So, my desk is about to bite it. I've had it for a while, and it's time to get something better/newer/with more area. I'm looking for a decent sized desk though, not just four legs and a surface. Maybe one of those taller corner desks with a couple cabinets on the top, or a long desk with drawers or something. I'd prefer something that I can keep my PC out of a closed-in space, as I have a side and top fan on my case for cooling (gotta have the airflow). Any ideas? I was hoping maybe some K-Mart/Target/other department store working CAG's would know of some markdowns. I'd get a nicer desk at a furniture store, but I'm planning on moving twice over the next 2 years (which means one of the cheaper put together yourself desks is my best option). I'd vie for an online option, but shipping is steep with something of this weight.

I was in Office Depot today shipping a package and they had LOTS of computer desks and furniture on clearance. Might be YMMV but it's worth a look if you are near one..... Also try Staples for clearance stock and search FW where they are aways finding these dirt cheap.

I'd say check Craigslist if you have one for where you live. You can probably get a ridiculously good deal on something like this, I see computer desks listed all the time that I would get if I didn't have one.

I recommend the brand Sauder if you're looking for something from a Wal-Mart. They're overral pretty cheap (price wise), good quality, and usually pretty easy to assemble. They also sell this brand at other stores like Office Depot.

I had a walmart desk in my apartment the last two years. Cost me $50 and worked great. And since it's so cheap you just throw it out or give it away when you're done with it.

The fatboys claim that target has a desk set on clearance at most stores. PM'd the link as I'm unsure about policies linking to them.

I checked Craiglist for my area (Montgomery AL), and the only things on it are scams and personal ads (which are hillarious by the way, check them out if you want!). Thanks for the info guys.. my Target was out of the $22 desks, and I'm going to check Office Depot tonight to see if any are on clearance.

Have you looked into the Ikea Jerker or Galant? Both of those you assemble yourself and are very customizable. I have the Jerker and it's an awesome desk and incredibly sturdy. They have two versions of the Jerker by the way, the regular table (very long) and a computer desk which has shelves and it's curved in the front.
