Analysts predict PS3 to outsell Xbox2 by 3x in europe

Wow that's one of the biggest bunk articles I've seen in a while. It's like they take the trend of the last year, and just factor it out for 8, and doesn't take into account any type of innovations, either hardware or software, that may arise.

//mental note: don't trust informa media reports

This reminds me of those articles that are coming out every other day now. "Kerry ahead of Bush among likely voters!" Two days later..."Bush ahead of Kerry among likely voters!"

I don't care who 'wins' as long as I get some good games out of it.

I don't care who wins the next console war, but I have learned that "hardware innovations" only matter to those few harcore fans that actually pay any attention to what's inside the box. Most sales are because of brand loyalty and game selection.

Brand loyalty is exactly right. Those of us who've been loyal to Sony will stick with them until they give us a reason not to. Same with the Xbox fans. I was a diehard Sega fan until the Saturn. As far as mainstream games went, Saturn just didn't have it. That's when I made the switch. I still love Sega (and still have my Saturn) but they sure left me craving more gaming and Sony filled that void.

yup. games sell systems, hardware sells poop.
If i could buy gran turismo 4 on a turbo grafix, id be all over it.

games sell period

You all seem to be forgetting that not one title has been announced for any of these systems (read SOFTWARE INNOVATIONS), final hardware specs do have impact on the games that they will play, and saying who'll sell the most consoles is like saying that the NJ Devils will win the Stanley Cup in 2010 because they've been consistent.

The game market is in constant flux, available games, the availability of the hardware, and pricing all play major roles in the success of a console, and it is far, far to early to call a winner.

i think that they did confirm that the ps3 will be backwards compatible with both ps2 and ps1 games so that might be a good reason that it might outsell the xbox2.

You mean you were loyal during the SegaCD and 32X travesties ?

THAT'S dedication!

Haha... travesties... that's true though, that word is quite apt in describing those Sega failures. Apt!

And how disappointing is that Xbox2 isn't set to be backwards compatible. :(
