ABD? Not all of us have wasted our lives getting a degree as a social "worker", prey do explain.

All But Dissertation.

For those unfamiliar, I often hear of sociology and social work being confused. For someone of your self-professed genius, however, I will simply assume you are making a funny, and are fully aware of this analogy:

Social work: Sociologist
CTLesq: Relevance

You are a lawyer and you are making fun of someone elses job?

What's wrong with this picture?

Bottom line: Both are equally irrelevant.

As opposed to the modern American version of lawyers, who have everybody in America afraid to say or do anything that could cause "emotional damage" and who have crippled the ability of doctors to perform their job (yes, I include VP candidate Edwards as part of the problem)

You don't need a sociologist to tell you that America's legal system is sucking the life blood out of this great nation.

I hope not; my areas are corrections and social movements (although I'm also submitting a publication on professional wrestling to a sport journal on the side  )

Corrections and social movements make it necessary for me to know a fuckton about sociological issues of race as well, but I'll leave the expert work to the experts there.

I've been thinking of the DiIulio letter (google it if you feel the pinch to) all morning, so I'm not prone to disagreeing that scholarly work and scientific work have no place in politics.

Like that asshole (Cooney? Cooley?) who edited the global warming report manuscripts to omit any causal indicators of the energy industry's liability; this, despite having no formal scientific training. Now he's going to work for Exxon.

sigh. Yep, irrelevant it is.

CTL this whole college bit is childish, and when he did finally tell you you just mocked it, even more childish (and sociology is no irrelevent). What he knows and how he can argue is visible on this board, whether he has a degree is irrelevent.

Meh, I was being childish too, FWIW. I am curious about what CTL does for a living, though.
As I have advocated before, I think they should build them again, but 1 story higher. Then they should make the top floor a memorial to those who died in the attacks.
Speaking from experience, thats the one post worth reading in this thread.

What the hell is wrong with you guys? It's a thread about what to do with the place of death of 3,000 people, and you turn it into a pssing match about credentials.

You don't need a fucking degree to have an opinion.
