 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

That's fine, but it's like the biggest source of anime news in English since like the early 2000s. In this thread, it's the equivalent of telling everyone you've never heard of the Wall Street Journal. Frankly, it speaks more about you.
Like I said, it may be huge to the people on this forum but I've asked a few of my friends who also watch anime and they have never heard of it either.

There is no way to know what % of people who watch anime knows what ANN is so this argument is stupid. It seems pretty important to a few of you so if it makes you guys feel better I'll admit it's like the CNN of anime.

Speaking of FMA you guys should continue that riveting conversation about Vic.

So I'm in need of some help/info.
I am no longer going to be purchasing from RS after my recent trouble with them and lost mail. The problem I have run into is the so called (Righstuf exclusives) basically the aniplex titles. I know these are not actually rightstuf exclusives but actually authorized us retailer exclusives. Does anyone know the list of seller who are authorized to sell aniplex titles.

I'm aware both Crunchyroll and Tokyo otaku mode sell the titles but in very small quantities.
I'm looking to buy
https://www.rightstufanime.com/Fate-Aporcrypha-Box-Set-2-Blu-ray
While Crunchyroll sold part one I'm not seeing part 2 on their site.
I also want to buy this
https://www.rightstufanime.com/Fate-Grand-Order-First-Order-Blu-ray

Honestly fate is like the last thing I'm willing to buy from aniplex of America even though I have a few half sets I need to finish.

They used to have an authorized retailer list on their aniplexusa website but I can't find it there any longer. It used to be like only four places with two of them being webstores I had never even heard of. I believe the other two were RS and TOM.

I was going to tell you to try Tokyo Otaku Mode bc I know some people bought Apocrypha sets there but you mentioned that wasn't in the cards, and they are OOS anyways.

The AoA retailers page is simply blank now: http://aniplexusa.com/retailers/

It looks like you can buy it at RACS (until he jacks up the price up tomorrow when he reads this), but I have never shopped there. (let's not start that whole conversation again pls) https://www.animecornerstore.com/fateapocrypha.html

You could also go for region B BDs for those (presuming they're available). I've seen plenty of people go that route (along with a region free/region B BD player) over paying aniplex prices

This is what I do and was about to suggest. I buy from Amazon UK and occasionally from the Australian retailer (Madman?). The multi-region player easily paid for itself and it functions as a regular BD/DVD player too. Amazon UK is vastly cheaper than what AoA sells anime for in the US. The prices here are insane.

Any suggestions of models and places to get a multi-region player?

I got a cheap brand from 220 Electronics from LG. It died twice (to their immense surprise, or so they say). I then had them replace it for a Sony model and it worked fine ever since. Can find them on Amazon or can buy from them directly.

Other regions might be an option for other releases but I have already bout vol 1 of fate AP, so I'll end up having to buy vol 2 as well from AoA to match. Thanks for the advice when I got some extra money I'll decide if I'm willing to discuss it with RaC

from slick deals

Note, item must be sold/shipped by Amazon

Also available at Best Buy [bestbuy.com] for $5.99 w/ free in-store pickup.

Best Buy has Inuyasha: The Movie: Complete 4-Film Wooden Boxed Set w/ Soundtracks (Deluxe DVD Limited Edition) on sale for $8.99. Shipping is free for My Best Buy Members (free to join). Otherwise, select in-store pick up where available. Thanks Discombobulated

Amazon.com has Inuyasha: The Movie: Complete 4-Film Wooden Boxed Set w/ Soundtracks (Deluxe DVD Limited Edition) on sale for $8.99. Shipping is free w/ Amazon Prime or on $25 or more.

I will say the box to the inuyasha movie set is nice.

Look up how to jailbreak your ps3. almost all models can be jailbroken and if you do that you can freely change the region.

hopefully madman doesn't get to screwed up from aniplex buying it :/

I got a Slim PlayStation 3 locally for about $60 and I was able to put custom firmware on it, now it can play any region DVD and Blu-ray. Firmware can be no higher than 4.82, might need to check which models can have CFW installed.

