I'm getting ready to review a few games and blu-rays on my PS3 and I want to know if it's possible to take screenshots somehow? I know with games it's usually dependent on if the developer built it into the game, but is there at least an option for movies?
Any way to take screenshots on PS3?

I dont know of one, but Ive never really looked. You are correct about it being built into some games at the devs discretion.
If Im not mistaken, I think most reviewers use some kind of capture card and route the PS3s video output through their computer. Way back when, I used to review 16bit games and that was how I got shots.

Seriously though, If you really want to use that feature, buy a cheap capture card such as easycap.
It's only 12-13 dollars and it's pretty much your only option, since the PS3 doesn't have any plugins or options to take screenshots.

I'd like to be able to capture screens in HD (1920x1080)...

If you have a capable computer, it'd be cheaper to just get a Blu-ray drive and do screenshots from the PC.
