 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Movies-TV-Anime/zgbs/movies-tv/2959100011/ref=zg_bs_nav_mov_2_2958934011 (DVD)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

All the Aniplex stuff in the Best of Sale seems to be normal price? Am I missing something?
They said on their twitter that this is not an extension of the holiday sale.

This year I ended up grabbing a lot from the Sentai Sales and a decent bit from RightStuf (things like Kill La Kill/ Nisekoi/ Gurren Lagann). Ended up with a good amount so far and I'm probably done for now with the sales, might get SNAFU 2 at that price and something else to hit free shipping but that would be it.
Yeah, I placed a big order at RS on the last day of the sale, so I think I'm pretty good for a while too.

Just checked my latest order, it's all PENDING but all the shit in there shows out of stock; I wrote them to see if I'm still getting my order...I had it placed on Friday. Sat there all weekend in the pending status. It's like everyone did a mad rush on Sunday night to get stuff, lol.
Unless it's out of print, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Remember when Amazon had a Funimation sale a years ago? That was a good sale. I wish it came back.
No, but I remember when Amazon had a Media Blasters sale, and also when they were blowing out all of the Bandai titles at prices no sane otaku could possibly resist blowing an entire paycheck.

Now that rightstuf Christmas sale is over I wanted to post a list of my haul from them this year
Right stuf Xmas haul:

Yeah pretty light this year
Wow! We "bought" the same thing!

I'd like to grab Sailor Moon R on DVD, but geez these things are too expensive. Why can't they go cheap like the Yu-Gi-Oh! DVD's have gone?
Walmart.com had the first three sets on sale (Season 1 parts 1 & 2, and Season 2 part 1) for $19.99 each back at the end of summer during the, un-advertised, Viz Media studio sale. Current prices are meh.:

https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=sailor%20moon&cat_id=4096

i know i havent posted in a while but i just wanted to say first and foremost....i hate this thread and its creator.

and secondly i spent probably too much on this yearly sale. somewhere between 400-500

thirdly....i vow this year to get through the backlog of dvds and blu rays!!! or at least make a dent in it.

Finally placed an order on the RS sale. Picked up:

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia (blu), Tokyo Majin (dvd), Ef a tale double pack (dvd), Bodacious Space Pirates (dvd), The Book of Bantorra (blu), Kino's Journey (dvd), Sankarea (blu), and Shiki (blu). Total about $170.

Had a big list and narrowed it down to those. Might cave and grab a couple more sometime.
i enjoyed dusk maiden way more than i should have. that anime was far better than it had any business ever being.

and thank you whoever informed me GiTS is getting a blu ray release...now if only they gave us a proper season 3 and sequel to solid state society. guess i'll preorder that now.

Barnes and Noble has Sailor Moon Crystal LE for 47.99, and if you make it over 50 you can use their 20% off code. Unfortunately I had already used it and it's single use only.

Did you try using it again? The BNDEC60 code that expired let me use it at least twice, despite saying once per account/address.

I don't know what I was expecting from that Ninja Triple Feature, but it's full on softcore porn. I was thinking maybe some comedic ecchi or something.

If I knew I'd be buying porn, I would have just gone all out and bought some hentai manga from my favorite artists. (Although there's not much point since I couldn't ever see myself "using" them..) I don't feel very good about that being the first porn I've ever paid for.

Well the old site was functional but ancient and ancient-looking, so I understand why they did the upgrade, which was going to be painful no matter what.

It's saying items in cart aren't eligible, even if put in stuff I already used the coupon on. Which is kinda dumb considering they let you use the coupon on your whole cart anyway.

This year's sale was bloody rough on my wallet.

$410 from Sentai
$51 from Funimation
$145 from Barnes and Noble
$320 from Rightstuf.

And my backlog was already enormous. I've taken a hiatus from gaming just to try to make a dent in the anime shelf. Haha

the nihombie one?

if so I got that as my blind box item.

didn't realize anyone bought it >.>

Barnes and noble has some decent prices for anime w/ a coupon right now. Sword of the stranger 20.99 before coupon... Tempting

Are the extras in the Amz exclusive Cowboy Bebop set worth buying a second one for $47?  It's just the two artbooks that are unique, as all of the on-disc extras are in the regular edition, correct?

This review sums up the differences pretty well: https://www.amazon.com/review/RHSPYO0KUZMA8/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00MMOZ1SS&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=2625373011&store=movies-tv

I think only the Funimation Exclusive had some additional extras on the discs otherwise everything is the same.

I apologize, this'll be the last time I ask in the thread, but if anyone has a crunchyroll guest pass they wouldn't mind Pming me, I'd appreciate it. I didn't get any messages from my last post so I figured I'd ask one last time. Thanks.

A user on the site was nice enough to send me a code so I'm all set, thanks.

I almost always have one available as I never use them.

After a week of getting their spam, I unsubscribed. I left them a comment stating that they sent emails too frequently and it made no sense since only the (mediocre) mega deals changed daily. Can't say I like the new direction they've been going in, what with GA?'s price increase, the still clunky website overhaul, and lack of competitive sales. Their customer service and packaging are still awesome, however.

Debatable. The shipped my Sentai order and it was too small a box.

Someone push me one way or the other. Do I give into Gurren Lagann on bluray or buy a bunch of stuff off Sentai instead?

I like Gurren Lagann a lot, but $180 for one series is hard to go through with.

Don't spend $180 on the Gurren Lagaan singles.  They are paper boxes and not worth it imo.  Wait until they release another nice set.  Buy from the Sentai sale instead!

Hop on the UK Blu-ray train and just get the series that way. It's gorgeous on Blu-ray, BTW.

Import the UK release, get a Region Free player and you'll spend less than $180 and have a lot more options to import other series that are much cheaper in Region B compared to the US releases.

Any suggestions on a good all region blu-ray player? I've been looking for one.
the most cost effective ones are the old best buy insignia ones. though you have to update them to specific firmwares only as future updates remove the code that unlocks region free abilities.

but if you want a legit no codes, smart region free blu ray player....let someone else answer that as i have no idea.

I picked up the $150 Sony BDP-S1500 on Amazon from 220-electronics. Nothing special but gets the job done. There are tons of options on the 220 electronics website, but this was probably the cheapest.

I just picked up this model off of ebay from 220 electronics for $60. It's refurbished but comes with a 1 year warranty. Definitely worth the gamble if you're looking for a cheap alternative.

i've eyed the sale a couple times, but this made it too good to pass up. i probably didn't pick amazing anime, but my haul:

all 4 log horizon collections

queens blade rebellion

queens blade beautiful warriors

divergence eve

no game no life

battle girls time paradox

There are a couple flips to Amazon if you guys need fillers or whatever.

Beyond the Boundary

Knights of Sidonia

Amagami SS

From the New World

Qwaser of Stigmata

As some examples.

Well, Sentai has cleaned me out this year. I went ahead and got $200 worth of anime despite having spent about that much on their last sale. Difference is that I got to subtract $50 from it. Went ahead and calculated the discounted price for each item. I noticed that when I allocated the discount around, Parasyte was still relatively the most expensive of them all. For any math nerds here you go...

Waiting in the Summer: $16.39

Say "I Love Joo": $19.12

Parasyte: $50.06

Log Horizon: $69.43

Note that first two are 13 episodes, Parasyte is 24 and Log is 50 episodes. So yeah, Parasyte is still expensive (relatively), but I don't see it being much cheaper in the future.

Edit: Oh, I would've snagged Mayou or whatever it's called, but the blu-ray was already sold out?! That was fast.
