Another pokemon...anyone else disgusted?

Scrubking

CAGiversary!
It isn't even a new version (no version of pokemon is really new), but rather a remake (rehash) of the red and blue versions.

isn't there enough evil in the world;-)

I admit,I bought crystal the day came out, but only because I wanted to see what the fuss was about....

And I even have used copy of red I've yet to hate myself enough to actually play...

But why would anyone consider pokemon a viable option with Demi kids a few days from release in the U.S.?

The persona series owns pokemon so bad it isn't even funny. Demi Kids is the latest spinoff in the same series of games.

Unlike pokemon, the two different versions of Demi Kids are actually 2 entirely different games{kind of like what Oracle/ages did with Zelda , only adding the option to be good or evil}, with two different storylines/characters/monster combining systems...... all which take place in the same general timeline/environment.

not to mention the ability to negotiate by talking with your enemies is always a nice touch over fighting mindlessly. You actually have to be able to carry on a decent conversation to recruit monsters.

Which could explain why there's not much hype with their release compared to pokemon.

Thinking isn't exactly considered a strong point in a mindless pokemon fanatic ;-)

I'm not a Pokemon fan, but if it keeps my favorite Videogame company afloat, I'm not going to badmouth it.

It's a remkae that can link to ruby and sapphire, it is bundled with the Wireless Network adapter that will allow multiplayer games on the gba, Kinda like the ultimate steak to the heart for n-gauge... (Not like it was gonna do good anyways)

I truthfully love pokémon, it's a great game if you can get into it, it has to be one of the best frachises that the video game industry has ever seen.

It isn't even a new version (no version of pokemon is really new), but rather a remake (rehash) of the red and blue versions

Yeah your Wrong, VERY wrong, there are 3 different pokémon games:

Red/Blue/Green/Yellow - Your Classic One

Gold/Silver/Crystal - The second one, Added more pokemon to the orginal, takes place in the land of the orginal one, along with another plot of land

Ruby/Sapphire - The Most recent one - Takes place in a whole new land, about 75% of the pokemon are new, and only a few of the old ones: for example: Pikchu, Pikachu, Raichu... Geodude, etc. Mostly the popular ones minus Jigglypuff.

And now you have the new red and green ones.

So as you can see those are all the Pokemon games, minus The two stadium ones, snap, hey you pikachu, pokemon TGC, Puzzle league, both pinballs, the pokemon Box (GCN) and Pokemon colleseum.

And no i'm not 10 years old, I'm actualy 18 (because you probally think i'm like 10 for knowing all this)

Dude, all the pokemon games are basically the same game cept for cosmetic changes like different pokemon, better graphics, etc.

So basically there are 9 versions of the same game or rather 8 crappy rehash games to rob children of their parents money. Actually make that 10 rehashes when you include the new ones coming out.

Nintendo has no shame!

let them survive on somebody else's dollar

They should have to earn their money with the quality of their most current releases just like everyone else in the industry, instead of having loyalty handed to them.

I don't play Pokemon either, but if that's what people want, I guess Nintendo has to do whatever it takes to make these gamers happy.
I've never played Pokemon (and don't plan to), so can someone explain to me what the color thing is about? Are Ruby and Sapphire the same game?
Yes, they are basically the same game with only a very extremely minor difference. What nintendo does is put a few pokemon in that are version specific. So while the ruby version might come with pokemon A,F and G, Saphire comes with pokemon B, C and H.

What ninty wants to do is trick the kids into buying both versions in order to collect all the pokemon cause you can't with just one version unless you cheat or find someone to trade with, and even if you do have someone to trade with ninty counts on the fact that pokemon fans will by both versions anyway for their collection. So that is twice the money for what is basically the same game.

Wow, you've never played Pokemon?

Anyways, the 2 versions are pretty much the same game. In Red/Blue, the only difference was that there were about 10 Pokemon that were exclusive to each version. In Gold/Silver, it was pretty much the same along with a suped up legendary that exclusive to each color. Ruby/Saphire goes another step futrther by having a different antagonist in each (People trying to get rid of the oceans in Ruby, increase the ocean size in Saphire) along with another super legendary. Green is pretty much the exact same as Red/Blue. Yellow once again is simmlar to Red/Blue, except you have Pikachu follow you along with being able to get all 3 starting Pokemon (Instead of 1). Crystal adds a few more tweaks to Gold/Silver.

The new ones are supposed to be remakes of Red/Blue/Green.

I played Pokemon (original RED version), and I agree with Scrub and SS4's comments above, the later versions are just a rehash of the Original ones. Nintendo is Milking the franchise dry..in fact blood is coming out of it now
im discusted
no, you're disgusted. sory, jk, couldn't resist. i racked more hours on blue when it first came out than probably all the games i'd ever played before. Well maybe i'm lying on that one, but close. then i had to stop when i played for over a day straight without eating and started having these weird pokemon dreams, which i won't get into, for reputation's sake.

The appeal of pokemon to me back when I used to play it was battling your friends... all those hours spent mindlessly going through the last cave to get your monsters upwards in the level 100 range just for the extra couple hp/attack points was actually worth it in my eyes because battling your friends was VERY fun. Unfortunately, this boom stopped after red/blue/yellow, and although I still bought silver, it just wasn't the saem because no one else played it.

IMO that really seems like the ultimate goal, since let's be honest; beating generic "opponents" in the game is stupid and unrewarding.

