Anybody tried this or something like it? Movie player GBA SP

Thanks for the link to Lik-Sang! It looks cool and I was thinking about getting my daughter a portable DVD player. This is cheaper even after the memory and infinitely cooler since it works with her GBA SP and mine (LOL).
how is the quality of it?
Pretty good picture quality, the audio can be bad sometimes, but it's mostly pretty good.

somebody might be looking for this

* 960 minutes on a 1GB Compact Flash
* 480 minutes on a 512MB Compact Flash
* 240 minutes on a 256MB Compact Flash
* 120 minutes on a 128MB Compact Flash

:wink:

Not quite sure how this would be illegal...I mean, sure you COULD play pirated movies on it, just as you can play pirated games on a computer...but owning a computer isn't illegal, now is it?

That's for music, not movies. A 128 card could probably hold 40-60 minutes of a movie.

i didn't say it was for movies....

anyways i plan on getting this for chirstmas :wink:

This just arrived from lik-sang yesterday, but I don't yet have a CF card to test it out. It's not illegal, though you can apparently use it to play some smaller NES ROMs. I got it to store new videos for my daughter to watch on the go, I'm getting real tired of having to listen to those same two Dora episodes.

Have you used it yet and how do the movies look?

I ordered mine yesterday. You can Download the software from lik-sang to see what converted movies look like. It's not that bad on my monitor and I hear the video looks even better on a DS then a SP.

The cheapest shipping from lik-sang take up to 2 weeks. So I'm going to be waiting for some time but I don't mind. That gives me time to convert movies, buy a flash card and buy a DS.

I got it in the mail today. I have some pics I want to show, but I can't upload to the gallery right now. CheapyD is looking into why I can't upload pictures.

But I like it, it's worth the 30 bucks (shipped). The Nes games rock, and the movies are awsome. The audio play back is ok, but it's just a bounus on top of the movies and games.

I'm using the newest hack of Pocketnes I found on a GBA movie player Web site. And its not that hard to find movies to DL in the GBA movie player format. You just have to go around to the GBA movie player fourums and they have links to links.

And I'm using it on a first gen GBA, from what I hear the thing is even better on a DS.

I just got a DS and used my Movie player advance on it and it's freaking awsome. If you own a DS you must buy one of these. Getting movies is as easy as doing a google search.

The audio play back & Video Images on a DS are so much better then on a regular GBA.

I understand that this is an intersting accesory, but straight-up, is it worth it? Nintendo has a new liscenced device called the Play-Yan coming out soon that could be better or might not be. So, is it really worth it?

Nintendo's player can't play NES or Gameboy roms, can it? Nintendo's is proabably gonna be more expensive too.

alright BoB. thanks, i've been looking at this device since i saw it in game informer a few months back but they didn't really review it so i wasn't sure how good it really was. But obviously it is a pretty good accessory

karmapolice620-

thats a good question cause in the description it says that it comes with windows software. maybe you should e-mail lik-sang or play-asia asking them that same question. maybe you could also start a topic about this on CAG so that people that might have the answer to this question will answer you directly.

Wow... thank you stag8603...that has to be one of the most polite replies ive seen in a long time. Welcome to CAG and I will email lik-sang and post what they reply with.
do you have to buy a seoerate card aslo, or does it come with one.?
Yes you have to buy one, but they're pretty cheap now days.

When you convert a file, what type of file does it convert to. And what kinds of different files does it support.

I'd look it up myself, but I can't get to Lik-Sang at work.

It splits files to .GBM and .GBS. About the only thing it doesn't support are MIDI files, but you can easily find a midi to mp3 converter on google.

I also bet the Nintendo one won't work with E-Books. You can find alot of E-books if your willing to do some searching. And I'm talking NY times best sellers. Also there hasn't been any proof the Nintendo version will hit the states.

For only 30 bucks the thing is a steal, sure a mem card is more but you can find good deals on those if you look around.
