Anime DVD Artboxes?

I have some anime dvds that I would like to get the artboxes for. I wouldn't mind paying like 10-15 dollars an artbox. I don't want the actual DVDs, just the box. I missed out on a couple and now I want my collection to look nice.
Anyone know any sites that sell the artboxes alone?
Am I like on a raft without a paddle, and the only paddle nearest me is on ebay?
This guy does excellent work, although it is going to cost you more than $15 a box. He does custom boxes for movies too. All aluminum cases and he will also customize them. If you can afford it, I would recommend these.

That trigun one is absolutely stunning, but i wouldn't lay down 40 bucks (that is after shipping for it) for the case. Well, maybe I would because I love Trigun, but not right now anyway.

I was more thinking about the artboxes they give you if you buy them with the box and some little extra (sometimes a keychain, a t-shirt, etc.)

I would highly recommend it if you have the money. These cases are stunning and put most of the cardboard ones to shame. I got the Cowboy Bebop one before Bandai asked him to stop making them and I would never go back. Good luck in your search.

What are you looking for? I have the X tv series box & Hellsing box that I don't need. Had them on my trade list at one point but they generated zero interest, so I removed them.

Well, these series Specifically

Elfen Lied
Gantz (The one that fits 6 dvds and comes with volume 1)
Peacemaker
Samurai Champloo
Samurai 7 (Did they make artboxes for that series? I know about the collectors editions of each dvds, but..)
Trigun

They did- there were 3 versions of volume 7: the standalone disc, the disc+ box, and the Limited Edition. the box only holds the single discs, not the big-ass boxes the LEs came in.

By my experience, it's all but impossible to find just artboxes- and I've done quite a bit of hunting! In fact, I've only suceeded twice. I got one was putting up an ad here saying "will buy artboxes for these shows, name your price", and got my Kiddy Grade box. I got another via Rightstuf.com. Other than that, I'd had to re-buy DVDs.

You best bet will be to prowl around the web (Amazon especially) and look for good deals on the vol 1+ box sets, and sell the DVD to make up the extra cost. Watch Rightstuf/Animenation/ Robert's Corner Anime Store too- sometimes when a series first puts out its boxset, they'll get in some empty ones. They tend to sell pretty quick, so jump if you see it.

And lastly... if anyone wants to sell me the artbox for Lunar Legend Tsukihime, do PM me. ;)

I've looked into this one myself and about 8 months of loking yeilding nothing but ebay (which I hate with a passion) and sometimes even that didn't work.

However, I do own one of the ones you seek. I have the box for Peacemaker and just PM your info to me and I'll send it to ya, no trades or charge required. Why? Because the thing has just been sitting on my computer desk for over a year with a couple other boxes not doing a damn thing (I converted most anime sets I bought to multidisk cases w/ custom covers to save space sometime ago) and I'm just that nice.

what are you looking for for the Hellsing box? PM a brother
Samurai 7 (I had sealed vol. 7 w/ Artbox) if you wanted it can have it. You can trade for game or you can pay me $18 shipped.
CML then.

IIRC, Best buy has quite a few of the ADV boxes for under $15. TRSI's Bargain Bin might have some leftovers from the Bountiful deal a few months back.

I bought from that sale.

As long as we're on the subject, has anybody got the Chobits box and are willing to part ways with it for a fair price?

Looking for an Evangelion Perfect edition box (the black one with the red foil eyes of the EVA-01 unit) if anyone has one of those.

Was the first season of Ghost in the Shell SAC ever released with a standard cardboard artbox? the only thing I can find is the current Complete Collection, which has a cheesy paper box that completely encloses the DVD cases, rather than being open at one end.

The first season of GITS had a metal box that it came with in one of the limited editions.

If you're looking for an artbox, i'd recommend emailing the company that makes the show you're looking for. Just like replacement inserts/books for games, sometimes they'll send you replacement boxes. I've personally switched from a large Love Hina artboxes to the smaller one by asking.

My suggestion is to do what most people have said. That is, to buy the first dvd (or sometimes the last one) of the series that comes with the collector's box. Especially if you say you are willing to pay $10-$15 per box. With the DDD 20% off sale going on now, you can find a better price as well.

You'll want to confirm that these come with the box sets, but I listed the ones that I'm fairly sure do. At least, "Keep Case," is listed under features for the dvds. And you can always sell the dvd to offset the costs after you purchase them.

Elfen Lied - $26.85 - $21.38 with 20% discount

Gantz - $18.61 - $14.89 with 20% discount

"Keep Case" means the discs come in a plastic case. None of these three come with artboxes.

Are you serious? That's pretty lame. I see that the correct term on DDD is, "Collector's Art Box." I edited my original post to reflect the two left that actually have the box.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I came across this thread while Googling for anime DVD artboxes and thought I'd give this request a try.

Does anyone here have the following artboxes that he/she doesn't mind letting go for a price? Please PM me as any help would be greatly appreciated!

How many dvds is Mahoromatic one designed to hold? I might need it

Just to be sure- you know what 'bailey box' means, right? Just a clear plastic box with a paper insert that doesn't even go all the way around the box (you'll see the front of one DVD.) It's really not worth tracking down stand-alone.

(Still need that Tsukihime box, by the way...;))

I got the part 1, act 2 or w/e set for FMA, but it's ugly. Anyone have cases for vlumes 5, 6, and 7? (and pehaps discs and cases for the rest of the series xD)

That FMA case from the customer designer would be a buy if i had the entire series.

Yeah, I knew about the plastic-box-with-(reversible)-insert part but didn't know the insert was poorly designed like that. That's a shame. Thanks for the heads-up. Guess I'll seek someone to customize a nice artbox for the series...
