An unusual trade-in question

I'm going to be taking advantage of the Gamestop 50% trade in deal sometime this week, and get a couple of games for my DS. One of the games I want to put trade credit towards is Nintendogs, which comes out 8/22. Only problem is, by that time, I'll be far, FAR away at school. So I'm wondering, is there anyway to preorder at the Gamestop, and have them either transfer this credit to their online store or to a store at another location?

If you reserve than no, they aren't supposed to transfer credit to another store.
 
They can't transfer credit, but they *can* send the game over if need be. I reserved a copy of Zelda: Twilight Princess down at my college. Problem is - I'm not sure it'll make it to the store before I go home for break.

The manager said that if such a scenario happens, he can send the game + extras to a local gamestop in my home town.

May be YMMV, but I hope not.

Am I able to do that? I was under the impression that you 1)weren't allowed to put put credit on your Gamestop card, because 2)you HAD to spend it there. I know this is what ebgames does anyway, and I assume Gamestop would follow suit.

I assume you're talking about the Game Informer Card? Your credit isn't immediately applied to a gift card or the GI card. It's just a credit receipt that you can use at ANY store; even stores that are under the GS label, but aren't GameStops (Babbage's, Software Etc., etc.)

When you finish the transaction, they'll print your credit out on a receipt. Just keep that, and use it at whatever store you want.

Huh? I'm not sure about how Gamestop does it although I'm pretty sure you can just get store credit...but I work for EB Games and you can just get the credit put on your EDGE card. You can then spend the credit at any EB Games store in nationwide.
 
At gamestop that give you a receipt with your credit on it that you can use at any gamestop. Just trade them in and resist their influence to preorder something and then pocket the receipt, and if you are afraid to hang on to a receipt, ill give you my address and you can send it to me....(joking about the last part)
