Any decent laptop deals in stores?

2gb of RAM with over a third of a gig dedicated to integrated video, on a Vista machine, is gross. Vista uses right around a gig itself. You'll have about 650mb of RAM for applications... which may be enough today, but won't be enough tomorrow.

I know you said in-store, but this has free next-day shipping, which is almost as good, right?

$1399 XPS M1530 -$619 off original price
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7500
3GB Memory
250GB Hard Drive
256MB Nvidia 8600M GT Video Card

Use coupon 7D425SNMDPQF3N to get an extra $100 off from m1330

Total: $1191.

$760 might seem like a lot less than $1,191, but keep in mindyou won't have to pay tax (which would have made the Gateway ~$825) and you can easily eBay the $200 Dell gift card (which would make the Dell ~$1,000), and the difference in quality is definitely worth more than $175.

You'd have a full 2 gigs of RAM for applications, you'd have a real GPU instead of integrated BS, and you'll have a much better processor.

If I were buying a laptop today, I'd either get this XPS or a MacBook.

many people say that its really nice for $400 bucks. But with that said, the build quality is lower then a bit more expensive laptops. I personally went for the acer 5620 from bestbuy for $600 + tax. Because it's basically a desktop replacement for me since i dont do gaming on pc (and i plan on installing server 2003 on it :)).

I did alot of research and came up with the Acer extensa 5620 was the right combination of specs and most bang for my $$$. I had purchased the sony vaio vnr120 for $549 from bestbuy but after looking up reviews and about xp on it i was extremely pissed. I decided to return that garbage (only reason i bought it was because of impulse) just cause its a vaio doesn't mean its good ;) .

Probably get the Compaq! Anyone heard anything bad about it?
Hopefully it's not too bad. But I'll record a vid just for CAG if everyone goes wild.
haha.

Get the compaq, just go buy it today and price adjust tommorow, no waiting in lines and such :)

Or you can wait till next week... best buy has been having $400 laptops for like 5 weeks now.

I already tried, all the BB in 50 miles of me have to "HOLD" their stock until tommarow, doesn't make sense because no one has the store minimum, which means they sold some. I called when this was first posted, almost everyon had 13+. now they have around 5, but what can I do?:bomb:

Well, I don't know anything about Compaq, so I'm hesitent to buy...

How do you guys feel about macs? I'm looking to upgrade in the next month or two and have started leaning towards getting a mac. I don't play games on computers (well I sometimes go back and play things like space quest). It'll be for business mostly and basic home use.

I've used a mac before in film school to cut my films on, but once I was done I sold it. I'm tired of my slow system, freezes, and crashes.

It's more money but seems to be stable. I don't know enough about Vista, but it seems the majority says stay away.

So Best Buy has a sale this week with two Toshiba Laptops, which include two free PC games of your choice.

The fact that Crysis is pictured fools me into thinking this laptop can run the game, so I just wanted your opinions on how reliable either of these laptops are, and which one has the better advantage (the pricier one has an HD-DVD player). If these laptops CAN run a game like Crysis (or at least something less taxing), then the only important thing is that it has a DVI/HDMI port so I can hook it up to my TV.
