Any Doctor Who fans?

Looks good. I'm looking forward to the new season, though it may be awhile before Sci-Fi airs it (I rarely download TV shows, though I may have to download Tourchwood, since I doubt it will come out in the US). Hopefully David Tennant will stay on as the Doctor for at least one or two more seasons after this one, since he's my favorite so far.

I started watching Doctor Who when Sci-Fi aired season 1 of the new series after the end of season 2 of Battlestar Galactica, and I've really gotten to love the show and how different it is from standard Sci-Fi. I even catch the late night reruns of 4th Doctor episodes on my local public television station. They're a little cheesy, but a lot of fun.

Actually, it might not be that long of a wait this year. The UK gets it on March 31 while Sci Fi already pciked it up.

So once the UK finishes airing in around 3 months, then we will get it which is pretty fast....at least faster tahn season 1....took a year for that to air...

Exactly...
Why do we have to wait to begin with?! The show is in English for crying out loud.
British ---> English is a hard translation. Not quite as bad as Australian ---> English.

I love Doctor WHo but I'm sick of having people leave the show!

And the new Doctor has signed on for at least 4 seasons so he has at least one after this one.

The New Earth episodes are my favorite I think, and we have one more of them sometime in the future.

I agree with everything you have said. David Tennant is an excellent Doctor in my opinion. I hope he stays for awhile. I also started watching it on Sci-Fi when it first came on and was hooked. I never even heard of it before! I would love to buy the dvd seasons, but I cannot figure out why they cost about 80 dollars!!! Aren't most season shows about 30 - 40 bucks?

I can't wait for Season 3 of the New Doctor!

You never have heard of Doctor Who? :wtf:

The DVDs cost so much for the same reason the Showtime and HBO DVDs cost so much.

If the price holds you'll be able to get them for $50-55 during the next Deep Discount DVD sale. That's how I got season 1, and I'm planning on getting season 2 during the next summer sale. Not a great price, but better then most places.

I'd just prefer to pay $35 and get them on a 2 or 1 disc HD DVD set since they were shot on tape. Seriously one dual layer HD DVD could fit one if not two seasons of it.

The new series is okay but there are a couple issues I have. The first season they just had to make the Doctor darker because that's the "hip" thing to do. I really don't need the Doctor full of angst. It takes away from the series. Also there was very sloppy writing.

The Second season was like a fanfic. Which I found disappointing.

I hope they even things out a lot in the third season.
Daleks?! What does it take to get rid of those guys?! Jeez!
I'm glad the Daleks are back. They're my favorite Who villians.
I loved the exchange between the Daleks and the Cybermen in the season 2 finale.

Daleks have died about 968,494 times and at least 2 or three times in two years!

And I thought season 2 was great, the interaction between The Doctor and Rose were great. And the episode with K9 and Sarah Jane was one of the best explaining the Doctors love, but the lack of showing it.
Sassy Daleks?! That's even worse than the regular kind!
Yeah those Daleks were special, I believe that they all had names and were attempting to be more like other species to better understand them.
Stairs. Everybody knows that. Failing that, put a cute dress on a salt shaker - it should distract 'em long enough for you to get away.
You obviously didn't see the first season of the new show where the Delek is reintroduced. Goes up stairs very nicely. :p

Only 10 more days til the new season starts for people in the Uk......the states will have to wait (or not....) :sigh:

i used to watch the older ones on pbs when i was a kid. i cant recall who was the dr in them but i noticed they changed them around alot but there was one in particular i thought was pretty cool . i think he kinda looked like the lead singer of the who but im not sure. and i watched a few episodes of the one with the buy guy from gone in 60 secs in it ( hes also in the new heros show) and they were ok. i still dont get wtf the whole dr who story is about though aside from travelling in time in a phone booth.

Whoo.....Dr. Who fever is in me....Just a couple more days and then I can watch some new who....over the internet...

Doctor Who for the Atari 2600

If the game doesn't exist, Just make your own. There are a lot of great shows that deserved to have games but for some reason it never happened. Here is Doctor Who with a run-down of how I came up with the idea.

I have been playing a lot of Malagai lately. It is a really good Atari 2600 game that a lot of people don't even know about. You should give it a try. You are trapped in a maze with some really weird Aliens and the only way out is thru 3 locked gates/airlocks. Guess who has the keys?

Original Malagai Screenshot
Malagai.gif

As I play games I usually come up with a few ideas about making changes and Malagai was no different. The first thing that I wanted to change was the enemies. The original Aliens were just too similar and the game is hard enough without chasing the wrong keyholder. So I changed them all to Robots that each had a distinctive look. Next I wanted to change the player sprite. In Malagai you are a floating spaceman with a jetpack. It is a cool looking sprite but doesn't really fit the maze theme. I changed it to a running man sprite. As I was play-testing the changes I noticed that the original sprite sizes overlapped the mazes so I clipped them by a few pixels to square them between the maze walls. At this stage I already enjoyed the game more then the original.

So, That's it then. Another finished hack. Not quite. Why leave things alone when you can change them? I decided to change the three maze level colors. I prefer primary colors so the new maze colors are Blue, Red, Bright Green. Next up the Title screen. I think the name Malagai actually hurts a game like this. What does Malagai mean? Malagai is actually the name of the race of Aliens in the original game. Malagai is a good name for Aliens but a bad name for a game. Most people don't know what a Malagai is or how to pronounce it. How do you tell your friends about this great new game when you can't even say the name? So lets see, We have a game with Robots in a maze and the Robots can go into an attack mode. A few titles I came up with:
Robot War
Robot Maze
Robot Riot
They are all OK but they don't quite do it. Then I started thinking about movies with Robot type enemies:
Borg
Cylons
Daleks
Daleks?? Hmmmm. Always wanted a Doctor Who game for the Atari 2600. So Daleks it is. After a few minutes of trying to make three distinctive Daleks I decided not to use them. Wait a minute, Doctor Who also has CYBERMEN!!! That's it. And it just so happens that there was a revival of the Cybermen on the new Doctor Who show on SciFI Channel. So now I have the name of the hack, RISE of the CYBERMEN!

I use Hack-O-Matic for most of my hacks and in the description of how I made this hack I leave out a lot of the tedious trial and error of searching for code that controls graphics, colors, etc.. Sometimes the smallest detail can take the longest to add or change. I am amazed at how a few changes and a tie-in to a show I like really increases the enjoyment I have playing the game. So there you have a rough overview of how I hack a game. I usually don't have a plan other then to make a few changes and it just evolves into something. Give it a try with one of your favorites. And Yes, It does work in an actual Atari 2600 in cartridge form.

I have also made Atari 2600games for:
Death Race 2000
Westworld
Star Trek
Star Wars
Dawn of the Dead
Mad Max
Wolfenstein VCS
And many more. Check them all out at my website:

I watched the Tom Baker ones all the time, back in the day.

Isn't this supposed to be the last doctor or second to last doctor, storyline wise?

It's the 10th or 11th doctor, I think the 10th and then have 2-3 left.

I think the Big Head fro mthe Earth 2 storyline will play a very important part in The Doctor getting more lives.

I doubt they'll enforce the limit on the number of times the Doctor can regenerate as long as the show makes money.
Plus, I saw an old Tom Baker episode with a race that learned how to regenerate from the Time Lords and they said that they had regenerated over 100 times while on a voyage for a new home world.

Yes but it was part of the Doctor Who storyline that he only get 12 or 13 for some reason.

And it will be enforced, they will not end the show through. Rumour is Son of Dcotor Who, but it's sci-fi and they can do what they want to get around it. I'm not worried about that yet.
