I am in the market for an e-reader, and decided upon either the older sony prs505 or newer prs600 although I am pretty sure I would prefer the older version since i like the contrast on it better than the prs600. Seeing if anyone obtained a good deal on these items during this past week of deals and if so, please share
any info would be appreciated! thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I went ahead and actually bought a Sony Pocket Reader (PRS300) from Costco. 199$ for the reader, leather case and the USB to AC charger($218 with CA tax
) . The PRS300 is basically a smaller version of the PRS505 as well as lacking some features such as the memory expansion slots and audio which I don't care about in either case, though others may do care. Screen is smaller but the same as the 505 in terms of clarity, may slightly be better than the 505 given a slightly higher DPI on the 300. In either case, since it was bought from Costco, I can always return within 90 days if I feel that the reader is too small etc, but I dont think that will be the case
Should tide me over until new readers come out that have the great screen/eink quality of the PRS300/PRS505, wifi capability, mostly metal construction, support for all ebook formats, and a non touch interface unless they come out with a touch screen that can overlay on top of the eink display without the 'glare' and resulting clarity/contrast reduction which turned me off from the PRS600 after some testing.
any info would be appreciated! thanks in advance!
