I've never seen this before but I ordered a Motorola Triumph (Virgin) phone two days and went back today to check the page to see if the price dropped or anything since then (in hopes of matching it) but the product is now listed as under review. Here's the text:

Item Under Review

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Mine has already shipped so I don't know whether or not I should worry about getting a shoddy product or not. Anybody know what this actually means?

It happens time to time, I've seen it done with Video Games and Blu-Ray. I think the recent Persona game had this status for a while. I believe they just received a lot of complaints on the product or Amazon found out about a problem and put the item on hold instead of risking sending out faulty items.

I see... looks like the 3DS suffered the same fate recently. Man, now I'm worried that I'm gonna get a shoddy phone...:whistle2:k

Sometimes its not the product itself but its the way they package it that damages the box or product. For example, I've seen large collector edition books go under review because they'd ship them with no protection and the dust jackets would be torn to shreds by the time the book arrived. With the books they charge extra for shipping now, probably because they have to specially pack them.

Gears of War 3 CE guide was like that, as well as my wife's hardbound copy of the new Abarat book. Never learned the GoW3 reason, but the Abarat book was cause some people reported that some of the pages were upside down, due to printing error. So never can tell. Let us know how it turns out.

Well, I guess it doesn't matter now... I just got my phone today but Virgin's store had a sale (and a coupon) making it $110 cheaper ($240 at Amazon vs $130 at Virgin).
