Anon has declared war - on $cientology!!!

Wow, that second video with the scientology crazy followers is absolutely insane. I can't believe I haven't seen that one until now. Thanks Ugamer_X. They are even more insane than I thought.
That kid scientologist handled himself well it looked like.
Not really, just as well as all the kooks seem to do.
4chan, and the various chans in general, are the backwaters of the internet where several different groups of people congregate. Hackers, script-kids, etc. That's the basic gist of it.
there probably aren't many hackers and script kids on there. It ranges from people who just wanna act insane and who have odd senses of humor to otakus, pedos, and furries.

Am i in the minority here thinking that this is a bit...Insane?

Dont get me wrong, I dont encourage the teachings of scientology or its...own brand of insanity, but engaging an Attack like this is a bit extreme.

Is there something that brought this on? what did the church do to piss these guys off, it just seems like a random attack out of left field

All ive heard is that they've pulled some propagand video off youtube, and i see that as a good thing, the less i see of tom cruise the better.

Sure its crazy, but if this church BS makes them happy, let em have it and let them waste their money, but all the hate seems a bit irrational
So did anybody get those documents from Piratebay?
I did, I looked over it a little, there is alot of shit in there though. If you are good you could probably pull some wacked info out of there.

EDIT: Also has anyone heard the rumor that Suri Cruise isn't really Tom's daughter but instead that Katie was impregnated with L. Ron Hubbard's frozen sperm? That would be insane if it is was true.
Sure its crazy, but if this church BS makes them happy, let em have it and let them waste their money, but all the hate seems a bit irrational
Google "Lisa McPherson"

I would classify a cult as dangerous if it imprisons and denies medical care to someone who is obviously in need of it.

The attack is a demonstration of power. Anon wants to show the world that the internet culture does have some influence, so it decided to target a powerful group and attack it.
The Church of Scientology was an ideal candidate, because it's something that the general public either dislikes, or is indifferent to. If you were to ask a random person on the street how they feel about Scientology, the odds of them saying "I am not a member, but I like what they do" is slim to none.

That's stupid. "Anon" didn't have to show the world that internet culture has some influence. Youtube, Craigslist, Myspace, and Ebay have done and are still doing a better job whilist not even trying.

I want Moot to ban anyone who starts a thread peddling this bullshit fight against Scientology. You are not legion, you're just a script kidddie. Now get off of the internet so we can have more room for win like this. That is anon, not some self righteous moral crusader who thinks he can save the world....because those are ever so in scarcity on the internet.

Yeah, _chan has NO influence on internet culture. When was the last time _chan started a meme?

Well, that's why I left the etc. at the end. I didn't go into detail about every group on the chans.
So did anybody get those documents from Piratebay?
Which ones? I think they've come out and leaked several docs since the inital leakage. i got the first, but have yet to get the second. Also, they have videos of events, cd courses or something like that, etc. A ton of scientology stuff has been leaked onto TPB and through rapidshare like sites.

pointless post.

Looking at the videos, I'm convinced the only reason this got any media attention is that TV anchors want to be in a sci-fi movie:
"Hackers are attacking the church of scientology!"
*Cue video of generic, creepy computer speak about mobilization*

Oh, and I hate 4chan's racism and sex-talk too, but they're still not as bad as the church of scientology, which has actually hurt people
Yeah, _chan has NO influence on internet culture. When was the last time _chan started a meme?
Sarcasm? I could have sworn RickRoll was started by 4chan.

EDIT: is there a reason everyone is saying _chan?

isn't there serveral chan's out there like 4chan, 7chan, those are the only 2 I have heard of

There are TONS of chan sites and yes, I was being sarcastic.

4chan isn't a bad site... if you know what you're doing
What the hell is a chan site, and who the hell is Anon? If they are as powerful as they think they are, how come I haven't heard of them?
Because they are anonymous, duh.

They are exactly who you think they are (No, they aren't the bears ;)).
Yeah, _chan has NO influence on internet culture. When was the last time _chan started a meme?
Notice how I never said or even implied that in my post.

I think now is the time where I will present my reasoning on why this entire thing is useless.

Anon moreso wants to flex his internet muscle rather than to help. It's even posted in this thread. Anon wants to " show the world " the possibilities and his strength. Scientology was an easy and obvious target. It's not like they had to do any work to gather information as it had already been all over the internet from sites such as Operation Clambake. This is all information that is so easily passed around today, but the Church is so secretive, you'd just have to wonder how hard it was to find out about Xenu. Also, Scientology has been ridiculed publicly in the past numerous times. I'm pretty sure that the general public knows of the evils of Scientology by now.

So who is Anon helping, exactly? Lets define help : DDoSing Scientology's website. Hmm....not only does that not show any Scientologists that they are part of a corrupt religion, it at the same time shows them that the SPs want to hurt them. Anon said he didn't care about that in his stupid little " We are legion ( I'm begging to just be a part of something ) " video. Even the video of the people on the street was just disgusting. They were being purpously abrassive. Either they don't know how to help or they simply weren't trying. If you told a man who was married to a woman who was nothing but good to him for 20 years that she had been cheating on him the entire time, he wouldn't belive you. He'd be in terrible denial for a while. Of course, he would come out of it after being presented enough evidence. But this is a religion, people. He said he had been a Scientologist all of his damned life. " How do we help him, then?" If you don't know what you're doing, leave them alone. You're just building up their wall of false justification. But of course, Anon doesn't care. He just wants to shoot fish in a barrel so he can show off his ePenis.

