 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Would NISA or Aniplex USA have rights to the release of the movie in the US?
I haven't seen any official announcement anywhere yet, but it seems that Aniplex still has the license for the movie as NISA only had the rights to the series since it was obtained before the film was made.

Hopefully it will go to NISA as anything Aniplex will become an instant gouge, and I don't feel like paying $50 for a movie.

It basically just
gives closure to the series, as it kind of ended abruptly, so it didn't really give much resolve to the other characters, and basically talks about how they cope with life anew.
You'd probably hate it if you never enjoyed the series, or cared for the characters to begin with.
I didn't hate the series. I just felt it was really forced. I prefered Tari Tari much more as a drama.

I just ship Anaru x Jinta.
Yea, I preferred Anaru to Menma... Sorry!

Isn't that the live action movie?
Yes, it is.

I'm in the same boat. I just bought Season 1 a few days ago, so I asked for an adjustment. Is there a limit on how many adjustments you can ask for before Amazon gets pissy or bans me (if that happens)? I've never asked for an adjustment before, but I think I'm going to start monitoring the prices of the items I purchase with camelcamelcamel to save some money.
camelcamelcamel.com is the best site for that tracking, as Blu-Ray.com does historical price data though camel^3's notification options are better plus they cover 3rd party new & used.

I have made like a good 15 adjustments or so since Xmas so I do not think they have a limit.
As long as it's within 7 days of receipt of delivery, they should take care of it with little to no effort. I know they have no post-purchase guarantee any longer, though I've seen the "within 7 days of delivery" phrase used more than once in the response emails when I've asked for adjustments post-purchase.

Its been a long time since I've ordered from RightStuf. Do they still ship nicely if you only order 1 or 2 things? I've stopped getting anything from Amazon that comes in a digipak or has a cardboard case because its always in an envelope and gets destroyed. thanks!

They usually just cardboard wrap one or two things, although if it's a bit bigger they'll do those smaller boxes.
with some packaging paper crumpled up inside.

I couldn't resist Robotech at that price. I passed on the previous complete set (without the movies) during BF 2012 and regretted it later. Just wish the packaging didn't have them all stacked like that.

If you're talking about RS listing it as a DVD/BR combo, that is kinda weird. Especially when Funimation slipped it into their already released schedule for March. You'd think they would at least notify people that were waiting on the BR months in advance instead of quietly slip it in a schedule(also explains why no one has it for $20 or under).

Still sitting on Kokoro Connect + OVAs from Best Buy. Do the OVAs provide a better end to the story? Because the end wasn't that great originally.

From what I remember the series didn't really end without the OVA's I think it was similar to how Oreimo s2 ended with the last few episodes airing separately from the main season a few months later.

Man I was so close to buying these on DVD. I'm glad I waited. No word on a LE so far I see.
The combo pack is going to be on the Anime Classics line, so it's likely there will only be a regular edition. Kinda like they did for Black Lagoon S1 & 2 combo pack(yeah, it's on the Anime Classics line although there's nothing on the packaging indicating it).

Yeah, I just don't know if the OVAs will give it a good ending.

Ordered 2 things from the Best Buy sale and both backordered. So both getting sent separately. As expected one of my Best Buy orders arrived damaged. It was shipped in a gray plastic wrap with no padding. So the blu-ray case was cracked. Trying to get a replacement might end up being pointless because it will just getting shipped in the same manner.

To save everyone the trouble, here is a place where you can buy replacement cases:

Casetopia: http://www.casetopia.com

Casetopia ebay: http://stores.ebay.com/casetopia/

I recommend going to their ebay page and purchasing the case. Because their main site sells some of them in bulk. So if you only need 1 or 2 cases replaced go to their ebay page. If you need a lot, go to their website.

Was it a 3-disc Blu-ray case? Because those break if you so much as breathe on them.

Might look into buying some replacement cases from them. They are even in Chattanooga, TN which is right next door to where I live.

BEGIN PERSONAL OPINION

I know how people feel about Guilty Crown on here, but I for one really enjoyed it. I bought the LE and I couldn't have been more satisfied. I felt like both art books and the box were really nice quality, and everything fits nice and snug within the LE box. I would personally recommend the LE, but it is kind of hard to say that, seeing as you would be double dipping. Guess it comes down to how much you want the LE box and two art books.

END PERSONAL OPINION

I ended up buying the UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie series from Bestbuy for $19.99, looked decent enough and if I don't like it I can always make my money back.

If you do like it though you'll have make sure to pick up S3 & 4 as well afterwards. The set you bought only contains S1 + 2, and was published by ADV at the time. Later Funi picked up the license and did S3 + 4, so it's a separate release from the set you purchased. S3 + 4 are way shorter though, and both combined are only about 8 episodes (6 for S3 and 2 for S4). Not sure if you knew what you bought isn't the full series, but just in case you didn't.

Going to have to stop by Costco this weekend :) Do not own any Ghibli Disney films atm. They announced they were going to bring Mononoke and The Cat Returns also a week or so ago.

What are some other good anime films out there? I currently own From Up on Poppy Hill, Grave of the Fireflies, Oblivion Island, Ninja Scroll, King of Thorns, as well as Wolf Children/Summer Wars.
