I found out I may be getting orders to a base in that area. Is the area nice? What do houses and apartments go for in that area?

AHAHAHAHHA tucson sucks
but I suppose there are worse bases to be stationed at then that area.
Its not bad if you like small towns and not much to do but get a nice tan.
The upside is that Phoenix is about 1.5 hours away so you can always come back to civilization whenever you want some shopping or something.
Not that there is anything fun to do in Phoenix ;P
But it is a college town so you get half decent music and plenty of drinking - which we all know is the army's official freetime waster.

Theres a booming housing market there right now... I think Tucson has a Ted's Hot Dogs too ( or maybe its a Santora's Pizza... good Buffalo restaurants). That whole area is really nice, not humid at all. Goodluck!

Tucson used to be nice, now it's just kinda ghetto. I really hate Tucson. I used to live in Phoenix and my work made me go down to Tuscon once a month or so. Actually, I used to call on the air base down there. The cost of living is about the same in Tucson as it is in Phoenix, meaning, pretty expensive apartments and so on.

I'm betting even if Tucson is ghetto that it looks better than Louisiana. This place is always grungy and has a stink to it. my other choices are South Carolina and North Carolina so I think AZ will be ok

haha not much of a choice, try for luke afb if your air force, its right on the edge of phoenix and you have access to everything, but out of your choices, its a toss up.
Pope/ft. bragg area sucks, i use to live there and ther was absolutley nothing to do. Idiots live in fayetteville also. I would imagine s. carolina is just as bad, small town nothing to do. At last with tucson, you are close to stuff and the weather is better and the people arent as lame as they are in the south.
The lesser of all 3 evils, I guess tucson is the least horrible.

I have family in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Arizona whom I get to visit. Trust me, Arizona is much better. The few areas in North and South Carolina that I would want to live in are the beach areas, but even those aren't that great. Plus I'm pretty sure all those Florida hurricanes are bound to mess up the Carolina weather quite a bit.

The only thing in Tuscon, AZ is the UofA.... and desert. My friend got propositioned by a hooker's pimp. I guess that's cool.

I'm in Tucson, and I dare say I like my home town. The activity is pretty centralized to the downtown area, but there's always live music and theater going on. 'Course I'm biased since I work in theater here, but still...

I'm sure this will be of great help to jlarlee.

Good thing you got here in time.

I was just out in Tucson visiting someone a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was pretty nice. There was a lot more to do there for me then there is in the area I live at in Richmond,VA. I am actually planning on moving out to Tucson in around a year or so and I don't think it is nearly as bad as a lot of the people here are making it out to be. Then again, this was only for a little over a week and I barely touched Phoenix other then driving through it for the most part.

Tuscon is Mexico. If you have a choice, choose northern AZ places.....like Sedona or Flagstaff.....or pray to the gods they station you on Mill Ave.

I grew up in Oro Valley, AZ which is near Tucson. I've lived all around the country, and Oro Valley is by far my favorite place.
