Anyone actually get carded when buying a game?

i got carded at Target once when i was buying Rainbow Six 3....besides that no, everyone thinks im 5 years older than i actually a(i'm 20)

I was not carded when I brought GTA III (I was 15) at EB about 5 years ago, but when I brought GTA:VC (I was 17), I was carded at the same place. It's just probably all procedures for them, so I'm glad to show them my ID.

For those who get carded when though they look older than 18, did you use a credit card for your purchase? It's not too suprising then if they card you.

i get carded everytime i buy M rated games. never get carded on DVDs. when i bought my GTA:SA, she scanned the game and then the message popped up on the screen saying this is a M rated game. I think it says that she must ask that person for ID.

EDIT: it was at Best Buy

I have only been carded a few times and they were at Target, Toys R Us, and KB Toys. I laugh because I have had facial hair since the age of eleven and been able to buy many other things that I wasn't old enough for since that age without being carded.

I had to card someone who wanted buy a can of air to clean out his ps2; I felt so stupid. The guy was 16 so my boss wouldn't let him buy it.

i have been carded twice at target, buying gungrave ans silent hill 2
i have been carded for every rated r movie in the past 5 years
i've been carded buying alcohol...

funny since i'n 28 and have never been carded for anything until i hit 23....

one time I was carded well buying a game, but I had no ID so shw wouldn't let me buy it. But the Funny part of my story is after I failed to buy my game, the lady carded my friend when he was buying a windshild wiper blade, and some mirror adhesive.

I've never been carded, but a friend of mine was when he bought Mortal Kombat for the genesis back in like 2001 at Gamestop. I thought it was pretty funny.

I mostly buy all my games at work, so I don't need to be carded. But when I do wander over to other places, I haven't been asked because of M-rated games. I have been asked for ID verification because of my credit/debit card, though. That makes me happy. Does make me feel slightly irrate that other places don't much care enough to card me. I don't look "over 20" at all, even if I am going to be 21 in a few months.

Then again, I never had much money before I was 18. *shrug*

On the other-hand though, I always card people that appear to be in that 27 & younger age frame that want to buy M-rated games from my store.

I got carded one time at TRU when I was 16. I forget what games I was buying but they were rated M. I just showed my ID and got the games even though I wasn't 17. (I'm 19 now).

Got carded today at Kmart buying a few games, Shadow of Rome, Killer 7 and a few others. I am 26 but I think this is the first time I have been carded for a game.
Off topic: Do you know you have to be 18 to buy WD-40 at Walmart? I didnt until a few days ago.
When I was around 27 I got carded at walmart for buying fuel injector cleaner. I'm now 31 and about a month ago I got carded there for buyin super-glue.

Really? I bought some fuel injector cleaner a few months ago at Walmart and was never carded.

If their is a reason to get cared for anything. I will get carded. In video games it has happened a few times. Two I remeber the most.

TRU- Maxen x for the DC.
BB- spawn for the ps2 this one pisses me off the most.

The lady rings me out tells me my total then says I need id. No fuck that sale is over. I couldn't cause I did not have it on me, I was 19 at the time. So I had to go get my mom make her come in the store and buy the game for me. When I got back in the store with my mom. Their was 3 other cashiers and a managar. Standing around ID girl. I guess they thought they stopped the bigggest crime in all of history. Then my mom comes up to them and says, I would like to buy that spawn game. Okat ma'am $10.74 yes all this for a clearance game. Then I get home and find that its a POS a decent game but to buggy and clunky to be anything above a 4 out of 10.
Ok, tonight I had something funny happen to me.
I was at TRU buying a game...and got carded! Guy insisted on seeing my i.d. before selling me my game (rated M, he wanted to make sure I was "over 17").
By the way, I'm almost 30 years old. LMAO, i've never been carded for a game in my entire life, so this struck me as particularly funny. (Not that I'm against people being carded for buying certain games...but c'mon...i'm not a teenager).
Sounds EXACTLY what happened to me when I bought Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. The guy carded me too, and thought I WAS at least 16, or 17, and like you I am 30 years old. Also like you, I've NEVER been carded for buying a game.

When I was 16 I was buying a game and the cashier said, "Check ID.... hmmmmm... You look over 17." So I just handed over the cash and walked out.

'Course... After I turned 18 I was getting carded for M Games. :whistle2:s

You know, last night at work I realized something funnier.

I recently got a job at a public library. (I could probably start another thread on this subject, but I'll hold that for another time).

