I've been waiting on these to drop for awhile. I would have picked up VP2, but I'm trying to work on my backlog. I was hoping to have made a dent in my backlog by the time it drops, but I haven't been too successful with that.

I dont know about VP2, but maybe Okami....... in a few months. :/ just get it at best buy with a GGC for 37.88 w/ tax.. depending where you live.

I'm waiting for Okami to go greatest hits. If it doesn't, I bet that Eb will have some kind of price drop for it anyways.

Just be patient, those games will eventually go down in price.Majority of Squareenix game rpg without "final fantasy" name drop in price within 3-5 months and Okami might not drop quite as soon since sells pretty solid.

In the meantime,go play your backlog games. You probably accumatled many games from all those clearance sales.Too bad,you missed all those chances:$20 off google checkout on buy, amazon christmas sell, overstock coupon error, valkyrie profile 2 for $26.

While I know there's no chance I'd be getting around to Valkyrie Profile 2 in 2007, given my emphasis on playing 'catch-up' this year (see sig), I'm worried that it will follow in its predecessor's footsteps and become a very rare game. Same with Xenosaga III. Are my fears well-founded? Should I 'bite' at the first price drop for either, or are we looking at two future candidates for 'Bargain Bin' fodder? Something in-between?

I'm hoping one of them goes down at Best Buy since I have a $20 gift card and a ggc coupon good till June of this year.

Xenosaga is rare?

you know, i bet that VP2 will be easy enough to find for at least the next 6 months then i would start worring, it will probably drop way before then though, look for it to drop to 20 and be available like DQ8 with the release of virtual console on the Wii and playstation store doing PS1 downloads. i wouldn't worry about not every getting to play the game again, i'm sure somewheres along the road (read within the next 10 years) that it'll be released again, especially square games, they are really readily available, even FF7 even though it was fetching a lot of money it was availible for a long time after the PS1 died (i mean i was STILL seeing it in stores in 2004) and since the PS2 is still very very popular think of it of being the same kind of deal.. Okami will drop before next christmas same with VP 2 they'll at least be 29.99 new.
I picked up both during the TRU B2G1, gave me a pretty nice chunk off of both.
I almost got them at TRU, but was lucky enough to get VP2 at EB/GS during their B2G1 free. But I was impatient about Okami and did pick that one up at TRU, and then saw it the next day at EB/GS used.

Okami is worth every penny, the game is absolutely brilliant. I would not count on either one being a "greatest hit" title but they will see price drops most likely. Would bet more on Okami becoming a rare classic than VP2 though.

I don't see what all the fuss is about Okami. I thought it would blow my mind like Katamari Damancy did, but no it's just a decent adventure game. Since it's published by Capcom it definitely will go down to $20 eventually.

I definitely agree with you on that. It's the best action adventure game I've played in years. It's long, fun, innovative, and overall was one of the best games of the year. I got my copy for $30 with that Xbox live diamond gamestop thing, but I wouldn't have cared even if I had payed full price for it. It was worth every penny.

I dunno about the rest of you but both those games have become progressively harder to find around me...

I have only seen 1 or 2 copies of VP2 in the last 2 months or so. I have only seen around 2 stores with a few copies (1-2) of Okami in.

Dunno if this is a unique experiece but it really doesn't seem like many copies are in circulation for the games.

I was hoping to snag VP2 and Xenosaga 3 during one of the B2G1 free sales but I couldn't find both in the same location. I found VP2 and Xenosaga 3 at a GS but VP2 was missing the case and Xeno 3 didn't have the manual- so I said fuck it.

I think they'll all get cleared out... AFAIK, all three received a print sufficient to meet demand and then some.

I couldn't agree more. Hands down the game of the year for 2006 IMO.

This make no sense. First of all Xenosaga 1 and 2 both reach GH. The Best Buy cover version might be harder to find but the normal version should be common.
Remember VP2 is published by Square Enix and not Enix.

Not to turn this into an "Okami love" thread - but as others have agreed and a few (or was it just one?) seemed dubious, I feel like it needs stressing again, just how magical Okami is. It is one of the most beautiful games on the PS2, the art style and graphics are just mindblowing. And in my humble opinion, it is everything that Zelda Wind Waker wanted to be, but came short at. The game is its own world, and dazzling at that.

Its going to be one of those forgotten gems that was loved by critics and ignored by consumers along with Beyond Good and Evil, Psychonauts, etc in a few years... a shame too. Its so good it deserve to be played now.

That's true, but I really haven't followed how well III has sold. It doesn't seem to be the type of game to reach 'Greatest Hits' status, at least not without a lot of 'fudging' on the criteria.

A good point I hadn't thought about. Hell, I'm probably going to get them when they hit the $30 mark, just to be safe.

Well, my target has okami, so I'm hoping for the posibility of it being clearanced out at some point. They don't have VP2 though. I'm still hoping for a good deal on one of these games at BB, CC, or TRU. I'm going to get both eventually. If either hit $30 at BB, I'll be able to get the game $5 since I have a $20 gift card and a ggc coupon.

The one thing I need to do before getting VP2 is to beat the first Valkyrie Profile. I actually have a ps1 copy. I've been trying to get the best ending and have screwed up a few times.

I was tempted to pick up VP2 and okami during that TRU sale, but I couldn't justify spending that. I'm not working at the moment and I have to be more careful with my spending.
