 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

I was going to make fun of Right Stuf's year-end sale, but I can't even be bothered to do that this year.

Additional 10% off any in-stock item that is eligible for coupons/discounts.

Aww! I wish the Blu was $30. I'd bite on that price. Seriously I really want to own this show. :(
heheh, I really think y'all should spring for the Japanese Blu-ray box sets of Gargantia instead, as I did - getting it that way is only about $400 instead of $10 - it has the two new OVAs that aren't available in the US, and best of all, it doesn't even have a dub - it's sub-only! Hmmm, Ok - maybe those aren't quite cheap enough for here, lol... :whistle2:k

Hey well, It's a pretty set, at least... 8-[

They're not grouping right though. If you put 3x $20 and 3x $10 titles, two of the $10 titles will be free.

Edit: There goes 3 hours and $200.

Dragonball Z Full Color Volumes 1-3: $24
D.Gray Man Volumes 1-24: $72
Rasetsu Volumes 1-9: $27
Black Bird Volumes 1-9: $30

If I didn't already own most of these titles, I would be ordering some of these bundles from the funimation sale.  Their storefront completely sucks. It will take you 1-2+ months to get your items.  But you really can't beat these prices.  A few of these titles are some of the best anime series of all-time, at all-time low pricing, assuming you have the patience to wait a couple months for your order to get fulfilled.

Ghost in the Shell: Arise collection  $39.99  http://shop.funimation.com/Ghost-in-the-Shell-Arise-Collection

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood collection  $59.99  http://shop.funimation.com/FMA-Brotherhood-Collection-Bundle

4movie collection Akira, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, Sakura Wars $49.99  http://shop.funimation.com/Theatrical-Features-Collection-Bundle

Fairy Tail collections 1-5 (episodes 1-120)  $99.99  http://shop.funimation.com/Fairy-Tail-Five-Pack-Bundle

Dragonball Z seasons 1-9 bundle $159.99  http://shop.funimation.com/SEASONS-1-9-BD-BUNDLE

Space Dandy complete (w/s2 LE funi exclusive)  $59.99 http://shop.funimation.com/Space-Dandy-Complete-Bundle

Guilty Crown complete series bundle $49.99  http://shop.funimation.com/Holiday-Bundle-Guilty-Crown

Here's the link to the full sale:  http://shop.funimation.com/Shop/Shop_Filter.ss?roi=echo3-31380400771-32540706-2c2161950a281aaed12fe3ec91dd5e6e&scategory=1339156&utm_source=2015-12-28&utm_medium=email&utm_content=heroimage&utm_campaign=shop_holiday_sale#

I highly recommend getting GitS, FMA brotherhood, and Fairy Tail at these prices.

another thing of note which I have been meaning to ask here...I don't believe I was charged on my credit card at all for each of my last two Funimation.com orders.  Has this happened to anyone else as well?

Hmm...I might actually bite on this. I don't suppose there are any coupon codes for Funimation's site?

EDIT: Actually, considering both seasons of Space Dandy are $31.99 at Amazon right now and I doubt the Funi-exclusive version of S2 is all that worthwhile, I might pass.

Are the DBZ full color volumes done, or are they just coming out at a snail's pace?

Also, anyone know what's the deal with the Inuyasha digital manga license? i bought a few of the 3-in-1s on Viz's site, and while I can redownload those, I can't buy any additional volumes.

does that space dundy S2 limited edition comes with a chipbox that will allow us to hold both S1 and S2 in it? I thought they already made a chipbox for the S1 LE....

I ordered the Dragonball Sets that was $69.99 back in August and they just now charged me for it after it was shipped in November.

I'm going for Space Dandy bundle because it seems to be a hell of a deal. Please talk me out of it!

Would be $50 for me since I got a $10 off promo code for the AoT screw up they did.

*edit* Too late!

Well, I guess it's too late but my comment would have been that it's still costing you $60 regardless of where that extra $10 comes from.

