 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

I'm still new to omnibus style of manga. I was wondering if it's best to go for single volumes or omnibus. I know it's a matter of preference but I am curious of their perk(s).
Omnibus are cheaper overall. Two volumes usually have an MSRP around $28, and the omnibus $20.

I haven't been paying much attention here; has there been any discussion of Rightstuf's 30th anniversary sale? It looks pretty decent.

Every year about this time I go to a convention, and I always buy a few anime during that time. But this being a month-long sale like in December I can wait.
It's not bad for preorders, but Amazon has similar, if not better, pricing on a lot of what RS has discounted.

The omnibus volumes are cheaper, but I personally like digests for the portability (And with dragonball, the spines line up to make an image).

For me, I would get an omnibus if the series was short. The only one I have is a Satoshi Kon collection.

You're in for a treat. Beware that the beginning may not rope you in right away (first 2 episodes can be confusing), but stick with it.
Thanks for the heads up! I'll make sure to stick with it.

Also picked up Samurai Champloo (almost everyone has recommended that one to me) and Soul Eater. Trying to get more into anime :D

Samurai Champloo is also very good. I wasn't a fan of Soul Eater, but hopefully you'll enjoy it.

I picked up the Sword Art Online Limited Edition Blu-ray box 1 for $25 at the local disk replay. Was that a good price?
Considering that it is OOP I guess. Good luck on getting the other ones if you are going that route. Glad Aniplex did a Complete Collection Boxset for the 1st Season.

sorta?

I mean I think it's only the first 7 episodes of a 26 episode series.

but for what it is it's a good price.

personally I imported SAO from EU.

So GKids has distraction rights to the entire studio Ghibli library minus grave of the fire flies and the wind rises, anyone gonna repurchase any of these titles?

What the heck is the difference between these two Soul Eater Complete series? Funi has a limited edition but doesn't really say what it has in it unless its just the minor things like textless songs.

https://www.funimation.com/shop/home-video/soul-eater-the-complete-series-65/

and this standard complete series

Ten dollars... and take note that is a Blu-Ray Only set. If you want/need it on DVD this isn't for you, otherwise it's a great price on the Funi website.

Besides the price difference is there anything else that makes the funi one "limited edition"? I couldn't find any info on it anywhere. So I thought asking here.

Those are both the standard blu ray set.  The reason that the art looks different is because Funi is using the promotional art rather than the actual cover art.  If you look at the video still on RS, you'll see that it is also using the promo art since that is Funi's video.

The only limited edition I'm aware of in the US is the Yearbook edition, and that is definitely not what is being sold in that link.

So it's my birthday. Rate my haul

Aria the natural Parts 1 & 2

The Irresponsible captain tylor OVA collection

Inuyasha the final act

Record of the Lodoss war set that released today

And I preordered Jojo Bizarre adventure which releases on the 25th

Thanks for your answer man. I really appreciate it.

What was your all-in cost for it? Both seasons?
Around $40 for the first season I am still waiting on the second season.

madman was missing a disk from their sale otherwise I would have bought it from Aus for about $50.

mostly I will just wait for the second season to be collected like the first season has that was posted.

Ordered Full Metal Panic & Full Metal Panic fumoffu from Right stuf with a free $5 bargain blind box promo code then Full Metal Panic Second Raid & Steins Gate from Funimation. I Haven't ordered so many things at once in a long time...

I never completely watched Steins Gate so It'll be interesting watch that an I can rewatch FMP to remember what happened before season 3 starts.

the main character took an everyday situation and escalated it by taking a military approach.

and then naked twins showed up and then he saved the day...

yeah I need to rewatch it before season 3 as well lol.

I can't wait for season 3. I remember liking the theme song for Season 2 a lot. Felt last, but now season 3 is happening, so yeah. I can't wait.

My memory of FMP is still pretty strong in my mind, so I don't think I need to re-watch before the mythical season 3 (if it happens). Last I heard there were signs it wasn't going to happen in the time frame originally expected. Hopefully it means we still get it. I love FMP.

it got delayed a bit but there has been a trailer for it already it will be next year.

Lodoss oav bluray/ TV dvd set showed up today and I posted pics here. Just easier on the forums this way I figured.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BWszzonFSsi/

All the discs are just a single color label of black for bluray ova and gold for ova dvd. The tv series dvd labels are gold colored.

Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0722CP3ZW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
boo @ paper Lodoss box. booooooo!

going to wait for a clearance price on that one which I had high hopes for.
I'm waiting on this one too. I love the Lodoss OVA, but I already have both series on DVD, so I'll wait till this is either cheap or they put out the OVA on BD by itself so I'm not re-buying the meh TV series again.

Really tempted to bite on the Yu Yu Hakusho seasons during the Funi sale. Has anybody seen them cheaper than $15 a season?

Hmmm....

https://www.rightstufanime.com/World-War-Blue-DVD

Last Saturday I made a special trip to a part of the county I rarely get to anymore to shop at a used media store I use to frequent weekly when I had my old job.

Picked up every volume of the first season (episodes 1 - 27) of Rurouni Kenshin, all four volumes of DearS, and the first four volumes of Brigadoon for $3 per volume. Also got the Please Twins Complete Series Set for $10. Woud have bought every volume of Rurouni Kenshin: Season 2, but upon inspection one of the harded to find volumes had a very nasty center-ring crack.

I kept almost buying My Hero Academia, but I'm glad I waited, it's only $14 on PSN.
Just curious, but where are you seeing $14? I've looked at the PSN Store on both my laptop and PS4 and I'm seeing it at $18.

I also noticed that they're selling the Japanese and English audio versions as separate items, with the Japanese audio being a dollar cheaper and $17. Pretty sleazy move IMO.

It's always the rare one that's damaged; never the one that you can buy for $1.50

Welp, the B&N and deepdiscount/dvdplanet listings for HxH set 3 have been updated to a $50 MSRP, which matches amazon. If you have any interest, better get your order in now, while rightstuf still has it at $26.98.

I wouldn't get your hopes too high about HxH.  If the MSRP is changing, RS probably isn't going to ship them out for $27 either.  They'd probably send out an email saying that the information from the manufacturer has changed and then cancel the existing orders.

I believe it should be this https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/tv/series/my-hero-academia-uncut/cid=UV0003-NPVB32099_CN-0000000000345212?emcid=pa-st-111690 it's in English, though, for those of you who don't watch dubbed anime

I own all of the Disney releases already. I am considering double dipping on the releases that have dubtitles with Disney.
