Another Stadium Events NES is going GOLD on eBay!

I like to sit back and watch stuff like this. There's no way in the world I would ever buy the game, even if I had the money lying about.

But I'm also not a collector. I may have hundreds of games (and a huge backlog), but all of them were purchased with the intention of actually playing them.

the lady selling her system with the game got some good online press, so I wonder if we are going to see a small trickle of these get ebayed soon. I wonder how many are with people who had no idea its value.

Maybe Nintendo will nuke the value of this crap by making it available in the virtual console sometime soon^^

That wouldn't nuke the value. People don't want this because it is fun to play, they want it because the cart is rare.

i was being sarcastic mainly towards everyone who cried and went emo when sony put ffvii out on psn and swore that the collectors value of the disc version would go to shit.

6 days to go... I can see the final price easily being enough to cover a semester of tuition here at Tulane. Considering they're buying about $5 worth of cardboard and silicon that is insane.

I hope it's a fake.

I thought I was nuts when I paid ~110 for a copy of Rondo of Blood for the PC Engine back in 2005 but at least I wanted to play the game (it was/is very good, no regrets here). Paying 20k and up for what amounts to a piece of plastic, wrapped in cardboard, wrapped in plastic is fucking retarded on a whole 'nother level.

wow... that is truly a rare find... but I really dont understand. Who cares that there is only a few of them. Buying anything for that price that cannot drive me to work every day, or be put towards a roof over my head is absolutely fucking crazy.

and I thought I was bad with money/nostalgia factor...

The part I find most amusing is the plastic wrap/cellophane. That will decay over time, and then it'll be gone. And the game being sealed is really what's driving up the price.

$40,100 at the time of this post, auction has 15 hours to go. At this point, I highly doubt the seller is going to get paid after it's over.

what the heck....I thought there were like 20 copies of this game. Now there are sealed and boxed copies popping up all over the place.

The seller needs to take way better pics to see if its authentically sealed.[/QUOTE]

Here come the fakes. Seriously, how hard would it be to make the box, put an old SMB cart inside and seal it up? It's the perfect scam - no one will ever open it! For $10K I'm sure a bunch of people are thinking about it right now.

seems like both the box and cellophane would be really hard to fake, but I guess with the right tools at your disposal and the technical ability...on the other hand, it could be dumbasses who don't expect collectors to know every last sign of a fake copy.

If that IS real, this guy sucks at making Ebay auctions. The title, description, pics - everything is terrible for an item like this.

Of course, with something so popular - maybe it doesn't need a good title or description...

This doesn't really do a lot for the theory that there are only two sealed copies in the world. What are the odds that they both belonged to someone who didn't know/care what they were?

I think the number of Stadium Events in the world needs to be reevaluated.

This is a confirmed reseal, it is not factory sealed. it does not have the correct seams or hangtag. there is no telling what is in that box.

also there is no telling even if the box is legit (reproduction) without better pics

This auction appears to be a scam with shill bidding.

The previous auction had several legitimate bidders/collector types at the 40k price range, but the actual winner is not confirmed yet to be legit.

Even with these being auctioned, there are only ~12 copies CIB (including the 2 legit sealed) accounted for in the past 13 years.

As for cart only, there are quite a few more that have sold probably in the ~100 range

There are more out there, just not many
