Anyone catch ANCHORWOMAN last night?

MrGranger

CAGiversary!
I thought it was an OFFICE knockoff at first. It has the same humor...but when I found out that it's a reality show, damn! How do they get the crickets to chirp like that.
It looked like it would be stupid, but if you like the Office I recommend checking out ANCHORWOMAN when it's on again.

Fox executives are idiots. I haven't watch the show so I can't attest to the quality but it seems so stupid just to cancel it after a single episode. It's bad enough that they bank roll all these crappy shows to begin with the least they could do is stand by them.

DCfox is right. It seems like a huge waste of money.

My favorite is if you have seen the schedule for Fox between yesterday and the primere week, the show wa sonly going to be shown twice. So Fox didn't really care about it from the beginning.
wow, low ratings for a new show on a wednesday night in the summer...
Having a third of the audience of a 'popular' shows finale doesnt sound too bad to me.

That news chick is pretty hot too =]

remember....this is the same stupid network that canceled Arrested Development. That was the end all and tell all of the intelligence of that stupid network.

And Firefly.

Too bad really, it was strangely funny. I thought I would hate it but was thankful for accidentally clicking on it. Hopefully they release a DVD of the rest. I think they've said they'll post them on the internet but postage stamp vids aren't the same.

Well, to be honest, the show pulled in better ratings than her former employer(WWE) is having right now. Still, it seemed like a bad idea from the start.

I watched about 10 minutes of it, I just couldn't get into it... plus there was some Bioshock that needed to be played.

AD deserved to get canceled.

Fox gave that show three seasons which was 2.5 seasons more than it should have gotten. The ratings sucked and it cost a lot of money to make. So why would Fox, which is strangely in the bussiness to make money, continue a show for years and years that was costing them money?

They gave the show three seasons to get an aduince, it didn't happen, they rightfully canceled it.

Firefly on the other hand was treated like shit before they even finished filming most of the episodes.

Moving it around a lot, pre-empting it, and not marketing it probably didn't help with the ratings.... Even a die-hard fan like me had a hard time knowing when it was actually on.

King of the Hill?

The show has definitely been able to stand the test of time, despite getting fucked over repeatidly.

Which is weird because I don't know (and have never known) anyone who actually watches it regularly. That one boggles my mind.
It must be really cheap to make.

That show is still on?

I guess it still hasn't occurred to TV executives that it's this kind of short-sightedness that contributes to low ratings.

Every time they cancel a show after an episode or a few episodes, it encourages people to simply not bother with new shows. Why not wait until it lasts a season and catch it in reruns or on DVD?

I get that they have to cut their losses at some point, and put on shows that will generate revenue for them. But punishing the segment of audience that actually turns up for new shows seems to be a stupid way of doing that.

Score another one for Fox, in this case too. I actually saw commercials for Anchorwoman, and I had no idea it was a reality show. I thought it was a sitcom. Not that it would have influenced my decision to not watch it, but how can they honestly think the show got a fair shot if a good number of people had no idea what kind of show it really was, and now never will?

Futurama. A better show that stood the test of time on another network that isn't Fox becuase of the Fox screwing it over repeatedly. I have no idea why they are still airing King of The Hill. The show isn't terrible, but it's just not funny at all most of the time. I can watch the show and like it, but it's so hard to even find a point of the show.

Also, supposedly Anchorwoman did a 1.0 in the 18-49 audience. WWE doys much better than that.

How did people not know Anchorwoman was a reality show? It seemed pretty obvious to me, I just didn't really have any interest in watching it until I found out the day after it aired that it was filmed in Tyler, Tx. I had planned on watching the next episode but I guess that isn't going to happen now.

This show has already been pulled. I'm pretty sure that everyone aware of this show prior to it's one time showing knew it wouldn't last.

Just like The Simpsons.

Near the end they tried their damnest to get people to watch it.

I can't remember how many times I saw that "I'll give Carmen Electra my Emmy if you watch this show" commerical.
That show is still on?
It's not only still on, it has just been renewed for it's twelfth season.

- edit Apparently the season 11 opener drew in around 7.2 million viewers.

Exactly.King of the Hill is just like the Simpsons. Precisely. You hit it on the head. A+ for you. Way to go.

New simpsons episodes can atleast make me chuckle once an episode on the regular. King of the Hill hasn't really been able to do that since day one. And I do think that the simpsons should be cancelled.

King of the Hill is awesome. That show almost always makes me laugh. The ZZ Top episode from last year was one of the funniest episodes of that show ever, which shows that unlike the Simpsons KOTH can still be funny.

I've never found King of the Hill to be even remotely funny. Every character is ugly, stupid, and thoroughly uninteresting.

"Oh noes I got propane in my urethra"

Simpsons really isn't that funny anymore but you can at least expect a few lolworthy moments per episode.

FOX put it against competition called Monday Night Football. You have to be fucking kidding me if FOX is going to steal viewers form MNF. That will never happen. Viacom has a lock monday night. FOX cant do shit to them on that day. FOX also didnt care for AD at all. They cared more for Family Guy and their other shows to put time in to it. They didnt think it could be a force in sweeps even though they never found a daily time slot for it. Also for show that wasnt liked by Fox Execs..it still netted 6 emmys and a golden globe. Critics loved it everwhere. To get any viewers you need a time slot. You cant shift a show like that everyweek and expect to get viewers. plus the marketing was poor so they couldnt even get attention to would be viewers.
