Animal Crossing... If this is a good game what am I missing?

CAGiversary!
Howdy,

I picked up Animal Crossing about 3 weeks ago and either I'm missing something, (either a Chromosome or a game fact) or this game is as fun as mowing your yard or ironing your clothes. I can only play it about 20 minutes before it becomes overly repetitive and boring.

I'm trying to give it a go, but am ready to chuck it and try to finish Skies of Arcadia or Conkers.

Any thoughts?

Well, Animal Crossing is the kind of game where you either are going to like it or not have the patience for it. A friend of mine was hooked on it for a long time when he got it. In a world filled with shooting, racing and otherwise noisy games, sometimes it's nice to take a nice relaxing break in the world of Animal Crossing. But if you really don't want it, you can always give it to me :D
Sell it to me cheap. I want it
Well before I see it cheap I'll make my hosehead brother play it for 80 hours straight since he literally kidnapped my children and made me buy this goofy game.

sm9k!

Well, aside from the things you mentioned, you can decorate your home with lovely trinkets, help out your neighbors and just be a happy little animal guy (or girl) :)

I play video games specifically so that I can read incipid, inane dialog endlessly, with no hope of it ever ending.

I played 10 minutes of this game and vowed to smash all copies within my reach from that moment forward.

There are events on holidays, and donating to the museum can be quite addictive. I found it to be the most fun when playing with three other people b/c we would compete for the same resources in the game. Also, shopping at Nook's can be quite fun, and upgrading the store is rewarding. It's like another world, aka the sims, and it lets you relax and live some other animal's life. Try it out with some friends, and play it on holidays. Also try collecting furniture sets in your house and so forth. If not, sell it!!!

Well it is a game that you either hate or love. What surprises me is that no one has mentioned the ability to play certain NES games. To some that in itself is reason enough to play Animal Crossing. I sold my copy because I was just well, getting bored with some of it. You could also play the original Zelda and original Mario, but only if you have a cheating device, so I never got to try them out, but like the other games I'm assuming they are just as they were in the original. The Wario World game is pretty fun though (was that the name...I remember getting it on the island...oh yeah Wario Woods).

I played it for about 15 minutes daily for three months. I got all the house upgrades and filled my fossil museum, and then lost interest and stopped playing. It's fun for awhile but there's only so much you can do in the game before you start running out of goals.

yea its a great game that keeps you hooked until you fill most of the requirements then you're kinda ready to quit . a lot more replay value comes in when a friend has a copy of the game and you can visit their town by hopping on the train and putting their memorycard in slot 2 . talk to their villagers and shop in their town etc ..

you like the sims?

Me neither.

My wife on the other hand likes both. She played the crap out of Animal Crossings and then it got old.

If you do like simulation games then create a few more towns or get someone else to play in yours. you can catch different fisha nd use a GBA to go to the island. Other than that there is not much to it.

The nes games are good but those are avaialble in other places.

There must be a specific chromosome that makes you like SIM type games.. my Sister in law hates Video games in general but LOVES the SIMS. myself.. I love VIDEOGAMES in general but Hate the SIMS and ANIMAL CROSSING. Coincidence?

The game is only ment to be played for 10-20 minutes a day, nthat's the point of it. Then you get NES games. :)

People either love it or hate it, don't like it sell it.

Its just strange or at least unusual for a game to be designed to be played 10-20 min. a day (plus special holidays)

You are just use to playing your crappie "shoot everything in sight" PS2 and Xbox games to see how Nintendo (once in a blue moon) tries something different

Simple Breakdown from all of the posts:
You are either going to love it and be hooked on it, or hate it.

This game has nothing to do with preference with the Sims, or if you like games at all in general.

Me and my cousin both despise the sims, yet were both hooked on Animal Crossing for a few months. The only thing is once you put it down you really aren't going back to it, but if you like it and dont put it down your going to forget what reality is like.

Of course there is the part about you possibly not liking it, in that case....
Hey look on the bright side, at least it can NEVER be as bad as Turok evoloution or BMXXX

I had it. The game is pretty boring except for holidays and events on certain days of the week and stuff. If you check those out it will last a lil while.
