I saw an ad for it; essentially it's an open-source Linux portable device that runs a full gamut of emulators, allows for people to create and play their own games, and plays DivX movies, mp3s, e-books, etc. etc. etc. It uses SD memory cards. It seems to be selling for $150-200.... at first I thought it was intriguing, but then I thought "Can't I get a used PSP for the same price and load virtually all of the GP2X's capabilities onto a memory card, plus have online capabilities?" Anybody with thoughts or experiences to share?

Unless you're into developing your own games, PSP is probably the better way to go if you don't mind using expensive memory sticks instead of dirt-cheap SD cards, and dealing with the constant firmware upgrades.

The PSP uses Sony's proprietary OS, and Linux will always be easier to develop for - even allowing cross-platform compatibility - but the sheer number of PSP owners to GP2X owners all but guarantees a larger homebrew scene.
