As long as the serial number hasn't been registered yet, you're fine. My Day One edition ended up showing up nearly brand new and wasn't registered yet so I was good.

Here's a question I obviously have now that I'm going to have a used XBO in hand soon... how do you find out if the serial number has been registered?

 
Does this sound like a dinger? I really want a wii u, and I found one amazon sold with this description. It's in very good condition.

Used - Very Good

Fully playable game is included; downloadable content (DLC) or codes for online play may require additional purchase. Packaging may be damaged.
 
I REALLY prefer my stuff to be like new, but I kinda want to get it.

Sounds like a dinger as in damage is going to be just on the packaging.

If you plan on getting titanfall, I would wait to try for dingers next week on the 11th. Even if you don't get a dinger, you would effectively be paying $420 + $40 for Titanfall (best deal so far is BBY that has it for $48 + $10 GC if GCU) so $460 total at best. Or pony up $40 for a new one.

Just register the serial # on xbox.com. If it hasn't been registered, then you are good to go with the manufacturers warranty. I got lucky (kind of), I got a Day One off AWD and the disk drive was faulty, but the serial # wasn't registered yet. So i packed up the console and shipped it off the MS for free repair.

I am assuming you are referring the wiiu and if the damage is not to the packaging (either to that or what you are getting) you can return it since it is listed in very good condition citing the fact it wasn't in very good condition based on your observation.