If people started playing this again, I'm not afraid to admit that I would definitely come back, as it is one of the best strategic RPG's out there, and is only shunned because of it's young audience.

And if anyone is wondering I'm 15 and turn 16 in under a month...

I have to say I bought crystal. It's the only pokemon game I've played{besides yellow one time}and they seem the same to me just diff story. But it's cool cuz i got Phantasy star col.{gba}, Dragon warrior 1+2{GBC},and crystal{GBC} for 41$ at eb with buy 2 used get 1 free.

I bought Pokemon Blue before the supercraze and I'd have to admit it was a very engaging and fun RPG. I don't know about the later versions, but if they are indeed just rehashes, it looks like Pokemon is going the way of the Mega Man franchise.

I agree with everyone else in the fact that it helps sell systems. I never played any of them or watch the show, but show did help make my anime cheaper, so maybe we will see a price cut on the SP sometime soon. Hellz yeah you gotta catch all those lil' bastards.

I had red, my brother had blue, and together we got every single pokemon. It was fun, I would stay up all night playing it, and then battle all my friends. I might get this newest one just to try and relive the fun I had back then.

As soon as they started to announce it, a year or so before it came out, I knew it was someting I wanted to play. I was I believe in my sophomore year when it came out. I bought red (just cause it was my favorite color) and my friend bought blue (cause of his favorite color). Anyways we had a blast, especially since everyone seemed to have bought a gb and a version of pokemon, so we would be battling during lunch. We were 14 and heck everyone was actually into it.
The best part is how gamers actually came in contact, malls used to hold special days to trade and battle with each other, I remember meeting people in college and trading with them. I don't think I have been in contact with so many gamers, so I did enjoy it greatly. I have no purchased another version since then, but my wife (g/f at the time) has, she has had all of them except for Crystal and Sapphire.
Personally I am actually looking forward to the remake, just for memories. I could get red and she could get blue (I doubt they will bring green, they'll just make it blue). After all the couple that plays together :)

No you guys don't understand it at all.

Let me explan it to you.

There are several different versions.

First there is the original which had 12 characters but only 8 were playable

Then there was championship edition which had a few changes to the gameplay and let you play as the bosses.

Then there were the other versions which added more moves and speed. Turbo/Hyper etc.

Then there was the Super crystal version which added 4 more characters, cammy, t hawk, deejay, fei long,

Then there was the turbo version of that one,

Then they finally released the 3rd one, which got redone 3 times,

Then they have alpha/zero which takes place before all the others, yet characters have flashier moves and now the story starts to get messed up?

So now that you have learned all this, mark it down in your pokedex so you don't forget. Gotta Catch them ALL PokemAn!

Eternal...that was just great :) Point well taken.
There are fans of all type of genres, SF Fans sure didn't mind all the remakes, so Pokemon fans won't either.

There is some major foolishness in this thread. First of all, No one is forcing you to buy these versions. They are for the fans. It doesn't "cost" you anything. Secondly, just because you don't want them, doesn't mean others don't either. They couldn't milk it without a market. Third, Nintendo is in business to **surprise** make money. Pokeman does that. Also the $$ helps fund new stuff.

There are only a few legit complaints about R/G and they haven't been mentioned. As a fan, I would like to see them to expand or evolve the series more. They will probably cost 34.99 :(

Personally, I all think it's just a scam, just for them to make more money. No offense Pokemon lovers, but they keep making more Pokemons to entertain the avid young Pokemaniacs, releasing more merchandise by the second, yet they're losing ground. Silver/Gold/Crystal was by far the best installment made, it was innovative and original, because you could breed Pokemon and what not (IMO!) and different versions of Eevee. Its my favorite in the Pokemon series and probably will always be. But, in reference to your original point, yes, I am disgusted.

I'm not quite so disgusted. I'm actually looking forward to the release of Pokemon Colleseum for the Gamecube... the RPG segement of it looks pretty interesting. I'll probably be buying one of each of the fire and leaf carts so that I can get the wireless adapter for my GBA's.

Yes, I'm a sucker.. so what.
This is no different than going and buying the lastest sports game every year for just marginal improvements.

You hit it on the head right there.

While we are at it, stop making FF's, because they are merely cosmetic differences, with a slightly different battle system.

Fighting games should be halted here as well. No one wants variety. We can all play Street Fighter 2, and be done with it. New characters; ha, not likely to trick me into paying money.

Card games MUST stop. I mean, all they do is rehash the game with new sets. Millions of people have the veil pull over their eyes.

Why are sports are a social phenomonom? All they do is repeat the SAME game, with the SAME rules, and add a few new players for a lame rehash of years past.

If you are going to bash on a game, it had better be of validity. I will admit that making multiple versions of the same generation may be a nuisance, but don't criticize for what some schmoe wasted his money on.

The game has the best community I have ever seen; the replayibility is better than any I have EVER seen. New generations ensure that it does not die from repetitive metagame, the same way nearly EVERY game in history has done.

I used to own the original Red, and had a lot of fun with it. I didn't play another one after that until the GBA version came out. I think I played Ruby for maybe 6 hours or so before I got tired of it. I foolishly expected more out of the "Next Generation" of Pokemon.

For a while, the Pokemon games were the only thing I was playing on Dot Matrix/GBC. I bought Sapphire and when I found out you can't trade over the pokemon from the other versions, I just quit playing it.
