My girlfriend needs a laptop. Basically she will only being using it for the internet and Microsoft Office. Any good deals on a decent laptop? We are trying to spend the least amount while getting a decent laptop. Thanks in advance.

Check the Sunday ads. When my mom bought a laptop we went to Best Buy first thing Sunday morning and got a decent (for what she uses it for) laptop for $300.
Though I did spend another $50 on more RAM.

If you go this route make sure you check to see how many RAM slots the laptop has. I thought my moms laptop had two, so I only got a 512 MB stick to go with the 256 it already had, but it only had one.

And make sure you say NO to all the extra crap they try to sell you. They actually offered to install Anti-Virius software for ~$50... It had anti-virius preloaded from the factory.

You'd pretty much have to get there first thing too, since a lot of people buy the "on sale" laptops to resell on eBay.

YMMV but my best buy has a boatload, I mean like 60 or more gateway notebooks on sale for $500. Came with Vista Premium, 1 gig of ram and a higher end core duo, not core 2 duo, still quite a good deal since it wasn't a celeron or a single core notebook with only 512 mb of ram.

The best bet with getting a cheap laptop is to get as cheap as you can get and then upgrade instantly with 1 gig+ of ram. Fry's had 2 gig of notebook ram for ~$50 just last week.

I picked up a laptop at Bestbuy this morning. Thanks for the tip of getting there early though because there was a bunch of people there.
