Hey guys I was just wondering on your views of the current comic book / super hero stage we are in. Do you think beacuse of the sucsess of spidey and x-men that they are pushing comics to heavey now? What do you think?

I personly like these movies and Im all about sitting through a couple more x-men and spidermans as long as they do not become like the batman movies. I would rather not see another movie if it is going to ruin the franchise like the last couple batman movies did.

It just seem thst these type of movies are all thats coming out now. for example.

batman begins
blade 3
fantatic four
elextra
daredevil 2
punisher 2
ghost rider (nick cage!!!!!)
lobo
x- men 3
spider man 3
spiderman 4
another superman is in the works (nick cage????? rumored)
iron man ( tom cruise)
hulk 2

I wouldn't mind a couple of these. like spidey x-men and maybe maybe another punisher( hey i liked one) I don't see another hulk, daredevil, fantastic four, or superman and batman being any good. Any thoughts? Or comice that you would like too see?

they do need to chill out a bit, but I didn't know an iron man movie was coming out - way cool!

now if only they will make a dr. strange movie...

Yeah last I heard its supposed to be tom Cruize. DOn't know about that one but he would make a cool tony stark looks kinda like him.

I could not pull up plans for Daredevil 2, Hulk 2, Lobo, or Iron Man. Elektra will bomb next month (January). There's not another Superman in the works, and X3 doesn't even have a director, so we're a ways off.

That said, that knocks your list down to Batman Begins, Blade 3, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, and Spiderman 3, 4 (as well as 5, 6, and 7, since the director signed on for seven, apparently). Spider-Man 3, unless it introduces Venom, will be viewed as the same repetitive crap. The others should be spaced out enough to where it won't matter.. I also see no plans for Punisher 2. Cage in Ghost Rider, which isn't coming out until 2006, should be great. I think the rest will fail. I see plans for a Batman vs Superman movie, which will star Jude Law and Collin Ferrel, and will probably suck. Hard.

Also, what's up with sequels? Harrison Ford talked Indiana Jones 4, and I'm seeing plans for Fast and the Furious 3, Freddy vs. Jason 2, Hellboy 2, Independance Day 2, Mrs. Doubtfire 2, Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3, Shrek 3 (and 4), Toy Story 3 (yay!) and XXX2. What kinda crap is that!?

I'm also seeing plans for Old School 2 with a tentative date of Oct. 2005 starring Luke Wilson, Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn, though I can't pull up any more information on it.

There's also a Wonder Woman movie that's scheduled for May 05, but nothing else has been announced, so that may have been axed.

Tony Stark better be drunk off his ass for at least half the movie :)

Bah! There are plenty of other villians besides Venom that could make great movies. First they've got to bring in Harry as the gobbie 2 sub-plot, then they should do the Kingpin in the next movie.

Yep, They'll just take the lame "saving an astronaut" cop-out they did in the animated series to introduce Venom... No movie maker seems to want to touch any of the major story archs in any of these comic movies (Pheonix/Dark Pheonix in Xmen, Secret Wars to introduce the symbiotic costume to Spiderman)
Hey Scorch, say "plans" one more time. Please?
Plans. Plans plans plans. I'm planning to say plans again. Plans.

Batman Begins, Spiderman 3/whatever, Ghost Rider, Indiana Jones 4, POTC 2 & 3, Mrs Doubtfire 2, and Independence Day 2 should all own IMO. And I've yet to see the first punisher so I can't say.

Also, I might be wrong but isn't sin city based off a comic book or something?

Superman has already been cast as a soap opera actor. A new guy like Reeves. Footage/ costumes/ sets for FF4 look interesting. A Silver Surfer movie is in the works and Chris Columbus is slated to direct The Sub Mariner

Superman has been in the works for quite a while. It has Brian Singer as director.

Punisher 2 was recently announced. It didn't have a good run in theaters, but DVD sales have been huge (no clue why) so they are making another.

I'm not comiced out but I see anime EVERYWHERE nowadays.
There was a great article at the Washington Post about it.

