Konami has put out a collection of picross puzzles for iOS and Android. It's free, has no IAPs, and has a ton of puzzles (it looks like about 500) themed around Konami's franchises. Although the listing says it contains ads, I haven't seen any in about an hour of playing it.

I've got a few Android devices to play television games on, but my only tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. I also have a JXD 7800 and a Shield Portable. No Android phone at this point. Apps and games don't work across all devices, so not being nosy! Just curious how you got it to work.

It's a good game with controller support. Recommended.

That's odd. The play store says the app is compatible with my kids' Galaxy Tab As as well. That should be lesser or even in specs/OS to your Tab 2, I think.

There could be any number of reasons why it isn't compatible. It would be nice if they would let you claim any free app whether it's compatible or not, but they're probably afraid of some dumbass bringing a lawsuit against Google if the app doesn't work.

I have a cheap Insignia tablet. The store listing said it that the app wasn't "optimized for this device", but other than occasionally flipping the screen upside down, it's worked.

I just downloaded it tonight and have gotten some ads, but they're just static image popups on the home screen after finishing puzzles (all for a soccer game app, which is the same ad other people mentioned getting in the app's reviews). No video ads or anything intrusive. Solid picross game (actually, the controls and auto-fill make it a bit less tedious than some of the 3DS picross games).

What would I recommend from this group of games?  I've personally played and enjoyed Death Point, Hell, The Dungeon Again, and PixelTerra.  And, I've heard good things about Nimian Legends, Prune, and Sentinels of the Multiverse.  But, as usual, claim all the freebies especially Hitman Sniper.  Delete 'em if you hate 'em.

Not gaming related but sounds like Google Play could be giving free 4K upgrades like iTunes currently does. Would be a huge deal if they did so fingers crossed!

It's like a 2D grid based Minecraft. I like it a lot. There are a 100 crafting recipes to find which supposedly gives it a long shelf life, and you can set the difficulty level and remove starvation in the options if you want. Touchscreen only though.

I run NetGuard (Free Open Source) with a DNS blacklist to block resolving the hostnames of common ad servers. I haven't seen a single ad in this game and I have the latest version.

My recommendations from this batch would be Doom & Destiny, PowBall Renaissance, and SnakEscape.  I've heard good things about 1979 Revolution, Machinarium, and Trine 2 since they're console/PC ports.  And Aralon is a poor man's Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, so free is the perfect price for it.  In other words, it's my Elder Scrolls: Oblivion...or it would be if I didn't already own it on at least two other platforms.

In other news, the Gunman Clive and Helium Boy Android ports have been quietly delisted from Google Play, but they're still available on the Amazon AppStore if anyone gives a damn.

If you can't cash out that annuity (J.G. Wentworth says it's your money), I'd go with anything from OrangePixel.  OrangePixel is one guy, and he makes some amazing 2D games, IMO.  I've bought all of them and still play them regularly.  All are low-end friendly, so they should work on most phones with no problem.  And if you pass up the sales on Death Road to Canada and Wayward Souls, I'm coming to your house.  :shock:

Believe it or not, the standout deal here IMO is Thimbleweed Park.  $4.99 is the lowest this game has gone since it was released on Google Play.  It's mine.  Also, fun fact - Wizrogue was developed by Taito and is an installment in the Wizardry series.  Buy something so my afternoon wasn't spent in vain.

I don't have it, but one of the great things about Google Play is that you have up to two hours after you buy an app to uninstall it and request a refund if you don't like it or if it doesn't work on your device. I believe this is because there are so many Android models out there that they can't guarantee that an app will be compatible, so they give you a chance to get your money back if it doesn't work. So, buy if it you have the funds and uninstall/refund if it doesn't work offline. I wouldn't recommend abusing this feature though. You don't want to risk a Google account ban because you refunded too many apps.

Everyone should add Sigi - A Fart for Melusina to their libraries while it's free.  It's a 2D platform game - think Super Mario Bros mixed with Ghouls and Ghosts and farts.  Imagine - if Mario broke wind at the end of each stage, he'd probably be an even bigger star than he is today.

i mostly have a question about infosec apps though. I have used avg pro from amazon's app store for the last five yrs or so since I got it in a deal back in the day. I noticed that it was de-listed. There is still a webpage on amazon.com but within the amazon appstore app, it is gone so there is no way to download it now.

What andorid deal on an anti-malware app should I be looking from from now until bf and cyber monday? does malwarebytes ever go on sale? it is so expensive but is the only app I use in windows 10 and it is the best app there.

I basically want a small footprint app like malwarebytes on windows from a respectable company, but not sure where to go on android. i am trying to avoid companies that I know are trash like lookout, mcafee, kapersky (look up russian backdoors), etc.

I am also trying to avoid advertising and apps that invade your personal information etc.

Some console ports can be had for pennies if you're patient, and some are still overpriced when they're on sale.
