an ipod or psp?

hi guys,

i need some help for the situaution i am in, should i get an iPod (a full one, not the nano or shuffle) or a PSP?

i really only listen to podcasts, and i know that they both can play videos, although the psp is cheaper, if i get a big enough memory card could i throw an emulator onto it and play actually good games?

granted, because the iPod is a grad present, maybe i should just get that and a DS instead?

sorry for the small rambling, i guess i am just looking for some more insight from people that know these items better than i do.
 
The iPod plus DS combo gives you more for your money, considering you get alot of music/video storage space plus a kickass handheld (make sure you get the DS Lite next month).

The PSP is a very awesome portable console, but factor in the cost of a good memory card, a case (I recommend Play Gear Pocket) and perhaps a screen protector and this could cost you more then the above combo or equal to it.

However, let's overlook various aspects of this choice:

Case 01: Listening to Music

I would choose the iPod, just for the sole fact that its primary focus is music playback. The PSP has a good music player and all, but it's bulky compared to an iPod.

Case 02: Watching movies

I would go with the PSP. The screen for the PSP is flat out awesome, in fact it's better than some of the TVs in my house. Naturally widescreen, the movie playback looks sharp (depends on the quality of the media conversion) and crisp on its LCD screen.

I don't know about the iPod's video playback (I only own a Nano), so I have no hands-on expierence with it.

Case 03: Playing Games

Ok, this really depends on the genres of games you like to play. If you want console quality games on a portable, then PSP is for you. If you want something different for your portable games, then DS is for you. I have played games on both consoles and enjoyed them alot. It's a rather tough decision, so I would recommend that you get some hands-on time with both systems and go for the one that is best for you.

Final thought: I would go with the iPod + DS combo, since you are getting more for your money then just a PSP.

Estimated cost:

iPod ($300 - $400, for this sake I'm going with the $300 model) + DS Lite ($130) = $430

PSP ($200) + Mem stick (let's say $60) + Case ($20) = $280
 
hey thanks, i think i am going to go with the ipod and DS lite, since then i can throw on all my music onto the player and podcasts/iptv, and and ill be able to get mario kart and brain age.