Also, I belive that if you accept religion in general, you have to tolerate the beliefs of all religions. Faith is many things ( that I don't feel like listing here), but you need to understand what faith can do to a person before going against a religion. It is said in the bible that if a person were to try to talk you out of faith that you should kill them just as it says in Scientology's manual, handbook, or whatever that all SPs are fair game.

Of course, this will all be ingored for the traditional " useless post " or sarcastic remark that cannot directly answer any of my arguments nor have much relevance.

You're giving other sites credit. Then again, LOLcats was totally original, right?
Notice how I never said or even implied that in my post.
I didn't know 4chan actually did anything, I thought it was just forum where pedophiles and other sexual deviants congregated?
You're giving other sites credit. Then again, LOLcats was totally original, right?
He was referring to internet culture having an impact. STUPIDLY, I thought he was referring to things that actually mattered and not just memes, so I listed websites that actually had an impact outside of the internet.

Oh dumb me.
_Chan and the internet as whole has way more influence then anyone will admit.
First off, where were you during the dot com boom?

Secondly, recently, websites that have actually had influence have gotten media coverage ( see, the one's I've listen earlier ) . _chan isn't up there because it hasn't made an influence at all.

First of all...
Anon moreso wants to flex his internet muscle rather than to help. It's even posted in this thread. Anon wants to " show the world " the possibilities and his strength. I love that you quote me, call me stupid, and then restate what I post

Also, _chan has an unknown number of crazy supporters who will do whatever the site tells them to. Comparing its influence to eBay or Facebook is like comparing crazy fanatics to a legitimate business. This just happens to be their first big action.

I will admit that Scientologists could start thinking of themselves as martyrs if this gets out of hand. However, I'm torn between that and my hatred of successful scams that ruin people's lives.

If Anon helps at least one scientologist question his beliefs or convinces one scientologist to leave and find a less destructive path, I think its pretty worth it. Thats less money in the pocket of those creeps and one more person in the world with enough money to retire.
- and after watching that other sick video, it could even save someone's life if they get out soon enough.
All I have to say is I have nothing to do with this.
Yeah i'll take your word for it

However I dont trust Astley hanging around in your sig, he looks like he's up to something...always staring at something slightly to the left.

Oh wow.

That was a local news report. One local news report.

I love how completely clueless the "norms" are. They think it's some kind of super secret "hax0r gang." It's a bunch of people from an internet forum with to much time on their hands.

Hell, it could be us.

I remember watching a clip of a BBC reporter going wacko on a scientologist earlier last year. But I never realized the series of events that led up to it. This is a pretty good watch.
That guy handled himself extremely well for the first few run-ins. That last one was just icing. You could visibly see the fear and astonishment slowly creep into Tommy's game-face.
quit wasting your time and arguing with him in this thread. Just put him on your ignore list and be happy.
That was arguing? I was writing an essay and he was giving me weak topic sentences.

Also, you do realize that same mentality is what keeps Scientology strong ( and all faith, really ), right? I just find it hilarious that you'd say that in a thread about an attack against Scientology ( an attack which you support ) , as that's exactly the way the guy in the video was acting. Couldn't put up a good argument at all so he let everything they say go in one ear and come right out of the other.

Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

And just to make things clear, I am not a stranger to the evils of Scientology. I know most of the information, I've seen " The Bridge" ( great movie if anyone were to find it), I've seen various videos about Scientology and how bogus Miscavige is. I can understand why someone would want to take down Scientology, it's just _chan's methods are quite ineffective and I personally think that if you want to take down one, you must take down them all.

But I suppose I am on "ignore" for most people in this thread, so most of this doesn't even matter.
Because this is totally the first time __chan has invaded something.
It was ebaumsworld that did it, and its fucking hilarious to sit and watch. They have gotten quite a bit of news coverage, and the pics/videos or IRL raids are amusing.

and this is a little more "srs bzns" than closing the damn pool in Habbo hotel.

Heh, amusing. A raid, i think in toronto, on scientology. Like I said, I've seen a couple happen out here. These are getting amusing - plus my friend said that he saw some spray painted signs in Cali saying "STOP scientology".
This is a very interesting speech given by a former long-time Scientologist. It's long but worth the watch, especially if you don't want to read about all things Scientology.

I've only seen the first one so far, but I like how candid she is. It really lends itself to what she's trying to convey. Some of th videos on youtube and other sites, while true and factual, are a bit extreme at times. This is more subtle and slices deeper.

Anyway, all this scientology stuff has been pretty interesting. I've never seen a single topic take over digg like it has the past week or so and how reddit has come along as well. They usually aren't so tandem to one another.

I followed the raid on White Supremacist radio host, Hal Thompson, and this raid makes that raid look like child's play.

Best raid of them all and how all their rids should be. Very well planned and executed. Everything very well thought out ahead of time and it very hilarious
