Well the US as a whole didnt go wrong with education alone, its a small part but this country is built on not much of anything, we have a incredibly fragile foundation that is starting to crack.
The problem is this is a country or right now's and quick fixes, no one cares about long term anything and thats killing us slowly. We are also a very selfish country in terms of what we need a money, no one wants to work for the greater good, no one wants to work with others, no one really wants to make things equal in a economic point of view. The people in power or the wealthy are only concerned about themselves and what they can do to make more money quickly. In this country 10% of the people own 90% of the money while 90% of the people do all the work but make 10% of the money.
Especially with money problems everyone is having the once middle class america is teetering on the edge of losing what they have or having problems keeping it because there is no room for them to go up as easily as they once could. And all of its due to our weak infrastructure.
I know people that have engineering degrees that work stocking shelves at pet smart, I know a eldery retired couple that have to work part time at mcdonalds so they can have decent health insurance, a friend of mine that used to be very well off doing personal finance for business owners had to file bankruptcy because his 2 biggest clients couldnt afford to pay him what they owed him. Im not saying everyone is bad off because alot arent but we have as a whole screwed alot of people because we simply dont care about them or care about their futures.
You can even see it in politics from the past 20 years, everytime the government actually does something for the american public its always long after the problem has gotten bad and its always a quick fix. Like stimulus packages are a horrible idea because its only good for maybe 3 hours, "Yeah people are in the shitter, here lets send everyone 300 bucks" all that does is give people enough money to be able to do shit with it and adds more to the governments budget problems, it has no long term effects. And thats what the government does, it sends one man out to try to patch a crack in a dam that is falling apart with water coming over the top of it instead of looking at the dam while it was still in good shape and saying "What can we do to make sure this dam stays in good condition and will continue to work".
