Been playing consoles forever...just got a new lappie...

Curious about WOW...any good free servers? As a CAG...I'm not sure I want to pony up monthly unless that's the only way to go...

TIA for advice!

Most of the free ones suffer relly bad from everything, from what I have heard. It's kinda funny, I only real thought about using the free servers after I already stopped playing. But I suggest you pay, there is little chance of hacking, everything is always okay, your stuff is there forever as opposed to maybe being wiped. Also, since most free servers have stuff like 2x xp it really makes the game suck. You get burned out much faster and you do not get to enjoy the small things in the game, and theya re what make it so great.

$15/month for wow is the best money i have ever paid for any game.

just think of it like this. you pay $15/month but save hundreds of dollars since you will never have to buy any other video games for years to come!

I have yet to try it but http://www.burning-wow.com/guide.html offers their servers for free. You have one that is 15x and one that is 1x. So you can get 15x every thing or have it all like normal. also if i read it correctly all you need is the 14 day trial and the server wont know that is only the trial.

That's actually pretty damn true. You also save money on food and other expenses too, as you will rarely eat or leave the house.

I've tried a few free ones and a friend's free one, but I can say, without a doubt in my mind, that they all suck. It's not worth it in comparison. Just pony up the money and have fun.

I second that. Don't play it.I spent 1500 hours on it. That's 50-something days, no breaks, sitting at the computer playing WoW. I could have gotten laid.

Think of the money you'll save on gas by not going and doing trivial things... like maintaining relationships. Think of the money you'll save by not meeting members of the opposite sex. Think of the scholarships you won't be getting because your 2.0 GPA means you're still paying.

For reals though, free ones aren't very good.

I second the don't play wow. You spend alot of time to get to 70 then it is get the gear. Once you get the gear in PVP or PVE it is time to get gear in the other one. So you get your PVE gear now you have to go and get your PVP gear or by the time you get the one set of gear they come out with a new set. Also it is not something you can play on your own to get the gear. Atleast not PVE. You need 10 man groups and people get really pissy if you do not show up or do the wrong thing. Most guilds want an app. They end up thinking it is like a job or they make a game into a job. It is not worth it.

Wow ate 2 years of my life. If it hadn't been for the last expansion I would probably still be playing (hated the expansion).

dont need gas, use your mount. fuel up with the carrot on a stick if you need a boost.

there are plenty of night elf chicks to meet in darn.(hopefully they are opposite sex)

who needs scholarships? become an engineer in the game!

all for $15/month! bargain,...

You need to play with pre-existing friends who are either in similar life situations are you or are understanding of yours. That's the whole key to WoW.