Today I discovered something rather...interesting...about public libraries in Nevada. They do not censor ANYTHING. Underage children can check out porn, and look at porn on the public computers, all for free. Naughty anime and manga books are shelved in the children/junior's section of the library. So, they don't card you at my library to check out pornographic materials.

I find it both hilarious and disturbing at the same time, that I (along with everyone else) never get carded for checking out adult materials at the library, but get carded for buying a mature rated game at TRU. O_O

I've only been carded twice:

-In March 2004 at a GameStop, buying a used copy of Bloodrayne for the Gamecube.
-In September at a Best Buy, buying GTA Advance on clearance. Notably, it was the same one I bought San Andreas at the week it came out, and I wasn't carded then.

(btw, I'm 23)

Once, on my 18th birthday, strangely enough. I went to see some movie at the time, it was rated R.. got carded. Never been carded for M rated games or anything else, but this old lady carded me for the movie. She looked pissed when she realized that I was 18 today, she acted like she wanted to stop the world's biggest crime or something. She mumbled a "happy birthday" and sold me my ticket.

I always get carded every time I buy an M rated game at TRU. I'm 16, so I have to get a parent to come up to the register. This never happens when I buy games at Gamestop, EB, or anywhere else (except Wal-Mart).

Just the other night, when I was buying a few clearance games at TRU, 3 of them were rated M. The cashier asked me for ID, and I told her I didn't have any. She asked how old I was, and I said 16 (yeah, I should have said I was older). So she asks another employee how old you have to be to buy M rated games. He says 17, but he told her to just give them to me because they were closing in 5 minutes. The lady refused, and said I needed a parent. So I had to go get my mom who was sitting in the car outside, and get her to buy me the games.

I could buy M, MA17, hentai etc. before I was 17 or 18 without hassle. It wasn't until years later, this year in fact, that I've been getting carded. I rarely get carded in my home state, got carded once (for a strategy guide no less) in ontario, but every freakin time I buy an M game in new hampshire I get carded.

Oh man.. I can't believe it happened to me again!
When I picked up Rise of the Kasai at Best Buy during the after Christmas sale. I got carded. So, I guess it's not just Wal-Mart. :D

I only got carded once when I was 18, at EBgames and I was buying GTAIII. I guess that could be expected though. Other than that never for games.

I always, always get carded for rated R movies. I remember my boyfriend and I (I think he was 21 and I was 20 at the time) went to see Farenheight 9/11 (a documentary of all things) and they let everybody in (even some kids who were obviously under 17 and being loud and annoying), and they grabbed us and made a big deal about showing our IDs to them. No idea why we stuck out. I also almost got kicked out of Frida (yes, SERIOUSLY) for being underage. I think I was 19 or so.

Ironically, the last two times I bought alcohol, I didn't get carded (I'm 21 now). :D

Add me to the "24-year-olds getting carded at TRU" club. I got carded the last time I was there because I bought Doom 3, DOA:U, and Area 51 during the big clearance. People always think I'm like 18 though, so I'm used to it.

I can't remember if I got carded at a different TRU for RE:4 though. It's very possible that I didn't. The employees there were all young and talkative and they were begging to see the clearance list that I had printed from CAG, lol. Maybe in all the excitement they just forgot, or maybe it's like a fellow gamer comraderie thing. Meanwhile, the employee at the other TRU that definitely DID card me was an older woman. Ha ha, she even acted all suspicious after I showed her my driver's license ("you don't LOOK twenty-four!").

I not only got carded at Walmart for buying the Jackass box set, but after I showed the cashier my military ID, she hits no on the cash register and sets it aside. So needless to say I was pretty angry and went off on her for a good five minutes telling her no wonder she worked at Walmart, she can't tell do the fucking addition to figure out how old I am if my card says 1985, and you can't even join the military until you're 17, so she better ring up the goddamn game before I get her supervisor. Needless to say I overreacted, but she was being a real bitch.

Whn I bought True Crime: NYC today at Best Buy, I didn't get carded, but the girl that rang up the game mentioned that it was a really popular game, and theres been a ton of kids she couldnt sell it to because they were underaged. Only time I've been carded was when I picked up the Nightmare on Elm Street box set at walmart a few years back.

EBGames refused to sell me Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory the week it came out. I'm currently 15 and that's the age I was when this happened. I went out to my mom in the car, and she didn't wanna go in cuz she was too tired and it was at night. So I forgot about it. That weekend I went to my mall with some friends and bought the game no questions asked at a different EB. That is the only game anyone refused to sell to me because I'm not 18. I've bought plenty of M rated games no problem.

Man, I always get carded, and I'm 20 years old; even at the movie theaters! It's kind of annoying, but at least I age slowly.
