Any Good Camera Deals?

Hi everyone, I've recently been looking around for a good camera, but I'm unsure of what to buy. I've look around on the internet and even made trips to a couple of stores to try out the ones that I'm interested in, but while they had the three main ones I was looking at, their batteries were unfortunately dead.

What I'm looking for is at least a 10.0MP camera with a decent optical zoom (at least 15x). No DSLRs as unfortunately cannot afford them. My budget is around $250.

The cameras that I have been researching are the Nikon Coolpix L110, the Fujifilm FinePix S1800, and the Kodak EasyShare Z981 so if anyone has anything to say about those (have them, used them, etc) I would really appreciate to hear what you have to say. If anyone has any other suggestions for good cameras, please let me know.

Thanks a bunch for any help!!

I got my dad the Z981 for Christmas (he's really techno-tarded, but trying to learn) and I think it's been declared as the best gift he's ever gotten. He loves it. It's not too technical to where he can't use it, and it's not the simplest thing, but it's pretty awesome in his opinion. He wanted it to start getting into photography of nature as a hobby, and so far he enjoys it.

The pictures look good on it, and he loves the zoom function, as it allows him to get pictures of stuff like deer that he can't get as close to as he might like.

If you can snag it for under $200 (I paid $198), I think you'll like it.

Awesome, well thanks for that. I really wanted to know about the picture quality so that helps a lot (you'd be amazed at the reviews that forget to mention picture quality, go figure).

So thanks a bunch!! :D

You're certainly welcome.

I know my sister wanted the Fujifilm S1800 prior to seeing the Z981, and now she wants one. For her to be impressed and change her mind on something like that is shocking.

I checked the prices on Amazon, and jeez the Z981 went up.

Thanks for the Panasonic suggestion. I looked up the CNET review and the image quality is stunning. I'll definitely keep it in mind as the Fujifilm I mentioned has really bad image quality and the Panasonic is also better (when comparing CNET's shots) to the Nikon as well. :)

Whatever you do, Do not buy a Vivatar. Just a warning, due to the fact i got one for Christmas and we had to return it, pictures are horrible, so bad that my black and white cat when taken a picture of her(she's awfully fluffy) She looked turned up looking radioactive, even without the flash on. we had 2 of them a gift from someone else, it did the same thing.

we returned it for this one

Its awesome in my opinion, it takes pictures like a family would want, not a professonial camera, takes video with sound too.

Here's a picture taken by it, i dunno if it gives you much, i didn't wanna give out pictures of my family without permission:

Anyhow just warning you

Hi, I think I've found the one that I want. After researching Panasonic's Lumix line of cameras I found the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35. Before I go ahead and buy it thought I just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it? The reviews are really good for it and it is exactly what I am looking for. :) Thanks everyone with all of the help!! :D