I'm also interested in the upcoming Neon Genesis Evangelion: TV Animation Production Art Collection, but waiting for a better price. Cheapest I see it now is from RS for $30 + $5 shipping. Released in Japan in 2015. Hopefully this release includes English translation rather than dropping the text altogether.
I'd be willing to drop the $35 for the EVA book if they included an English translation. Leaving out the text is one of the laziest things a publisher could do.

The sample pages Udon posted have translations of all the designer notes, and one of the translators who worked on the project also confirmed that everything is completely translated on Twitter.

Oof, all this did was alert me that I can't wait for Made in Abyss/Land of Lustrous/K-On to hit the 70% off mark cuz they're all low stock. RIP my $ ;_;
Nice. Those are the exact same two items I've been watching.

Made in Abyss LE hit 'low stock' shortly after it released though so I don't know if I believe that one. I think they are using it as a tool to try to move units. A bunch of those other LEs were also 'low sotck' during the entire Christmas sale and then basically none of them sold out.

Yeah, I 100% feel it. But these hit low stock without a prior sale, which got the ol' "fear of missing out" running full throttle. I didn't even think they were going to retire things until Monster Musume's LE dropped off the board, and that still stings. I can just see them trying to replicate that effect with a couple high-profile quick sell-outs.

They got me this time, but if these last until a sale, it'll be the last time they do. Guess we're both gambling; let's see what cards Sentai plays in the end.

Evangelion Illustrations 2007-2017 pre-order for $22.34 (retail $35): https://www.amazon.com/Evangelion-Illustrations-2007-2017-Neon-Genesis/dp/1974707032/

At Target for same price, and $26.24 at RS. Came out last year in Japan. Video review:

This probably won't help your wallet, but found a review of the K-On Premium set: https://myfigurecollection.net/blog/42201

Jesus man no need to get so defensive. I'm in a thread about deals dude not about Vic Mignogna or Anime news network. I'm sorry I've never heard about your website.. lol

The only one being defensive here is you. You're in the minority for never having heard of it. That's not our fault.

There are plenty of people around here who do not fall into what I'd say are hardcore anime fans. I enjoy looking for deals and learning about new anime by just purchasing it cause it looks cool.

And yet, you decided to rag on people who state knowledge about the site as being irrelevant rather than focus on the deals, tossing your judgemental opinion about--again-- a site you don't know anything about.

Cool.

Not everyone who participates in a hobby is so deep in it. You are just being silly. This argument is totally pointless, if you want to pretend everyone knows the ins and outs of everything anime just because they have a passing interest in it go for it.

So... you're just here for the deals again, right? Maybe you should just stick to that for opinions about anime, rather than throwing your two unearned cents in to an issue by your own admission you don't know anything about.

Looks like FYE's website is doing 31.4% off when you spend 50$ for Pi day. Doesn't work on sale prices. May be something hiding in there worth picking up.

Sentai has a sale going on. Patlabor Ultimate collection is available for $56.99, but currently on backorder.

https://shop.sentaifilmworks.com/collections/lucky-lucky-sale-2019/products/patlabor-the-mobile-police-ultimate-collection

Almost tempted to buy it, but I have everything on DVD, not sure if worth upgrading to Blu-ray.

Full sale link: https://shop.sentaifilmworks.com/collections/lucky-lucky-sale-2019
Woot. Something to pair with Land of the Lustrous!

Dealing with RS support for a set that showed up with a loose scratched up disk and their support is just awful. 2 weeks in and they're still asking me crap like if I tried playing the stupid disc. >.>

Received my Perfect Blue Blu from Best buy ($19.99 compared to Amazon's $27) 4 days early and couldn't be happier.  This of course led me to looking up the other Kon stuff out there and was really surprised that Rightstuf on Amazon has Paranoia Agent Vols 2 & 3 for only $10 + SH new.

Thanks for posting, ordered paranoia agent volumes as well. Now just need to get vol 1 and 4.

The upcoming Evangelion art book has dropped another $5 to $25.46: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1772940429/

Got the FLCL art book in the other day. Only glanced it so far, but seems nice. Some color pics up front, then character designs, location designs, artist notes, early sketches, and what looked like an interview at the end. All notes are translated.
