Anyone bought the US 20th Anniversary Game Boy Micro yet?

Bebop: The price of Micros at GSes around here is 89.99 for the time being. They've got signs up all over the place and there's no mention that it does/does not include the 20th version. So it should have been that price regardless. Plus the coupon clearly says "games" and doesn't mention systems. I can see where an employee would make that mistake but ehh. The receipt would say "used coupon" instead of "New Micro Sys," right? At least I would think so...

Anyway, good news. I found a nice GS employee.

Went back to the GS and there was a girl working there. I think she was the one I opened up my More card with, and she gave me some freebies one time (preorder stuff in my tradelist). Explained to her what had happened. She opened up the box and couldn't find it either. (She also took out the Micro and said "I just had to see it" and smiled and giggled, heh.) Anyway she said she'd take care of it and asked me if I knew which game I'd get with it. I said FFIV, which releases on the 12th. She said to just come back on the 14th when she'd be working again and that she'd take care of it. So I pre-ordered the game and I'll go back on Wednesday to finish it off. Her tag said she was a manager so I guess it's something she can handle. She also said she wouldn't leave it to the guys working because they'd screw it up.

So all in all, I guess no harm done. Irritating to say the least and people confirming it was indeed the sticker made me unhappy, but I guess it worked out.

Additionally, she asked me for my e-mail address and said she'd forward her monthly 10% off coupons to me. So here's hoping to that. :) Maybe I'll put them up for contests on here or something occassionally if she continues to do that. Time will tell!

I will note that other 20th Anniv. boxes in the glass case did *not* have the red sticker, which we (gf and I) noticed immediately. Also the e-mail from Nintendo threw me off gaurd. I'm going to e-mail that person back and say it is taken care of.

P.S. No magazine racks were hurt during said events. Everything else you hear is a LIE. A DAMN DIRTY LIE FROM DAMN DIRTY LIARS.

$89.99? Lucky.

I preordered it from Gamestop.com and price shows $99.99. Oh well, no tax and free shipping.

Just received mine.

UPS smashed the crap out of it. The box is all creased and crushed and dented all around.

This stinks! They sent it in an envelope, the fools. Contacting Gamestop for replacement...
so is there anyone willing to post some pics of their NA version of the 20th anniv. micro?
You buy me one and I'll gladly post pictures.

Argh, now that I've read this post and seen the beauty and fantasized about the $10 off coupon I MUST resist the temptation. Argh, gotta pick up FFIV too :(

Should I just eBay my BF SP?

The game is Harvest Moon : FOMT and the faceplate sadly is plastic. The micro is all metal though so it has a very nice and hefty feel to it regardless of the size. It’s a very solidly built machine. It’s build feels better than the SP and DS.

The only thing I'm afraid of is accidentally scratching the faceplate since they don't sell replacements of the 20th anniversary faceplate online. The faceplate does come off though and is removable so I'm guessing that it is replaceable. I just don’t have another faceplate to try it with.

The screen is very nice. The picture I took was at the lowest brightness setting. It goes a few shades higher and is very easy on the eyes indoors/outdoors/bright/pitch-black. I can’t compare it to the brighter SP since my SP is the older model.
Why eBay? are they selling for a lot? Are these already sold out or something?
In a few years, eBay will be the only source of these. I'd suspect them to go between 150-200 at best. Not a great investment, but meh.

Shit, I'm buying one to use and beat the snot out of. Of course I'll take care of it, but keeping because it will be worth more in years is dumb. I want a micro and this is the coolest one imo.

You could do the same thing for just about everything ever made now. Buy it, save it, put it on the bay. Make back more then you bought it for because it is no longer made.

If you want to leave the cover "just for show", dont forget you can buy a silver or black faceplate from store.nintendo.com along with the ejector tool.

Does anyone know if Walmart will get these in? I know Bestbuy has them in their ad for next week. I have some wally world gift cards that I'd like to use for this.
the thing that sucks about it is that u cant change faceplates. is this true?
From what ive read, you can change faceplates, but you do not get other faceplates or the little tool in the box.

What is the little tool if I may ask? I played w/ the silver micro we got a my GS and the faceplate just pops off.

If you go to the Nintendo online store and click on the faceplates it says:
The Famicom Faceplate will begin shipping on or after January 2, 2006.
Sweet! Now I can get an extra faceplate to get all beat up and scratched!
