: - I have the other one for PS3 and have been waiting for this to drop in price, this is basically the same price I paid for the first, so I think it is a good deal.

Plants vs. Zombies :ds: I'm not sure if I will like this game because it isn't the normal style I like, but I have been wanting to try it and for the price it seems like a good time to try it.

ModNation Racers :ps3: I'm kind of on the fence about this one. I did the beta and wasn't a big fan, but I love kart racers. I like the idea of building my own tracks, but the price doesn't seem to be too good, although I haven't really seen it in store lately.

The main game I'm not sure about is ModNation Racers, but I think I may regret it if I don't buy it. I'm kind of thinking that maybe I should get the Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection instead, but that is another game I'm not too sure on.

While I was getting ready to post this I saw Sonic All Star Racing is really cheap as well, so I think I may throw that into the mix.

So, what do you guys this I should do, get them all, skip some I would really appreciate your help :D

Is DDR for ps3 anygood? my gf wants me to buy 2 of those bundles for $60 n trade in the game for $8, so $52 for DDR and 2 dance mats...anyone play the new one?
We have all the ps2 ddrs, but would love to play to some new songs/on ps3...

Picked up Ratchet & Clank yesterday, decided to order Little Big Planet this morning, but it was out of stock. Alas! It's for the best anyway with Portal 2 coming out next week.

Lame. The only games I care about are ones I already have (or they're not quite cheap enough for me to buy just yet). Oh well. Can't wait for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals later in the year.

That's nonsense. These things have not been found to be linked to ADD/ADHD. In fact, few people actually develop the disorder; they are merely diagnosed later than they should've been. In most cases, it is either genetic or caused by mutation set on by a number of poisons/drugs/diseases. Either way, the disorder is usually developed in the womb. Kids with ADHD are certainly more inclined to watch TV or play games, but a child interested in these activities is not prone to develop ADHD. And let's not forget the fact that most children have low attention spans anyway, regardless of what distractions are around them.

I don't speak for everyone, of course, but watching television as a child often inspired me to read and learn. As silly as it may sound, I learned the alphabet by watching Sesame Street and I was able to read by the age of 3. Reading Rainbow got me riding my bike to the library every day so I could check out new books. By the time I was in school, I was reading young adult novels. There's no way my mother ever could've inspired me to start reading at such a young age, especially with her being so busy. Granted, many children don't react this way, but it is often because they already have an issue of some sort or they simply aren't watching the right things.

Also, I would like to point out that I have been gaming since I was 4 years old. That's over 20 years of video games and while I can't say I'm necessarily normal, I don't have any significant mental or social disorders. I'm a happy man with a beautiful wife and a perfect (and advanced!) little boy. In a couple of years, I'm going to have no qualms introducing him to video games. Depending on whether or not he takes a genuine interest, I plan on giving him a modded Wii for his 4th or 5th birthday.
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time for $15 is pretty good, but yeah, nothing much to see here.
Agreed, was about to post just that, I'm picking that one up!
Maybe you have kids - I don't know - but I'm always "amused" when people without kids give out their decrees about how to raise kids, as if they have even the slightest idea of what they are talking about.
Yeah, no kidding, 5 is when I started playing the Atari 2600 and I turned out fine.
Toy Story 3 is tempting but the wifey isn't letting my 5 year old playing E +10 games anymore.
Kinda silly, since Toy Story 3 would be perfect for that age. It's only +10 because honestly, a lot of elements in the game are way too difficult for a 5 year old to understand, and the game can be hard even for an adult. I should know, I finished it. Great game. I played it when I probably should have been playing Crysis 2 instead.

Have to play all the kids games now before my soon to be son grows up and mocks me for it.

Thanks again for posting this. Amazon managed to just take $105 from me :D They were all games I have been wanting since release and I figure an average of $15 a piece is a good deal!
Ah, well I was referring to waiting on a used one. I really wish Gamefly would throw it back up for their ridiculously cheap price.
Yeah, even used you'll have trouble tracking down one for under $20. For new, that's a solid price. I've had my eye on that game for a good while. I eventually caved and got it through Goozex since I had the credit laying around, even though it's kinda overpriced there if you ask me.

I´m always glad to help
A five year old really shouldn't be playing video games anyways.
why? it would help with problem solving and decision making. anything to stimulate their minds is good at young ages.

Ah, looking for advice on how to raise your children?

Look no further than a video game forum!

Thanks internet!

Hmm on the fence with Toy Story 3. Any chance to find games my 3 1/2 year old can play I'm interested in, just wondering if i can get this lower in the future.
