any depth to Halo 2?
You greatly misunderstood my point, and that is apparent. It wasn't that the sequel lacked umph, they generally don't.

Earlier you were going easy on Bungie for basically taking out EVERYTHING that was promoted because "you have to get the game out sometime". Sorry, the final product of Halo 2 in no way resembles three years of work. It's Halo with a few minor tweaks. What they did for those three years is anyone's guess, it certainly wasn't working on new features.
What did you expect to be different/better? What would you have done?

What did GTA improve in their sequels since 3? What does Madden change year to year? What has really changed in any of the 50 Medal of Honor games? If you want to say that theres an industry wide problem of repetition and not making any real improvements, then fine, but Halo does not stand out from anything else in this way. Halo doesn't seem nearly as bad as any of these. The graphics have improved a great deal, maybe its just me because I use it in high def on a monitor. The weapons are a lot more balanced now. The sword is a big change, the AI is a lot better for both friend and foe, dual wielding is new to the series, theres more recoil, vehicles can be destroyed now. Theres a lot of improvements.

Good point Duo Maxwell. I have only seen about two or three completely new weapons. All the other weapons I have used are either from the first game or slighlty modified. Assault rifle aka Battle Rifle with scope just as an example. My friends and I are going to be playing tonite again so hopefully I will run into these other weapons and maybe I will appreciate the game a lot more. If not whatever I still enjoy it, just not as much as some other people. Would rather be playing TimeSplitters 2 online but they didn't make it online did they, for what reason I don't know. What are you gonna do? I guess play Halo until TimeSplitters 3 comes out and it is online compatible.

The ONLY reason there's this much backlash against Halo 2 is because it continues being talked about on every forum and every game website all over the internet.

Once people shut the hell up about it and stop hearing about it we won't have to hear all these "oh its SUCH an overrated game" jackasses again.

By then, those jackasses will have moved on to another random game and call it overrated. Because, y'know, that's the the trendy thing to do.

Again, you're missing it. YOU were cutting Bungie slack for "cutting" things out to make the deadline. THey added JACK SHIT. They had plenty of time to add in whatever you can dream of in those three years. Instead we're left with some shadow of a product. It's very, VERY clear.

Yeah, because I can't dislike a game without being in the "cool crowd".
I guess I am a jackass because this game falls into a similar category as Fable: years of production and overrated.
Nope I like your simply not a fan boy. I like Halo 2 and Fable, but I think with all the time they spent on those titles they could have at least given me somehting a bit longer.

You know they didn't add a whole lot really. But who cares, if they had of handed me the old Halo with online play I'd have been happy and considered it one of the best games ever.

I'm sure we'll see a lot more maps downloadable soon and that will help assuage some of the haters (maybe). Until then, who cares I enjoy it and don't give a damn if you don't.

Ok, so we get it now, you dislike the game. Nobody forces you to play. Feel free to sell it and spend your money on something you like.

Obviously you've made up your mind that its a bad game so it seems pointless for you to continue debating with people who enjoy it.

And if they'd have put this out in a year people would've bitched that they rushed it and didn't take their time. Nobody is ever happy in the video game industry - there's always people who will find something to bitch about.

I asked you what you would have added. What would you have done? What would you have liked to see?

1. I'm no good in a close-quarters firefight. It seems like every time, I'll be unloading at the same pace as the other guy, with the same weapon, and I end up getting killed. I also don't understand, why I'm usually at close range, have the recticle on my target, yet in the stats my hit ratio is embarrassingly low (did I spell that right?).
Because the other player is better than you are. And possibly because your using a low accuracy weapon (SMG).

Try using a better weapon combo, such as SMG + Pistol. Try moving around, jumping around, or moving behind things to make the other player miss. Try using a melee attack on the other player after shooting him for a while. Try staying close to teammates so you can have two people on one target. Would you simply stand in front of someone else with a gun in real life and just unload on each other without trying to get out of the way? This isn't the wild west.

I'm not terribly good at 1 on 1 battles myself but I know that if you're just going to stand there and shoot an opposing player, even if all things are even, you don't stand a very good chance of winning. Do something to help yourself, instead of standing there and hoping he dies before you do, thats not the way to win.

As for the OP, coordination and teamwork are 90% of the game. 4 average players working as a team will beat 4 great players working as individuals 9 times out of 10. There can be a lot of depth and a lot of strategy if you work effectively as a team, but its hard to achieve this playing with a group of random people on your team.

One of the drawbacks to the otherwise good matchmaking system, is that since you're on a team of equals, playing against equals, you don't get much of a chance to play with or against better players, to see what they do. You can learn a lot that way if you pay attention.
im no good at close quarters either but i really despise when every1 uses that stupid sword. that thing is sooo annoying and cheap

All you have to do is keep your distance and shoot the sword user, he won't be able to do anything but die. Just don't let him get close to you. Drawing him into the open would be best.

I thought Fable was a good game, it just sucked that 15 hours into the game I was maxing out abilities. If it was longer it would have been perfect. I would only consider Fable a little overrated not that much though. I also don't think it bad for people to complain about games, hopefully it shows these programmers that they can't just put a little effort into some games and expect gold. Is it really that bad to expect a lot out of three years of work? There was a lot of hype around Transformers and people just bought it just because it was Transformers. It ended up that the game was mediocre at best and people just tried to convince themselves that it was good. Now Halo and Transformers are a little different because there was a lot more hype then Transformers and Halo was a good game but I just don't really see what they were working on in those three years. There were changes of course but Halo 2 should have came out a lot sooner than.
