Any anime reccomendations?

CAGiversary!
Anyone who has viewed some of the anime based topics around here knows im a huge anime fan. Recently I have been unable to find a good new anime that I can truely enjoy. As of late I finished kiddy grade and D.N.Angel which were both subpar. I am looking for a anime that will make me laugh similar to the way I laughed when I saw love hina (really funny). Before you post such reccomendations as naruto or inuyasha I already am watching those as well as many other animes of that sort, Im looking strickly for a comedy/drama anime, any reccomendations.

Have you seen KO Century Beast? That was pretty funny and along the lines I think your looking for.

Has that been suggested already?

Well, if you like comedy w/ a good dose of action, try Ranma 1/2. It was done by Rumiko Takahashi, same woman that animates Inuyasha. Trust me, it's alot funnier and the characters are more memorable to say the least

I was going to recommend Saikano (Saishuuheiki Kanojo), then I saw you were looking for humor.

Saikano's the best I've ever seen...but you won't find much to laugh about.

In terms of the funny...try either Excel Saga or Azumanga Daioh.

And while I haven't seen 'em, I was told Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Panic Fumoffu are pretty good, but that Alchemist wasn't as good. *shrugs* Just what I've been told.

But don't let your love for just one genre of anime keep you from branching out. I cannot recommend Saikano enough.

I'd like to second Azumanga, it is funny at times and very laid back. I'd also like to second Full Metal Panic Fumoffu. It is downright hilarious. I'd put FMPF on the top of my list.

I also Third Azumanga and Full Metal Panic Fumoffu, simply hilarious. And add the up coming ROD t.v. for cool factor (assuming you've seen the OVA which if you havent, you should.)

Have you seen Dragon Half? Only two episodes, but very funny.

I laughed a number of times at episodes 3 and 4 of All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl. It's worth a rent if you have Netflix, though Dragon Half is much funnier.

If you liked Love Hina and are looking for a good romantic comedy, may I recommend:

Ai Yori Aoshi - some people didn't like this one as much as His and Her Circumstances, but I liked it better. It's starts out as a really sweet romance and then turns into a full-blown harem comedy with remnants of that romance to fill in the bits. Plus if you act fast you can get all five DVDs for one low price at The Right Stuff International until tomorrow morning (it's a weekly special).

Mahoromatic - There are two seasons to this series, for a total of six discs plus a "summer special" OVA. Take the romance of AYA away and put in some great action sequences, and keep all the harem comedy, and that's what you get here. Plus it's from GAINAX, the studio who brought you FLCL and Evangelion among others, so you are assured great production quality. And of course lots of boobies!

Maison Ikkoku - Based on the popular manga by Takahashi Rumiko, who also created the Ranma 1/2, Inuyasha, and Urusei Yatsura manga series. Think of this one as a comedy/drama, about a bunch of misfits who live in a Japanese co-op. It's a big commitment, because the series goes some 96 episodes, and only the first 36 episodes have been released so far on R1 DVD, but it's a great, great show so far. Highly recommended.

Fruits Basket - I have it, but I haven't watched it yet. So many people have sworn by this one, so it could be worth your while to check it out. Plus the entire series is only on four DVDs, so it's a fairly cheap investment.

Excel Saga. If you're looking for humor, ye need look no further, for verily is excel saga an anime of humour and mirth.

I'm gonna second Ranma 1/2. That's a definite must-see.

Also, have you seen the Love Hina movies/ova in addition to the series? Grab those if you haven't, since you mentioned you liked Love Hina.

His and Her Circumstances was pretty good. The big negative was a lot of filler episodes and recapping. However, I still enjoyed the series.

I haven't seen Azumangah Daioh yet, but I've heard all great things about it. It's on my list to see.

Good Luck! 8)

I always found Neon Genesis Evangelion to be funny. But maybe that's just me, and I'm sure you've already seen it a hundred times.

Hmm I saw dragon half but If I remeber its a hentai so I didnt watch it too thoroughly, ill look into GTO, Ive seen ranma 1/2, didnt like his and her circumstances, seen fruit basket and didnt like it either, hmm everything else you guys said ill look into, thanks.

Dragon Half isn't hentai, it's ecchi, so it will still make you blush in front of your mother. ;)

I wouldn't recommend Excel Saga because of the sheer amount of in-jokes and cultural references. Plus it might start out funny but it really dies off toward the end. If you want something just as wacky but would hold your attention, go with the FLCL recommendation.

Yeah, GTO is definitely worth a look.

The thing about Excel Saga is if you get the DVDs instead of fansubs, you'll have the option of turning on pop-up explanations of cultural references and in-jokes. Very neat feature.

And Samurai X = Rurouni Kenshin for those who use Japanese names. Not a bad series.

If you want something funny - "Full Metal Panic!" and "Full metal Panic - Fumoffu?". Funniest anime I've seen, especially Fumoffu.

If you're in the market for a more serious anime, go with Gungrave.

I really didn't find the original FMP that funny. It was actually very serious with one or two jokes thrown in now and then. FMPF on the other hand was straight comedy.