"To be sure, the surfacing of mature themes in anime has sparked international criticism of anime's global reach, leading to censorship on some Japanese-imported animation in numerous countries, including the United States. Such themes are driving up the average age of cartoon fans. For instance, the Cartoon Network's late-night "Adult Swim" segment -- which heavily features Japanese anime -- is now the most watched cable block in its time slot for men between 18 and 34, beating out Jon Stewart's "Daily Show," "The Tonight Show" and "Late Show With David Letterman."

Anime has made HUGE strides indeed to get where it is at globally. To me the comic industry is back tracking. Look at Marvels revamps of the X-men,X-force,Cable/deadpool etc. It's like back in the days when we had X-men gold/blue and 10 other X books. Many other industry big timers are also back tracking and going back to the well. Looking at titles like FF,Spiderman,Avengers. It was also a shame to see a company like crossgen doing so badly now. They came out of the gate causing quite a stir only to go the way of Valiant. Thank God for Independents indeed!
You know what I'm really sick of? Anything that deals with the matrix.
Fortunately that theme is on life support. The only people still paying attention are the fanboys.

the best comic book movies are yet to come
there is a reason why everything coming out has a comic background these days
think of it as a pre written script
and look out for Constantine and Sin City early 2005 they will b da shit

im with hockey on this.. they are over doing it. But again... this is big bucks for ppl. everyone thinks that all comic book movies are gonna hit big like spider man.

o well

Spider-Man 3 will not have Venom. 5 will, 4 if we're lucky.

The funny thing is that if Venom or Carnage appear in the actual comic book, it's viewed as the same repetitive crap.

I like these movies but come on. Why so many at once. I did forget about sub mariner I did get most of my info from commingsoon.net and superherohype. you can check them to see more info. I think the sequals would be neat though. ID$ 2 and xxx 2 might be cool. Donm't know about miss doubfire though.

Allot of these arent offical yet but have scrpits in the works and such. Most just have the websites registired though. Make a web site for a movie then the movie must be comming out right? Spidy 3 & 4 I think will go like this

Possible spoilers if you haven't seen spidey 2 yet

Lizzard will be the main character

While spidey is trying to save him hobb goblin come and gets aunt may and kills her

leading too number 4 where spidey kills harry and goes crazy those the change to the back outfit. Then leads to venom. Rhino and vulture will make small roles as just petty thieves in either one.

The problem with your synopsis is that Dunst, Maguire, and even Raimi, to a certain extent, have expressed interest in this being a trilogy for now. Most likely, all story lines that have been started in the last two films will be resolved in the Spiderman 3 in 2007 which is actually in scripting phase but already officially announced and contracted with the cast and crew. The lizard seems like a very unlikely candidate also. Raimi wants to go with a new story arc that shows Peter going through a different struggle. If Spiderman went against the Lizard it would likely involve furthur school/life/superhero juggling angst that was already done in Spiderman 2.

As you can probably tell, I am definately NOT super-heroed out. :D

When they do venom in the movies I'm kinda sure they will do something like they did in the 90's cartoon. But I wouldn't mind that as long as they show a space shuttle smash into the brooklin bridge like cartoon did.

the basic rough draft doe spiderman 3, NO ONE outside of Rami and maybe Avi Arad knows the slightest about what villian will actually be in the film. There has been a small casting call for a black cat, though, so there will be at least something added to the story. Also, FYI, marvel has plans for no less than 6 spidey films...as for who actually acts/directs, they arnt sure at the moment.

Sin City looks to be the most interesting of the bunch, not just art wise, but the cast and director's (Robert Rodreguiz and Quentin Tarentino) should make it even better than it could be.

Kingpin is part of the daredevil license now, sorry.

Some of those movies like X-Men 3, Spidey 3 and 4, ghost rider, and ironman are pretty far off though. In fact none of them even have a script yet. The closest would probably be X-Men 3 and all I can say about that is... hurry up!

Ill bet that the Green Goblin 2 will be a villian in the next one. :)
Having the Black Cat in Spidey 3 would be pretty cool. I liked it that they put her in the game.
Having 6 Spider-Man films would be really cool. It would be fun to watch them all in a row.
