 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

A little over 2 years by the time it comes. Can't say I have my hopes up this time.

What's a good site to get the full inuyasha series (s1 to 7) on DVD or Bd. I've been watching a few auctions on ebay averaging $60. (looking to avoid the Malaysian bootlegs)

GoHastings actually had Seasons 3-7 for $6 New each a while back.

Though if you just want to watch the series once, every episode is up for free on Viz's website.

Coming soon in 2000 something....

Per RS FB page.

Over the weekend, FUNimation announced that Neon Genesis Evangelion: 3.33 You Can (Not) Redo will be released February 2nd! Are you as excited as we are to finally see the English version?

Place your order today!

So, slipbox (original pressing) for 1.11 release. Then slipcover for 2.22. Now slipbox again for 3.33, sure why not.

I personally am shoving it in my NGE series tin, so I don't really care. Though I have a hard time fitting the booklets in there...

A few third party sellers on Amazon are in a race to the bottom for Legend of Korra vols 2-4 on Blu-ray. Each is currently sitting at around $14 shipped, which is cheaper than they've ever been AFAIK. Who knows when the prices will bounce back up - looks like vol 1 already did.

Target has the new avatar last airbender dvd box set 15% off in store w/ cartwheel coupon.
Obligatory "avatar isnt anime" lol

Did the dvd version of Clannad: After Story go out of print? Amazon is selling it for $70 and it trades in for around $46. I'm tempted to trade in my copy.

The complete set isn't listed on Rightstuf,so am going to assume it's out of print. Might as trade it in,and get blu-ray when it goes on sale.

that's not ANIME. That's some American made poop

Well, Rokka is probably the only series Ponycan is going to be releasing in the foreseeable future that will appeal to me, as I can't tolerate cutesy moe anime, which is what the majority of their titles all seem to be. So I'll be ordering all three collectors sets for this series, since It will most likely be the only Ponycan series I get for my collection. The pricing for this is pretty much irrelevent, as I mostly only purchase Aniplex and Japanese imports on Blu-ray now anyway, so I'm used to paying Japanese prices - I buy very few domestic releases anymore, as I've gotten most of the older catalog releases I wanted to own, and the newer anime releases are now 90% that cutesy moe fanservice crap I don't care for. Plus, the US anime companies don't bother to put much effort into the video quality of their releases, cramming 9-12 episodes on a Blu-ray disc, with crap bitrates, and extremely poor video filter settings; Aniplex and JP releases are usually much better quality, all around.

I agree don't like moe fanservice crap give me classic hit shows like discotek and rightstuf does.

RWBY Season 3 releases October 24th on the Roosterteeth website:

And (old news), Season 1 is getting an international release with a Japanese dub cast...

*gasp*  But, that's not anime either!  I must be some sort of crazed idiot for putting RWBY on my anime shelf, along with Avatar and Korra. Oh, the pitiful shame of it all!    :wall:

Personally, I have a separate shelf for western-developed animation, and eastern-developed animation. Basically, I divide them by foreign language. But then, I'm a voice-acting snob who insists on listening to my media in its original language, no matter what. Dubbing is for chumps.

That said, I have no problem discussing Legend of Korra or RWBY here. I love both those shows. It will be interesting to see what happens to RWBY now that Monty has passed on. I'm glad that Rooster Teeth is continuing the series, but they will be hard-pressed to maintain the quality and creativity of the animated battle sequences. Monty Oum was simply one of the best.

I was only able to handle a few mins of RWBY. The voice acting was just god awful.I understand their amateurs, but even the RvB guys weren't that bad when they started out.

I gave RWBY pretty much no reasonable chance. I know it's low budget and all, but I couldn't get past the animation.

The voice acting??  I couldn't deal with the animation and tbh I'm surprised it is as well-received as it is.  Big disappointment with RWBY.

Apparently my Eva 3.33 pre-order from RightStuf is still active. O.O

And my Sailor Moon R Part 2 set has also shipped.

Finally, Nozomi announced the MSG Movie Trilogy, though it has both December and January listed as release dates.

DeepDiscount now has a 15% off sale with everything (code MUMMY), not just specific Halloween-based items.  This code only lasts for a few more hours though.

DD is still currently selling Legend of Korra volumes 2 through 4 at $12.83 each - except the coupon would make it far cheaper for those who are interested in it.

Funimation is now shipping the shirt that goes with the RoF bundle sale they had a while back....but not the movie RoF or my Db seasons 1-5 or dbz movies on blu ray

funimations amazing shipping at work here.

Digital manga? How does that work? Is it a download? Is there some drm attached to it?
Yea, it's a download. I think once you download it you can use any PDF reader to view it, but you can only download it via Viz's app/site. It doesn't transfer to stuff like Kindle or Nook.

They also have Naruto and Shonen Jump apps that offer free chapters, so try those out if you're curious.

Is weekly shonen jump (USA) still a thing digitally or did they finally give up and just dump chapters of One Piece and whatnot weekly? I don't know anyone who actually reads manga digitally besides ya know, the illegal stuff.

No, Shonen Jump is still a thing. Actually it's quite profitable, really. One Punch Man and Nisekoi got such a headstart in the US precisely because Viz put them in Shonen Jump. It's also the reason the print editions exist. Right now the lineup is One Piece, Bleach, Black Clover, One Punch Man, Nisekoi, Food Wars, My Hero Academia, Seraph of the End, Blue Exorcist, Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V, Toriko, and World Trigger, along with a "Throwback" chapter at the end. Separately, Viz is also releasing each chapter of Boys Over Flowers Season 2 for free.

Going mostly digital has been VERY profitable for Viz.
