Anyone know where I can find a guide of what parts to buy?
I'm looking for a cheap ($400ish) PC to use for school mostly but, a little bit of gaming (AoE3 WoW)
Any help would be appreciated :D
Thanks,
CPLJ

A gaming PC for $400? Magicians we are not. Even $400 for a budget PC is bit of a stretch. At that price you are better off buying a pre-built at Dell.

Yeah, $400 is pretty damn low. Your best bet is to find someone with an older computer who doesn't want it anymore. And even then, it'll look pretty bad.

If you spec it to play WoW, $400 for just the system may be possible, you'd just have to use a pentium 4 and an old GFX card like a 9800ATI.
Thanks for feedback like i said this is 50% for school work :D Probably going to go with the Dell deal
I gotta say that Dell deal is suprisingly good, IMO. I really love to put it all together myself, but for a basic PC I don't know that you can get much better than that Dell.

Just wanted to add that since it has a PCI-Express slot, when you save $300, slap on a 8800GTS into that Dell and you got yourself a formidable PC that will run Oblivion at max settings and will most likely run Crysis at near-max settings.

I dunno about that Nvidia 6150 LE graphics card combined with only 512MB of memory.

But you're probably not going to find a better deal than that, especially one that includes a monitor.

Avoid the Dell video cards at all costs. Just go with the integrated option until you save enough money for a decent video card from Newegg. The 7300 is terrible. I'd also call Dell just to confirm that the PC has a PCI-Express slot. I'm pretty sure it does but I'm not positive.

I'm positive it does. Otherwise they wouldn't let you pick any PCIe card.

Well, for $400 you can build yourself a pretty decent startup to a gaming machine...you will eventually have to drop some more money into the future, especially for a DX10 card.

You should be able to get some decent gaming from either that Dell Machine someone posted OR that custom build from Newegg (Which I recommend Personally)

It does, but the case is very small and will be limited to half height cards, I bought that computer for my mom this past christmas.

Actually scratch that, I bought her the C521...not t he E521...damn case looks very similar.