If you didn't buy this deal, you would have still had $10 store credit to go towards something else.

You're right especially since the code doesn't even expire. I feel less bad about it though since it was literally a freebie due to an error on their end. People that ordered the Attack on Titan colossal bundle should be familiar with this. They are actually offering that same bundle now for $50 which was $40 back in early October....

It's still a good deal, that was the only argument I could find against it other than if you already owned season 1. :)

Though if you do own Season 1 with the chipboard box like I do, then I'd just buy the $32 one off Amazon.

Going to be honest. I also already have the first season of Dandy which is way I was hesitate. I bought this bundle mainly for the LE S2 because off the imo superior chipbox and awesome artcards which I believe Japan used as the actual cover for individual release. The UK edition also came artcards but 20. Here is ten but it's double the size of the UK. Will be giving S1 to a friend as a birthday gift.

Gargantia arrived today and includes the two ova. Very nice for $10. Still orderable on Amazon but temporarily oos.

Imagiiiine!
Just to let everyone know, the two OVA included on the VIZ Gargantia blu-ray here are not the ones in the separate release in Japan - the two OVA on the VIZ Blu-ray are basically two extra 24 minute episodes - The first OVA is Episode 14: Abandoned Armada, and the second is Episode 15: The Altar of the Pilgrim:

http://suisei-no-gargantia.wikia.com/wiki/Episode_14_-_Abandoned_Armada_(OVA)

http://suisei-no-gargantia.wikia.com/wiki/Episode_15_-_The_Altar_of_the_Pilgrim_(OVA)

The two OVA in the separate big box set from Japan are called Suisei no Gargantia: Meguru Kouro, Haruka, and is a continuing story that takes place just after the series ends. It is 106 minutes long (two 53 minute OVA) that introduces a new blonde girl character named Reema. The first new OVA was just coming out in theaters in Japan about the same time the VIZ Blu-ray was released here, in the fall of 2014 - the first OVA released on Japanese Blu-ray in November 2014, and the second OVA on Blu-ray in May of 2015. I don't know if there are any plans to release these new OVA on disc over here in the US or not - but almost two more hours of new Gargantia material is something to hope for, if you don't spring for the sub-only JP releases as I did...

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-06-19/new-gargantia-ova-cast-story-unveiled/.75718

So all you North American Gargantia fans, keep your fingers crossed!

Hmm that is a damn good price. I'm very tempted to backorder it. I really loved the lore.

I also really enjoyed the ovas Girls with Guns is talking about. Felt like a great addition to the story. And that tense fight at the end was perfect.

4movie collection Akira, Summer Wars, Wolf Children, Sakura Wars $49.99 http://shop.funimation.com/Theatrical-Features-Collection-Bundle
Weird bundle. Akira looks like it's just thrown in, and Sakura Wars is really out of place. Would've been more interesting if they could throw in Girl who leapt through time but Funi doesn't have the rights.

To be entirely fair sakura wars is just terrible...only way to get rid of it is through bundles.

I'm not a Japanese dub guy but man the English voices are beyond awful and the plot....it's some odd cross between mecha fighting, putting on a theater play, and secret military army and a side of harem

Sakura Wars is not helped by being an interquel to the games. It's actually canon and takes place between the 2nd game and the 3rd.

Then again, Sakura Wars canon in the West is all kinds of messed up since we only got the 5th game (which uses an entirely different cast) in English. Especially when it comes to Ayame. She is a major supporting character in the first game and the TV anime, but she dies in the 2nd game (and is thus missing in the movie) and is revived as a demon in the 3rd game, which is the form used in the Project X Zone games.

BTW, the games are basically dating sim RTS games. A major aspect is forging strong relationships with the various female members so that both you and your allies get powered up during battles. Yes, you get stronger using the Power of Love, even though you fight in steam-powered mecha.

Oh yea, and the theater stuff is because that's their day job. They run a theater and put on performance plays. It's the 1920's, this was still great entertainment back then.

Not a deal, but in case you haven't seen these yet:
