Any reason to not trade in your Gamecube for the Wii?

Haven't ventured into this subforum much, and didn't see this thread topic mentioned. If so, whoops.

Basically, since EB is having its $20 more trade credit deal on consoles now, im thinking why shouldn't I trade in my cube for the $50 credit towards a Wii?
Is there any reason not to do so? I can think of the following pros/cons. Any additions to them i should consider? Thanks. :)

PROS

-$50 off the Wii ($45 now)
-Games will work
-Memory cards with save data seem to still work

CONS

-Is everything backwards compatible? I have Donkey Kongas I want to be able to play later....

I'm not sure what your trying to say , but the Wii has Gamecube Memory Card Slots and I think it's 100% fully Backwards Compatiable. I am in the same situation as you though no idea if I want to sell it now. I may put it on ebay , cause I'm not trading in my controllers or memory cards cause they can be used on the Wii.

I wasn't aware the Wii had GC memory card slots. One more reason to get rid of it then.

If you don't have the Gameboy player (#1 reason why my Cube stays with me) and aren't worried about launch glitches, you probably won't get a better deal.

I still plan on getting a GBPlayer and broadband adapter on the cheap someday just to fully trick out the cube. So much power!

I have to disagree.

That's one of the more disappointing hardware add-ons.

Not as good a deal there.

The graphics (due to display) and sound are bad. Given it's a GBA game... I'd rather play it on the GBA / DS, or what have you -- it looks better, it sounds better and I don't get the point of playing it on the television.

I thought it looked and sounded fine. And the reason why I play them on TV is because it's much easier to get into a comfortable position with a controller then it is for a GBA/DS.

Here is a picture of the Wii Top for gamecube accessories.

Exactly. And personally, I hate playing games on those tiny little screens. I didn't really start getting a lot of GBA games until the GB Player was released.

Just make sure you get the high def output.

I have a gamecube with high def output but I'm not paying a ridiculous cost for the component cable so I'm going to get rid of this beast.

A reason not mentioned to save the gamecube, is if you plan on still playing cube games a lot, it will save some stress on the Wii's hardware. I'm sure the drive will be durable, but inserting and ejecting games over and over, especially when it has to account for different disc sizes, is bound to create some sort of wear. Using your cube for cube games could extend the life of the Wii.

50 is alot for a undesireable system like the gamecube. I'm glad to get rid of it at that price. The retail is $100 already.
I can only get $50 for it? This makes me...sad.
That's actually pretty good considering GS sells them for $59.99 used.

I thought the retail was $79.99

At any rate, how much longer is the $20 bonus for a console tradein deal going on for? I just boxed up my GC/GB Player for trade in.

It's retailing for $100 new, $60 used. At for the trade-in deal, it ends on Nov. 5.

She's hot.

1) You don't want to pay $250 for a Wii
2) You aren't currently interested in any Wii games
3) You don't want to trade in your GCN for the amount they offer you

Definitely sell it for 50 bucks... up here you can get a bundle with a new game and another players choice title for about 110 Canadian... ya get rid of it and if you ever want it back, it'll be the same price if not cheaper and brand new.

But thats only if you're getting a Wii...of course

I kinda like the idea of having a spare GC around. Never know when it might come in handy. The small possibility that I might get some use out of it is worth more to me than the pittance I'd get for trading it in.

That's the same reason I keep an old PS1 around. Right now it's hooked up to a spare monitor I've got right next to my bed. I could sell it and get what... 5-10 bucks for it? Not worth it IMO, I'd much rather keep it around.
