Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

Since it's on an Amazon drop fest, it's a good idea to let it sit there while it keeps dropping.

Sort of why I didn't keep bringing it up so people won't get desperate and start buying it and make the price go up again. :p

I'd think if we haven't seen one for 1-3 by now (a couple years after 4 and 5 got an anime classics release) that we are likely never going to see one.

I know they (Bandai?) cancelled the Japanese blu ray release they had planned a couple of years ago, but don't know if they revisited the project since then.

That's not very encouraging.

 
We shall forever be stuck with the mediocre CPM subs for Slayers... Such a shame since the series was one of the most popular about two decades ago.

For anyone wondering, El Hazard the Wanderers is a really fun alternative world anime (probably one of the earliest) from the creator of Tenchi Muyo, it also has a really good dub (especially considering it's a bit of an older dub)

Eh,it's good for the first 7 episodes,then just becomes a bunch of bland filler for the most part. Haven't watched the original OVA series,but this remake of it didn't have enough material for 26 episodes. It's a watch once and forget it show.

You may actually like Magnificent World a bit more then, because it's got a fairly different feel than Wanderers.

It's basically just what your preference is.

I would compare Wanderers to Tenchi Universe, which is basically a retelling of the original story, and changes several aspects from the original.

If you feel Wanderers may be a bit too goofy, and sidetrackey, you'd probably enjoy the original OVA series more as it's more direct and straight to the point, and more serious for the most part.

It's from the some studio, AIC, but not by the creator of Tenchi.

The original OVA is great, definitely recommend that one. I've rewatched it a few times and it still hold up (imo). The TV series is fine, though I haven't watched it in quite some time.

 
Yeah, completely different creator.

The art just looks really similar on some characters because it's from the same studio, which tends to happen fairly often.

 
Another underrated show is El Cazador de la Bruja. Charming and interesting characters, good story, and great action. It may seem to run a bit longer than necessary, but it's all means to an end.

For eleven bucks you could do much worse.

I didn't even realize Kingdom was released here, with a dub no less. But no Blu? And how have we not gotten the manga yet?
 
Anyone know what the differences are between the two Samurai 7 Blu releases? I'm assuming the Anime Classics one has a slipcase, but is that it?

Edit: OK, I am blind. One has the DVDs.

I haven't seen the newer series yet, so I can't comment on it, but the original Cobra was a lot of fun and RS's release looks great, especially considering the source material's age.

Got my RS order today. I got Usagi Drop bluray and fushigi yugi season one.

Usagi's discs were in mixed order and the discs were really hard to take out of their slots. For a second I thought they might have been glued. But I figured it out eventually. This was my first NiS release.

And fushigi was a disaster. I open it up to find the 3rd disc  flopping about. I tried to put it back in but it turned out the center piece is screwed because it's cheap plastic and broken. I had to manipulate it so it's popping out to keep the disc in. Be wary of this release. I've heard other people having problems with it.

It actually has pretty okay reviews, but I just didn't get it haha. All of the characters are so hollow and impossible to care about. And so much of what happens is so predictable and cringe worthy. It doesn't help that the dub was pretty bad. The show may be another beast altogether when subbed, so maybe that's it.

I would say it is. Its a really well done series with some great characters. It is filled with comedic and heartfelt moments. Gives a pretty good look at the process of creating anime, and has good amount of references to key people/companies in the anime industry. Episodes are available to stream on Crunchyroll, if you're still hesitant on buying or not. One of my favorite series in recent years.

Girls' High is hilarious. The description makes it sound more innocent than it is; rather than some moe slice of life, it's about a group of stupid, unkempt, raunchy, often selfish and petty girls getting themselves and others into crazy situations.
