hey guyz im having a big problem....yesterday my ps2 fell and now it doesnt detect my network adapter at all....what makes it worse is that i had just gotten ff11..i went and bought a new network adaper (which i have 2 now so i could part with one) but it still did not detect it..i borrowed a friends ps2 and i connected the network adapter and it detected it but when i tried to boot up my hard drive play online did not work...so i think my hd migth have gotten damaged as well...im thinking of exchanging my ff11 tomm and i think my ps2 is done for...(it works fine just cant play online now) ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Hmmm....well perhaps you can try Sony and tell them that you just got the HDD and it is not detecting. Since some people here on the boards are having this issue, maybe many others do too. They might fix it for free, but they will ask if you dropped it, or if it got wet...of course they also ask "To your knowledge" if anything of that happened. You could just say no, and have them give it a try. They do have in print, that if it is something else, or if it is more expensive they could charge you in the end.

All in all, it depends what route you want to go, and if you are willing to part w/ your PS2 for a week or two.

well the thing is that it did work perfectly.....its jsut fell and now i guess somethign got messed up and it wont detect networl adapter which also means wont detect hd...

Well as mentioned, it is more to your concious what you want to tell them. If you want to be truthful they might repair it for a fee. If you mention that you just bought the NA and HDD but it won't detect it, well that's something else. As mentioned, the ball is in your court, pass it or shoot it.

Edit: 1000th post *fireworks* wow, it's glorious

but i mean i got my ps2 second hand so i know theres no warranty what so ever.......i mean i think ima exchange the hard drive no matter what tommorow ...but i think i just wanna get a new ps2...dunno im not even a big sony fan but i wanna play my damn ff11,,ii only got to play one night..sux

also congrats on 1000th post

hey it does not matter how you got it. I sent my original PS2 and a PS2 I bought off a friend to Sony to repair. I just told them I bought the other used and that the store was in another state when I was visiting my wife's parents (they had asked if I went to the store to see what they could do about it, so I said no and made up that reason). So they told me they would fix it for free in the end, and they did and it works fine just like my original one. My wife was using it for a little bit. Now my problem was just DRE, but they might do the same for you.

It cost me around 12 bucks shipped with confirmation delivery and insurance for $150 (since normally you find used PS2 for that price). Then they ship it back themselves.

No, I didn't pay $150 for insurance, I paid the insurance for a value of $150 which is really like 4-5 bucks. I paid a total for the whole thing (delivery confirmation, insurance, and postage) a total of $12 and some change. Trust me, I would not pay $150 for insurance....that beats the purpose of getting it fixed for free, when you can purchase it for that price.

dont get another one, just get sony to fix it. I dont understand why anyone would get insurance on a damaged item, if it gets damaged in transit, and you had it insured, then you file an insurance claim form and they pay you (eventually). but if it is already broken, then what is the point of getting it insured??? the sony people will fix it anyways.
