I got my Yunobo in today (or sometime this weekend) from booksamillion. It was I think the only site with pre-order outside nintendo.

Can't wait until Target starts to clearance the new $40 Street Fighter amiibo. They don't appear to be selling at all in the stores near me.

I now have half a large suitcase of amiibo after visiting the Nintendo Kyoto store (and my older kid got limited Splatoon 3 poster). The pricing in Japan is where it should be at. A huge wall of amiibo at the store - no hunting for characters anymore.

I am not sure I will bite. They are not characters I even care about. They should have had Cammy or Chun-Li

They were trying to push the new characters. I imagine we would have eventually gotten Chun-Li and the other popular ones had they sold well, but like you I haven't seen them moving so chances are long. They are larger than regular Amiibo, but not $10 more larger. These days Amiibo are more collectibles and likely were priced that way with that in mind along with the tariff situation, but $40 isn't an impulse buy. $30 isn't either, but it was somewhat tolerable for new Zelda ones releasing alongside a new console. I'll probably pick it up if one comes out for Metroid Prime 4, but at $30 the days are gone when it would be an instant preorder with a new big game.

I get they are trying to PUSH the new characters. But nobody really cares about them like they do the old ones
